There's fine line between Scream and Scary Movie. It takes a lot of skill to pull off good parody and satire, especially if you want people to take it seriously.
One thing that caught me off guard on rewatch (possibly due to being older) was how genuinely emotional and upsetting it was to see a mother listen to her daughter being murdered on the phone. There were actual tears.
Yes. Hear her say, ‘ Casey, baby’. You can almost hear a mother saying that to her daughter. It got me. She made Casey a real person instead of just another girl being killed in a horror film.
Yeah, it’s wild how hard that scene hits for both demographics. As a teen you’re barely out of being a little kid, and calling out for your mom is still very familiar. The tween/teen audience is instantly put into Drew’s shoes in a very believable way. But now that I’m older and a parent, the scene works on the other side of the coin. The scene instantly fills me with nauseating fear for my own child, so much so that I don’t want to watch it anymore. I love Scream and I think the opening is brilliantly constructed. But for that reason, as soon as she makes it outside and that moment is imminent, I skip ahead.
I argue that despite what certain portions of the fandom like to say, Dewey was never dumb/stupid. He definitely had a level of naïveté to varying degrees, but he wasn’t stupid. His devotion and bravery often got him into scenarios that led to his attacks, but it was never because he was dumb. Which is why it angers a lot of ppl for having Dewey die by being dumb.
@@OverlyPositiveFanboy yeah, and he walked right up to said killer (even though he had a gun that didn’t require being 2 feet away). There was very little that felt like Dewey. It was disappointing to see the route they decided to take. There were so many better ways it could have been handled. Ways that a legacy character actually deserved. (Especially when a lot of the new characters fell so flat because of poor character development from the script.)
Dewey was reckless (much like every other film), but he wasn't dumb. He wanted to be sure to kill Ghostface. Should he have stood further away? Sure, but he wanted to make sure he hit the mark. Remember, he literally had just missed Ghostface when shooting from a distance.
@@Joker_JAK which in itself is a stupid inconsistency given he was kind of a crack shot back in Scream 3 and NOBODY would miss all 5 rounds on a man sized target 20 feet away. Of course he didn't miss all, they were absorbed by the bulletproof vest. Even so it is incredibly dumb for him to do that, as a Policemen he would have known about the fatal range of a knife vs gun and wouldn't struggle to hit a stationary head sized target at 10 feet. Dewey always gets his ass handed to him in a fight though, so it is at least consistent with every film in that regard.
I love that they gave Carrie that line in Scream 3. It came out the same year she hand delivered a cow's tongue wrapped in a Tiffany box to a predatory producer who tried to force himself on her friend. Knowing that that was the type of woman she was, I am sure she loved the critique Scream 3 was making.
not really a big statement though, jokes about directors putting actresses into the star role bc she slept with him are as old as hollywood itself might not have been taken that seriously in the public back then but there are old films comparing acting/music industry/etc. for female employees as basically prostitution might have been victim blaming, but unaware of what was going on? hell nah
@@maxmustermann-zx9yq But it isn’t just jokes, Scream 3 centers on a critique and callout of the depths of the kind of depravity that producers do to actresses and the trauma it left Maureen with - it’s crazy ahead of it’s time in that those things wouldn’t really become a major topic in the public eye until well over a decade later. All the while being produced by Harvey Weinstein.
I was rolling my eyes at the " Don't fuck with a serial killer's daughter" line. I don't mind Sam being Billy's daughter but I feel like they could have done more with her character.
Same... It feels her whole character is being Billy's daughter and nothing more... And the "don't f*** with a serial killer's daughter " was so unnecessary 🙄
Agreed, I'm fine with her being his daughter but like her hallucinating him is completely unnecessary, it just feels like they wanted a reason to bring back Skeet Ulrich
Sidney’s such a cool freakin character, and I think she works because she doesn’t really feel like a character but more of a real person. Campbell’s acting for her is just consistently amazing.
I used Steve as a trivia question to just ask people because I wanted to see who would get it right. "Who was the first person to die in the movie Scream?" Most people got it wrong. My sister got it right and asked a clarifying question "Do you mean Sydney's mom or Steve?"
the question could be phrased as "Who was the first ON SCREEN kill of Scream?" which you could argue would be Steve or Casey.... or "The first kill of the franchise." which would be Sidney's mom, given that its the YEAR before the actual events take place. Either way... I like your sister's answer/clarifying question. smart kid.
One aspect of Scream 5 that bothered me were Sam’s visions of Billy. They seemed too much like ghostly visitations rather than hallucinations. Something bordering on the supernatural doesn’t fit in a Scream movie, in my opinion.
Especially with him literally pointing out a hidden weapon...like wtf. I hope they bring in Kevin to help write the new one. His writing is far superior.
Ya that felt very “un-Scream-like”. I think in the first movie there was like this “who is ghostface and are they supernatural, like Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger, seemingly being able to get around extremely quickly or be in two places, and seems to know where everyone is and when, because all of the characters seem to have solid alibis” but the twist that there were two killers the entire time explains all of that in an interesting, rational way. The addition of an *actual* ghost that was delivering info the main character didn’t know beforehand, including what Billy’s voice sounded like and what he looked like when he died despite never meeting him, was heavy handed and you’re right it doesn’t fit with any of the other movies
To be fair, there were hallucinations of Maureen Prescott in the older ones, or at least in the 3rd... it's been a hot minute since I've rewatched the series
@@nolaray1062 Except that he didn't. Since it was all in her head, she knew the knife was there. She just wasn't consciously aware of it. "Billy" showing her was just her subconscious.
