Look in any serious news room or production studio, and a teleprompter will be front and center. Why? Because it can make your job on camera SO much easier.
Regardless of what brand you use (or whether you build one yourself using one of the many DIY videos on RUclips), a Teleprompter can help you nail your shot faster and film in less takes.
If used properly, you can really amp up the quality of your presentation. Not only that, shooting in less takes means less footage, and less footage means faster editing!
As always, there are a few key things to remember when using a Teleprompter to get the best results, and they’re not always right for every video or style. In this video we run through my tips on how to use a teleprompter for the best results in your videos!

I am finding your videos very useful I was reading an intro to my series, then thought of a telepromter, but you pointed out to have a list of key points. I am going to re-do my intro segment. I have been viewing your other videos. You aren't pushing some companies product and showing some really good practical advice.
Thanks Edward! Glad you like the videos! Good luck with your videos!

Great tips about narrowing the lines of scrolling text, and increasing the distance if possible, as ways to prevent the "darting eyes" effect. Thanks.
No worries - so glad it helped!
Love your videos Justin, very informative. Where would you suggest is the ideal spot to put a teleprompter in relation to the camera?

U r just awesome!!
No YOU'RE awesome 😉
Thanks Abid!
Great tips man! what about the height of the camera compare to the character? what would you do as a general rule, would you put it at the same height as the character eyes, lower or higher? keep up the good work, thanks!
Eye level. Set the camera up to the correct height then just position the teleprompter in front of it.
Hey Justin, thanks for putting this together. Question - do you have a recommended setup if you're going to use an ipad for the teleprompter, and an iphone as the camera? If so, what mount(s) do you like and how would you use the mounts? Thanks!
Hoping to test out some options for this soon
Hi Justin,
great video. What do you think about using a powerpoint presentation with a remote control? That keeps you talking conversational instead of reading, as you only type some keywords in bullet points on each slide. You can mirror-flip the slides with ppt-mirror and you are ready to go....?
That could definitely work! Whatever makes it easiest for you :)
Hello, Congratulations Cool 👍👏👏👏
Thnx a lot
No problem!
HA! I love that video thumbnail!
👍🏻 That's how it looks when I'm shooting!
Thanks! Great tips on using a teleprompter. On another note, do you know when you'll do the video on the best wide lens for an iPhone? I'm on standby so I can purchase a solid one. ;)
I've been playing around with the Aukey 120degrees and the TECHO camera lens kit. Both seem like good options.
Justin Brown - Primal Video Ok. Thanks. In the videos you shoot on your Channel, when you're using an iPhone, are you not using a wide lens at all?
Hi, I love your video. Please help me which teleprompter App is required for Arabic and Urdu languages. In these languages we write from right to left. Please help me as I consider you to be my teacher.
Just curious what camera is being used in that setup?
Thanks for the video ! I have bought a teleprompter on Amazon for 95 bucks...
Awesome! All the best with your videos 😀
Don't forget the pause foot pedal and hand remotes.
Can I use it with gopro 9 ?
Hi Justin,
Well appreciated review, it's also a better optional using existing Powerpoint slides in a teleprompter? in order to deliver great presentation with an organized flow without memorizing, by simply using bullet points plan, but the slides has to be flipped.
Hi Justin, many thanks for this video. I downloaded Oratory, fine. But now I cannot find a way to open a file which I saved in google drive. I would like to read some texts. So What can I do? How can I inport some text in Oratory? thanks for your help
Marion Salzmann copying from Google Docs and pasting into the teleprompter app works for me!
@@BenDurham Yes, works for you. But you would never tell how to go about it?
@@FreeVideoWorkshopTV I just open a new document or whatever it is called, multitask out of the app over to Google keep/docs in my case (but you can use whatever text app you want), hold down on the text, tap select all, tap copy, then multitask back to the teleprompter app, hold down and tap paste. Done!
Why Latin on prompter?
wondering if you were using a teleprompter for this video or not? thats some great eye contact if you are!
Yes, I use a teleprompter for most of our videos!
Which teleprompter model
are you using
I now use the Parrot Teleprompter V2
Your videos are great. keep up. Sub from me
I think a pretty good method is just reading the phrase then saying it to the camera then editing it with a transaction so that no one can see you paused
This explanation is not enough unfortunately to understand, how the teleprompter works.
Is it the reason we are not paying that you are talking more than the demonstration. it is easy to listen a story but we are watching you tube to watch the demonstration.
Misleading title. The actual title should be - "Mistakes to avoid while using a Teleprompter". Because you never exactly showed how to use it. Usually I love your content but this was poor.