The funniest line in all the movies for me atleast is Stu saying "peer pressure". I've watched Scream over 10 times and everytime it makes me cry laugh🤣🤣
I will never forget watching this in theaters and it being dead quiet, because one, Sid is dead and two, Jill has lost her goddamn mind. But when she goes through the table this woman behind me goes, “damn, this bitch is CRAZY!”
In regards to knowing who killed who in the original Scream, there’s actually a way to tell. When Ghostface goes for the killing blow, watch how he holds the knife. If he’s doing it while gripping the knife with his right hand, it’s Billy. If he’s doing it with both hands wrapped around the knife, it’s Stu. It’s a little detail I never noticed before until I saw a video going through the deaths one by one. It was a nice little detail from Wes 😁 Also, there’s no way Billy COULDN’T be the one that killed Tatum. Stu was still hosting the party, and he was the one that locked her in with Billy, unlocking it when the deed was done
Yeah, Billy tends to go for more slicing and dicing (though not exclusively), whereas Stu tries to gut you - which we know is a tip off for Stu, specifically, because he talks about gutting & the force it requires at school. Likewise, we know Stu was likely the one who strung up Casey and gutted her (and Steve) - both because of the gutting, but also because the room/attic thing in Stu's house has a bunch of dolls hung like Casey was.
@@jaernihiltheus7817 I always assumed Billy killed Casey because when the kids are gathered together talking about the murder the next day at school Tatum says that Stu was with her all night.
@@theoneandonlyCatseye it was likely both, one doing the kill, one making the phone call. There's a neat video by zach cherry in which he maps the scene out (assuming that both were there) and it makes a lot more sense logistically
I always thought the difference between Stu-Ghostface and Billy-Ghostface was that Stu seemed like he'd be sloppier. Like he'd play around with the victim too much and make more mistakes than Billy, which would track because Billy was the one with the vision.
Billy killed Casey. Billy was also the one who called her. Stu was the one who attacked her at the window. After Casey hits Stu with the phone, Billy runs after her and delivers the final blow. He also strangles her ( like he attempted to strangle Sidney). Billy uses one hand to stab his victims. He likes to strangle his victims. Stu uses both hands. Billy killed Casey, Tatum and the principal. Stu killed Steve and Kenny. I loved your rant. lol I thought I was the only one who disliked Scream 5. Scream 1 and Scream 4 are my favorites.
This has been disproved, Wes Craven, the stuntman who played Ghostface and Matthew Lillard all confirmed they were never told to hold knives in a certain way. The only part that actually holds any weight is Billy tries to choke people whereas we don't see Stu do that. Though that doesn't mean Stu doesn't...
Typically I think people like that don’t even register what they do as bad. They might even call out other people’s crimes, but then have all kinds of reasons why what they did was “completely different.”
Have to agree on horror fandom not being as toxic as some. I've been involved in a lot of fandoms (I tend to skew towards sci-fi, tokusatsu, and comics, my GF is the real horror nut. My relationship with horror is a bit more casual) but horror has always been hands down the most chill community I've encountered. Bad movies are a huge part of horror so horror fans are a lot more likely to just laugh at a bad sequel rather then get angry and start a petition/hate campaign. Might have something to do with horror fans tending to be a little older. I've also never encountered any gate keeping either, and my city's annual horror con is so friendly and always a joy to attend. These are just my personal observations, I'm sure other people have had the opposite experience.
I also think a lot of horror fans know that the genre isn't for everyone so they often don't get mad if you don't like their favorite movie and they get excited if you do!
@@tomthespaceknerd5396 You're into Sci-Fi I always find the Star Trek communities are the most friendly and knowledgable. Even though they're currently being shit on and treated like dirt with Picard and Discovery they don't go ballistic about it and have meltdowns and get put on 24 hour suicide watch, they just say at least we are getting new Trek which might attract new fans . I thought they messed up saying Scream has toxic fans because it doesn't. I also think they messed up killing off Dewy he was written as a "what would happen if a guy got brutally attacked but kept surviving every single horror film he's in no matter how much damage he takes character" They should have killed off Gail or Sydney because women nearly ALWAYS survive horror films
"If you aren't planning to watch it, why are you here?" Because my anxiety doesn't let me do horror movies but you make it fun and not scary! I've wondered what this franchise was like, but could never get up the nerve to actually watch it.
Watch the original i hated horror movie as a kid but then i saw scream on vhs and fucking fell in love with it and slashers. Its very campy suppose to be cuz its satire but has its scary moments.
The best way to get over anxiety when it comes it horror is to just watch them. Deal with the nightmares and nervousness later. After a couple of movies it won't be as bad and you'll find yourself enjoying them quite a bit (assuming you actually enjoy the genre. Horror is like Musicals in that it's an inherently niche genre, with some series being more niche than other).
@@Kris-wo4pj I saw the original, because it was a popular movie at the time and cinematically I can appreciate it with my rational adult mind that knows it is all just fake, but I just do not enjoy slashers on any level. Like I get the ridiculousness and heavy (at times unrealistic) gore of the genre is supposed to be entertaining, I am just more often grossed out and not entertained. Hence my lack of interest in all the Scream sequels.
I think Sam being Billy Loomis' daughter only worked for me because it 100% fits the "bad fanfiction" meta of the film. It seems like exactly the premise for a bland self-insert character a teenager would come up with for their Wattpad AU fanfic...which is what fandoms do all the time--rewriting the story with superiority complex because new writers didn't "do the original justice" and fucking it up. Also I wonder how many people who've watched this video understood the Indigo Girls joke lmao
The Indigo Girls joke was great. Also reminded me of the intervention in But I’m A Cheerleader where they being out the giant Melissa Etheridge poster. Also I’m surprised more people didn’t lose their minds when Closer to Fine showed up in Barbie.
Im so late to this comment but yes! I enjoyed the movie because I thought they were going the fanfic arc, and I think that was the intention. Just like Scream 4, I think people will see these themes more so in hindsight. I was a teen when 4 came out and hated it because the commentary didn’t seem like commentary since live streaming and internet fame wasn’t as ubiquitous as it is now. Fanfic has always been popular, but it is now just starting to become mainstream
I agree about the 5th movie. I also knew the killers almost immediately, the boyfriend was being too weird like watching the movies in the hotel room and then the best friend and him shared a weird look when they “met” in the hospital. Also Dewey not taking off the mask mad me sooo mad lol
@@tgabz I’m not I’ve been watching them my whole life. I feel like the killers in this movie were way more obvious for me I knew it was them as soon as they were on the screen together there was not mystery for me at all. That’s all I’m saying
Changes I would make to scream (2022): - make Sam less annoying, her character really pulled me out of the film because I couldn’t stand her - make Tara the final girl, she is much more likeable - have the reveal of Sam being Billy’s daughter later in the movie and in any other way, because that long conversation was so painful and anticlimactic.
i saw the movie last night and i wholeheartedly agree. I think the movie was fantastic, except for sam. She was pretty much my only problem with the movie. Her billy visions started to feel cheap after a while
@@syd6964 Not just that but the fact that she can see her DEAD FATHER felt so supernatural to me. She never saw the way he acted or talked only saw photos of him so how could she possibly see him in his natural form. It just didn’t seem like it belonged in the Scream franchise.
Honestly I just hated the Billy thing altogether. Reminds me of scream 3 when she finds out about her half brother. Movies and shows overcomplicate shit and make it so hard to suspend your disbelief with this "They had a secret relative this whole time!" Bs

Having not watched scream 4, upon seeing Emma Roberts, I immediately thought “oh she’s looks so murderable”. And that’s what tipped me off. She really leaned into playing the murdering bitch trope without a hint of subtlety after this one.
I knew of her before scream 4 even came out, and don't recall her playing the bitchy type before then. On that note, she was pretty convincing as "nice girl" Jill.
The original Scream (damn I hate that I have to say that now) is my all-time favorite horror movie. I legit still remember the feeling and impact in that opening when this casual conversation flipped on a dime. “You never told me your name.” “Why do you wanna know my name?” “Because I want to know who I’m looking at.” Dude, chills.
i was born in 1997, so obviously 1 year after the original Scream. my brothers had a scream mask and liked to use it to terrify me from the time i was teeny tiny. i hated it with my entire soul
I just love that the Internet hyped up the potential return of Matthew Lillard for Scream 2022 (and Matthew kind of added to that I think cause he did an interview saying "but can a TV really kill someone" or something like that) and it was actually Skeet who came back
Oh god, what a relatable feeling. "Do I not like this because it's actually bad, or am I just super depressed and that's making me not like it." When I was really depressed I thought everything sucked. Since getting better I've started going through media I was disappointed by during my depression and trying to give it another pass.

Being mean to people about movies is silly. I don't fully agree with you on some of your points as I thought Scream 5 was fun and the billy stuff kinda gave a nice arc to Sam, as she wanted to run away from her heriatig and ends up embracing it to save her sister. But I do agree that it felt out of place for a scream movie and could have been done better and respect/understand that you didn't like it
Something not a lot of people point out with these movies which I kind of love/hate is the Jay and Silent Bob of it all. Yes they cameo in Scream 3 but it gets weirder when you watch the movie Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back where they run through a Hollywood backlot and into the set of Scream 3 with Neve Campbell and Wes Craven playing themselves but it’s explicit that they’re filming Scream 3, not Stab 3 meaning in the Askewniverse, Scream is a fictional franchise which makes their presence in the fictional franchise all the weirder when they’re producing a piece of fiction similar to their diegetic reality. It then gets even weirder when you remember that in the first Scream, it’s established that Clerks, the movie exists as a movie within the diegetic world of Scream. There’s a Clerks cutout in the video store and a Clerks VHS tape is displayed on top of the tv in the house party. So Clerks exists as a fictional movie within the diegetic world of Scream yet Jay and Silent Bob appear as actual people in Scream 3 and then according to Jay and Silent Bob, Scream is made into a fictional franchise that exists within the diegetic world of the Askewniverse. Yes I know it’s probably just meant to be a cutesy in joke between people behind the scenes with not a lot of thought put into it, but the continuity breaks are so comically precise in terms of how they invert and then reinvert each other.
Something interesting occurred to me while watching this. In Scream 2, Tori Spelling spoils that Billy is one of the killers in a promotional interview for the Stab movie. I always assumed it was just another meta joke about actors spoiling movies or some such, but in the Scream universe, the Stab movies are based on Gale's book, which is in turn based on true events, meaning that the fact that there are two killers and the identities of those killers are probably public knowledge. This means that Stab, despite being the in universe version of Scream, can't really be a who-done-it because everyone already knows who did it, so maybe Tori Spelling didn't actually spoil the movie in that interview because they weren't hiding the identities of the killers and perhaps made that a part of the plot. So, imagine a version of Scream where we, the audience, are let in on the fact that Billy and Stu are the killers early on and get to see more of the how they did it rather than focusing on the mystery element, kind of like a cross between a buddy cop movie and Behind the Mask: the Rise of Leslie Vernon but with two almost comically inept serial killers. It would probably be an objectively worse movie than original murder mystery, but it would be interesting to see.
As funny as that is, the film had already debuted in universe at that point. I mean, look at how quickly after No Way Home came out everyone was interviewing Tobey, Andrew and Tom and just outright talking about the biggest spoilers of that movie.
This is a cool observation about the nature of Stab as a slasher, and it's too bad it wasn't explored since it could've let them contrast the two sub-types of Slasher, which none of the movies have ever done: the Whodunnit Slasher vs the Cult-of-Personality Slasher ala "Halloween" where you know from the start who the killer is. Another thing I wish the Scream movies would do is dive more into the nature of Stab as a proto version of The Conjuring franchise, which shares a *ton* of similarities with it conceptually, outside of being supernatural.
I am pretty sure the whole shocking the audience by killing a famous character off early was also implemented in Psycho. I was told it was absolutely shocking when Janet Leigh's character was killed off, especially so early.
Yeah but at least in psycho we spent half an hour with Marion Crane, so it was shocking when she died. She was really built up to be the main character. We only spent 10 minutes with Casey Becker and even less time in the following installments.
Happened to Emma stone’s character in that movie where the rich people were hunting people that everyone got mad about too. Like she literally has less than 5 minutes on screen.
@@snakesonaframe2668 I just notice that the theme of "rich people hunting people" is so common, that I have no idea which movie you're talking about, lol
@@fuzzyapple It’s called The Hunt, but I can only think of 2 other movies with that theme. Ready or Not and The Most Dangerous Game, are there more I’m not aware of? Though at the time of making that comment I couldn’t remember the name of it, I had to look it up just now, so maybe you’re right lol.
Even though some things didn't land perfectly for Scream 2022, I could at least feel that they TRIED. That they understood the essence of Scream and why I love it, and that's enough for me right now. When so many reboots seem to be made by people who played a game of telephone to get the original story, I feel like the franchise is in pretty safe hands going foward. Like you can't extrapolate that ongoing joke about cerebral horror being the new "it" horror genre without understanding Screams legacy of horror meta criticism. It just felt good to see them be able to understand the concept well enough to make their own version of the joke well :)
Some thoughts on the 5th one 1) it seems the writers planned out who the killers were because there is so much foreshadowing (i.e. Ghostface sending a video instead of livestreaming and Ghostface pulling out the voice changer in the hospital because the other killer is one of the victims being attacking) 2) I wish Dewey had unmasked his ghostface (maybe make it Liv), only for another one of the killers to stab him from behind, or even have both Stab him giving him the distinction of being the only kill with multiple Ghostfaces 3) I liked the subversion of the evil family member visions actually protecting Sam instead of driving her to murder
@@joshualester5154 They do, but Scream 2 and 3 both had severe changes in those plans, which makes the original plan staying the same throughout filming a bit of a noteworthy thing. *For the record;* the original killers for Scream 2 were Hallie (Sid's roommate) and Mickey. Mrs. Loomis was added after script leaks. Whereas the original killer for Scream 3 was Stu (who had survived in a coma), and then changed to Roman and Angelina before filming began, and then after the vast majority of the film was filmed Weinstein decided it would be more surprising if there was only 1 killer - so Angelina's killer reveal & death scene was cut, leaving there once again only 1 killer for Scream 3 and Angelina's fake out death scene being treated as her "actual" death scene.

I think that maybe you should fix your comment before someone else gets the movie spoiled for themselves. You name the killer(or one of them) right in the first line. Someone could 100% accidentally see that.
Even if you don't LIKE _Scream (1996)_ you HAVE to admit it is a SEMINAL (a work, event, moment, or figure strongly influencing later developments.) horror movie. To just dismiss it simply because you don't like it is honestly asinine. For instance, I'm not a big musical fan, but there is no way in HELL I'd ever say "Oh yeah Hamilton HA that didn't revitalize the musical at all." There's a difference in LIKING something, APPRECIATING something even if you don't like it, and ACKNOWLEDGING what a certain film did or does even if you don't like it or even appreciate it.
There was a dialogue exchange between Amber and Richie in the hospital scene at the very beginning of the movie that seemed way too snippy for them to be strangers. I didn’t call the relationship angle but i guessed that they were the killers probably 20 minutes in
My ranking is 1, 4, 2, 5, and 3. What Scream 4 managed to do is just so magical, definitely lives up to the first one in every way! I loved 5 but the killers’ reasoning is quite stupid and Sam wasn’t that much of a great character to me until the end when she lived up to her father’s legacy. Also, Mindy and Chad were the best new characters so I’m happy they lived!
This is my ranking as well. I thought maybe I judged 3 too harshly, but rewatching it recently after almost 20 years, I was right the first time. I don't like the killer and the motivations. I know that was part of the "joke", with surprise past stuff getting introduced out of left field, but I didnt like the story given. And Parker Posey annoyed the hell out of me. I kinda wish they'd just left Emily Mortimer's character as the second killer.
This whole hate trend for hatin on 3 needs to stop and its actually finally getting praise, i get it was too different but thats why it was fun. 5 was trash compared to the rest
Whilst Scream 5 isn't the best Scream movie, I definitely think it's the most unintentionally hilarious. Me and my sister were both dying laughing in the cinema at some lines especially towards the end
@@MiyaoMeow588 Eh there’s a fine line between campy and cringey. 5cream crosses into cringey more than I’d like, and I think a lot of it is on Barrera’s performance (“dOn’T fUcK wItH tHe dAuGhTeR oF a sEriAL kiLLeR!!”) but some of it’s the writing too because it also happens to the better actors. Even “I still prefer the Babadook” is cringey, and Ortega is actually great in this movie.
I personally really enjoyed scream 5. I feel like a scream film in this day and age could work with all the new things going on in horror. Also, the cameo gave me the same euphoria I got during the scene in no way home
Yeah aside from the lead being a little wooden and the admittedly pretty silly Billy tulpa, I had no major issues with it. It wasn't a deal-breaker for me. The movie was really fun and clever.
As soon as you said that horror movies get snubbed at the awards I instantly pictured Toni Collette's dinner table scene and laughed when it popped up on the screen. It's so true though :( Also the first time i watched scream 5, I only recognized Mikey Madison from Once Upon a time in Hollywood when they set her on fire at the end lmao.
I thought it could have been fun if instead of Sam knowing Billy was her father, the killers had somehow found out and lured her there to be their new set up killer but she didn't know why she was being targeted You could put in some misleads on what her connection is etc, and let's her be a different type of character too
amanda, i want you to know that i haven't seen basically any horror movies (and not any screams!) and i watch this movie 90% just because your energy and comentary style is Fantastic.
i think at 4, gail's stab wasn't to intentionally kill her, but just to match Jill's at the end. Cause when u rewatch the scene, you can clearly see that the killer could've just went for the heart as he even looks at dewey before he stabs. meaning he had time to aim for a kill. It was just for Jill to have a matching wound.
@@human1414 The stuntman did a lot of the character work for Ghostface. I actually enjoyed scream 5 when I saw it. Originally it was the girl playing Sidney that would’ve been the second killer, and you can see where there were supposed to be a second killer. I like to think Angie was still the second killer, but we never learn about cause Roman kills her
When i was a kid i went to see scream 4 without ever having seen the trilogia before, my only reference was goddamn scary movie 1 (which did a great job honestly if you ask me) and i enjoyed it SO MUCH even the first one couldn't surpass the nostalgia factor when I finally got around to it. What a gem
the only person, aside from Dead Meat, i’ve been waiting to hear from about this new film! Scream 4 is my personal favorite and it was executed in a much more disturbing way than 5
The thing that shocked me most in _Scream_ '22 was the use of an Alkaline Trio song. I'm a big fan of the band and had never heard their songs in TV or film. Took a good half-hour for me to recover from that moment.
Couple thoughts... firstly Scream is my favorite horror franchise, they're complete comfort horror movies that i can binge in succession due to the continuing character arcs. They make me laugh and make watch horror eaiser for me. So i was highly anticipating the 2022 requel. And for me it was mostly fantastic. when i got out i felt like they landed every meta narrative they were providing. My only gripes were that Sidney didnt get an extended chase sequence, but because of Neve Campbell's age that might not have worked, so i would've been fine if they gave Melissa Barrera a muuuch longer sequence than the short one in the hospital. The running-for-their-life-trying-to-do-anything-they-can-to-survive chase scenes are great. Standouts are Gale's music room scene in Scream 2 and Sidney's STAB 3 set chase scene. And because of this I felt the lack of Ghostface's bumbling self. It was there, just not so prominently. Everyone's acting was great. I think this was safe thriller horror. Still some pretty brutal stuff but nothing like saw to where i was taken out of the movie. It's shot way better than Scream 4, whose lighting is awful. The constant opening a fridge door an expecting something behind it put me to such an uncomfortable edge that i felt those scenes really worked. Make me tense and frightful, not disgusted. I had a great time with this movie. The Dead Meat Cameo was fantastic, and if you look at the top recommended video on that screen you can see Kirby survives the events of Scream 4. So many little easter eggs sprinkled about. I'm gonna be buying the bluray day 1 it comes out for sure. I wish everyone else 'got' the movie and enjoyed it like i did. Not my favorite of the franchise, thats the original, but its either 2nd or 3rd of them all.
I think Neve (and Courtney) could still believably have chase scenes. They are getting older, that much is true, but they aren’t elderly or disabled. Also, Ghost Face has pretty much always relied on mind games and the element of surprise. Seeing as how they both have lived through it several times, they could easily anticipate moves to an extent that could outsmart and outlast any killer. (Like them knowing that Amber running out was a trap, not a true cry for help.) I personally think that would make an interesting story: the rules are always at play and they KNOW the rules. They could flip the script on the killer and catch HIM (or her) off guard. (Laurie Strode is older than both of them and she has shown that the older ladies can still hold their own pretty well! Lol) I think there are enough story lines left to continue to incorporate Sidney some while also continuing to bring in new characters to center around to keep it fresh. I won’t hold my breath for that to happen, sadly. I think a lot of legacy fans would be ok with the story moving away from Sidney and Gale if it felt like there was a true closure to their story. For many ppl, that moment never came and it’s very unclear if it ever will. (I suspect had Wes lived to make a 5th and 6th, we would have received that proper send off.) Scream 5 unfortunately doesn’t rank high on the list for me. I’m holding out hope that maybe 6 will turn it around for me. It disappointed me, but I am genuinely happy to see that after all these years, it’s still making ppl excited!
I WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT SAM & TERA. Tera really should've been the main protagonist since I noticed in the theater that Jenna Ortega was acting circles around whoever played Sam and I was pissed Sam kept taking screen time from her.
I'm aging myself here, but I was OBSESSED with the first film when it came out. I downloaded soundbites to play on my computer, and that was a long time ago, so that wasn't really a common thing to do.
Gale's cameras being sabotaged in 4 is both scary and annoying, because the best case scenario would still see her going back to all those spots just to fix them.
Wow, I can't believe theres someone else out there who holds Scream 4 up as one of the best in the franchise next to the original as much as I do! I agree with everything you said about 4! And most of the others too for that matter. I think I'd like to give 5cream (2022) a little more credit (on my list I'd consider it slightly better than 3, but still below 2), but I do agree that it was a let down compared to 4 and I have the some complaints you do. 4 had everything the original had turned up to the max and gave us the most of the tropes that make this franchise special, especially when it comes to ghostface! I agree about all the moments in 4 that got your attention as they did with me too. One of my favourite aspects of the franchise is how the killer toys with his victims, especially when he calls and taunts them which I feel aside from the original, 4 has some of the absolute best ghostface dialogue in that regard. It also has the most ghostface dialogue in general and hearing Roger L. Jackson perform is such a treat that is an absolute crime in the other ones when hes under used. I don't think anything can beat the original, but 4 is such a masterpiece in everything it does and will always remain my personal favorite next to the original! Also, consider me a subscriber for having the best opinions of this franchise that I've seen yet. Anytime you care to chat about movies in general, feel free to message! :D
I'll be honest, I thought it was a blast, and definitely better than the other sequels sans 4. The way the motivation loops around from the original with "being inspired by slasher movies (which wasn't the killer's *core* motivation but it was a big part of how they carried out the kills)" to "wanting to inspire further slasher movies" was really clever. The killers somewhat lack the WOW factor that 1 and 4 have, but I think they're definitely more effective than the ones in 2 and 3. And the supporting cast is almost certainly the best since the 1st movie, which is one area where I thought the other movies kinda lacked in, even though I love 4. That being said, I agree the lead girl was the weakest part of the film. It wasn't necessarily how she was utilized in the narrative (although Billy tulpa is very silly), I just think her actress failed to sell me on almost any of her lines. Her sister however, was fantastic and easily one of my favorite characters in the franchise now. Jenna Ortega *kills* it SPOILERS FOR SCREAM 5 BELOW I also dont think Dewey was being dumb in his death scene. It was a split second reflex that he fell victim to that the killer took advantage of, and I think that's pretty forgivable
The scene with Dewey & the killer in the hospital, I was thinking they were going to have Dewey actually kill the killer then and there, Amber gets exposed as Ghostface, everyone thinks it’s over, then Richie would take things from there because that has never been done before. That would’ve been cool, though I see that wouldn’t have worked well with the story.
what’s unforgivable from that scene tho is how no one tried to unmask when ghostface was laid out initially- like ????? they were all content to just walk away without knowing, and even when he went back he STILL didn’t go for the mask ??? had me screaming internally🤬
@@lowkeybruja killing ghostface was way more important. reaching for the mask is a very risky move when they aren't dead, and they were almost certainly playing possum anyway. I dont think it would've worked
I can kinda defend the Dewey death. Love the character. But he was never a great detective\operative. He's not the capable man. That just isn't Dewey. He's a man that was driven to be much more capable by an exceptional scenario. The extremity of the circumstances had him putting his all into the job. But he's just not made for it. He never was. He would have left the trade, but for the crisis. Sidney is the hyper capable. Dewey had a delayed doom. He was borrowing time. Payment came due.
The moment I saw he and Gale were separated, I knew he was gonna die. I didn’t want it to happen, but I knew it needed to. I /bawled/ in the moment. He wanted to do the right thing. He has always wanted to do the right thing. And eventually it was going to kill him.
@@Roseforthethorns Yep. He dies for being good. He was a gentle boy who would have been a happy auto mechanic. But evil picked his town. Evil is resilient partly because it thrives on primal survivalism. Good is self-sacrifice. Good is merciful. Good is honest vulnerability. Good gets stabbed allot. And it's tragic.
Nah. Dewey is a doof, sure, but he doesn’t make critically stupid decisions. He’s not an idiot, he’s just not “action man”. He would certainly know the rules by now. And zero times out of a hundred should a person who’s just been plugged on the ground with a knife get the drop on somebody with a fucking gun. You can handwave it if you try hard enough but let’s not pretend it’s anything other than a bad attempt to manipulate the audience rather than a genuine character decision. It’s like plot armor in reverse.
@@Crinbo I can see how the staging of the scene could be improved, but it wouldn't take much adjustment. Make it a more enclosed space. If a knife wielder has enclosed environment and Kevlar, odds are even. Make it dark, give her night goggles. Now she has advantage.
The opening scene in the original Scream is still one of the best opening scenes in horror and maybe even movies in general. It just perfectly showcases how bloody the movie will be, how playful then sinister the killer behaves and how he's going to go about his murders and how the movie isn't going to be as predicable as we expected. It's so good it could be a short film all by itself.
Firstly: I appreciate all the work you put into this! 😙👌✨ Also, I have a weird kind of nostalgia for this franchise. I didn't want them as they came out, but last October while in the hospital recovering from brain surgery. I regained some of my vision so I just left on the channel (Freeform?) that played Halloween movies all day. After months with maybe 25% of my vision on a good day, I enjoyed watching cheesy horror with 50% vision. I think that alone will keep this franchise a little close to my heart forever.
i kept putting this video off until i had time to watch it in its entirety (did not realize it's been three months, sorry!) but i really enjoyed the commentary and enthusiasm you have on this franchise. it's always nice to hear other opinions on movies and i trust yours a lot. so thank you for all the time and effort you put into this video, it was a good hour :)
Congrats on 500k! You deserve so much more, your videos are always so good and never fail to entertain. This is going to be a very entertaining hour for me.
I agree that scream 4 was really awesome. It’s my number 2 as well. Scream 5 though is number 3 in my ranking because I really enjoyed how things were. The first watch I hated the reveal but after the 4th watch of Scream 5 I realized why something happened really didn’t bother me. I ended up liking it more which is why it’s my number 3. Scream 1996 Scream 4 Scream 2022 Scream 2 Scream 3 That is my ranking. These movies are my favorite franchise because they are the most consistent compared to other franchises. I love all of them with only minuscule things I don’t like.
I actually loved Scream 2022, slightly edging out 4 even if that was my #2 until now. I thought Sam carried the torch great and aside from Kirby the main cast of 4 just passed by without any real emotion felt towards them, but I loved the main sisters and the Meeks twins (particularly Mindy) were a great addition to the cast.
My favorite part in the whole movie, and which made me laugh out loud in the theater, was when Richie started monologuing about fandoms. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but Jack Quaid might know a thing or two about toxic fandom since he's part of Star Trek now, and of course there's always people claiming that the newest Trek show is "not real Star Trek".
Haven't and don't plan to see S22, so why am I here? I'm glad you asked. 1: Because I love your content and humor 2: Saw the first 3 films but never got to see the last two, and 3: WHO ELSE would I trust, if not Amanda the Jedi, to give me the breakdown and insight that I can both respect and enjoy for the end(??) of a franchise that shaped one of my life changing friendships? Not in the creepy, psychotic way, don't worry I promise.
Things I liked about Scream 2022. I appreciated the small details like the hint of Kirby's survival and the identity of Sydney's husband they gave you. The tributes to Wes Craven through the film also got points from me for overall respect to his work. Weird thing also to notice,at the end when the killer is ranting they are spitting all over the damn place. Much like Stu in the original Scream movie when he was monologuing in that same kitchen. Idk maybe I'm weird but I thought that was great 🤷 Character wise I did not like Sam nor the acting by the actress. I was expecting more and was just disappointed in the direction all around. 20 minutes in and I knew where everything was going. Killer(s) , motives and parental twist in all. As a big time fan of the film series it was to predictable and I felt like they missed a opportunity for something much deeper and far less obvious a outcome.I enjoyed it for the legacy characters, the twins and Jenna Ortega's character. I had a feeling just based on the trailers that they would do a fake out on her which they did. Dewey and Gails split just didn't sit right with me either. Good performances by David and Courtney ,I just think they should've kept them together bc of the history especially from what they gave you from them in Scream 4. Ranking wise I'd say 1,4,2,5,3
People keep saying that it was predictable as if that's a bad thing. The original was so predictable too (except for the fact there were two killers). Billy was so obvious a killer and even his motivation. It was so easy to see coming, but that doesn't mean it was bad by any means. Heck, I even figured Drew Barrymore was going to be killed off and that was shocking to most other people.
That meta bit at the end where you ask "why are you here?" Got me XD. I have absolutely no clue, but I enjoyed it throughly and it inspires me to watch these movies. Thanks Amanda!
@@atimetraveler4910 i'd have to watch it again its been so long. I remember disliking that they made it paranormal and that it didn't really have too do much with the originial (except for the main topic being "urban legends"). It felt to me like the studio just wanted to make some bucks using the name.
I really enjoyed the new Scream, but I respect your opinion. I especially love that you’re a fan of Scream 4! I love rewatching it and I’m glad that it’s getting the love it deserves.
Thank you so much for pointing out the lead actress’ wooden acting. So many people are saying she did great and idk how??? I know her being the daughter of one of the Scream killers and “being mentally ill” COULD make someone seem emotionless, but I don’t feel that from her. The movie really came to a screeching halt each time she was on screen without her BF or Jenna. I really don’t get how people can have Scream 2022 as their second or first favorite movie. If it is your fave, good for you! I’m happy you guys were able to find something great in it I couldn’t! The ending rant from the killers was also really cringy. It felt like the director/writers yelling at the audience who wouldn’t like this movie being like, “yOu JuSt DoNt LiKe iT cAuSe iTs NeW!!!” When that’s not the case for many people. TLDR; The main actress wasn’t good, idk how so many people can say this is one of the best scream movies, and the director/writer seems insecure???
I may be EXTREMELY biased because scream 4 was literally filmed at my middle school and the downtown area of the city I lived in for a while with my partner, so it holds a LOT of fun things for me? but absolutely agree with your feelings on it being the 2nd best scream! I love it, you're not alone!!!
"Or don't think you're going to see this... why are you here?" Because I like the way you analyse things and your personality makes it easy for me to listen to these without getting bored. Better than the movies
Scream is genuinely my favorite movie of all time. I truly am Randy in sooooo many ways and his death made me so depressed. But the self awareness is my favorite part. The "I'll be right back" scene is my FAVORITE SCENE. I LOVE MATTHEW LILLARD IS MY FAVORITE PERSON AND THE LIVE ACTION SCOOBY DOO WAS A MASTERPIECE.
I can see where you're coming from regarding the movie. I enjoyed it quite a lot, but they were definitely overkill on the "meta-ness." I completely agree on Melissa (Sam) being wooden and I couldn't buy her as the new lead though. It should have been Jenna. The Tara character reminded me a lot of Sidney.
I think the characters in Scream 5 are wayyy better than the ones in Scream 4. The only character in Scream 4 I really cared for or even remember is Kirby. Whereas this movie had Tara, Mindy, and even Wes who I really liked even tho he was barely in it.
DEFINITELY. That’s my gripe with Scream 4. I didn’t really care about the new characters, but I do wish we got to see more of the new kids in Scream 5. Especially the twins 😩 In S5, I also wish we got more call and chase scenes.
I feel like I'm in the very small minority of I didn't really like the kids in 5. I don't know why, they just rubbed me the wrong way. Amber was a bit annoying, the girlfriend character was very annoying, and Mindy...damn it I wanted to like her. To me, she just came off as condescending and callous, no where near as endearing as Randy. If I'm being honest, I didn't like the kids in 4 either lol. Expect for Kirby. I'm not a complete jackass. Moving forward I really, really, REALLY hope they bring her back.
I have zero intention on seeing Scream. I am here because your excitement, analysis, and snarky comments make me feel as though I have seen Scream and now am a super fan
“if you haven’t seen it why are you here” and i would like to say i’m here because you said you worked really hard on it and i’m hear to support you. never saw scream but thank you for this review i might watch it one day.
I really like Sam as a character, and I’m big enough to admit that the biggest reason why is how much I personally relate to her. I deal with mental illness myself (albeit not the kind that she’s dealing with) and while I was definitely annoyed by the way the hallucinations were handled in the film, it wasn’t a deal breaker for me personally. But what struck a major chord with me was her difficulties handling it, the bad decisions she made because of both that and the information she discovered, and the way she (at least partially) blames herself and genuinely believes the people she loves will get hurt because of her. Those were all things I have felt, considered or done during the darkest parts of my life, and still sometimes struggle with to this day. Not to mention the way she worries about Tara, as I’m also an older sister. So naturally, their scenes together were the ones where I got the most emotional. All of that really made me sympathize with and root for her throughout the film. I can definitely see why others wouldn’t like her, and that’s valid, but I’m not ashamed to say that I do.
Why am I here when I do not intend to watch the movie? I like your analysis and sometimes you get me to try things I wouldn't ordinarily. I don't care about spoilers since I will either experience the story regardless and haven't seen how we get there or am not going to see it so doesn't matter.
I did a massive scream marathon this year. Scream 1 is now one of my favourite movies of all time. Can i say i got legit sad when Tatum died. I really liked her.
Yo, thank you for this video! It really is super re-watchable both by being funny and a great recap!!! I'm mostly commenting for RUclips's engagement, but I also love you!!! Thank you again, so much😄
I liked Scream (2022) just fine. I just have some issues with them not being about to do math. They state in the movie that it is 25 years after the original. And them the secret daughter says she left home at 18 and her sister yells at her for leaving her alone for 5 years. That's only 23. So how did a 2-years dead Billy father a child?
“He was making a movie called ‘Stab’. He *was* stabbed”. I laughed far too much at this line
The delivery was deadpan as hell.
Love that line
I laugh every time I hear it.
@@A_RUclips_Commenter Flawlessly so. 🤣

Not like this movie either.
I had a fun time ranking the entire scream franchise in a video on my channel. Check it out and enjoy.
@@sophiesenal We DON'T mention that disaster! EVER! 😭

"No..... No, my daughter". Same here. In Scream, Wes Craven made you feel for the victim.
Yes! That lady who played Casey’s mom really delivered, I believed that agony
Yes. Hear her say, ‘ Casey, baby’. You can almost hear a mother saying that to her daughter. It got me. She made Casey a real person instead of just another girl being killed in a horror film.
If you ever get the chance, watch with the commentary. Wes talks about the phone being like an Umbilical cord.
Was he being dumb? The killer always comes back.
Dewey always gets his ass handed to him in a fight though, so it is at least consistent with every film in that regard.
you're giving dewey TOO MUCH credit i fear. all the times he's been stabbed before was for stupid reasons.
I love that they gave Carrie that line in Scream 3. It came out the same year she hand delivered a cow's tongue wrapped in a Tiffany box to a predatory producer who tried to force himself on her friend. Knowing that that was the type of woman she was, I am sure she loved the critique Scream 3 was making.
not really a big statement though, jokes about directors putting actresses into the star role bc she slept with him are as old as hollywood itself
might not have been taken that seriously in the public back then but there are old films comparing acting/music industry/etc. for female employees as basically prostitution
might have been victim blaming, but unaware of what was going on? hell nah
Love that
@@maxmustermann-zx9yq
But it isn’t just jokes, Scream 3 centers on a critique and callout of the depths of the kind of depravity that producers do to actresses and the trauma it left Maureen with - it’s crazy ahead of it’s time in that those things wouldn’t really become a major topic in the public eye until well over a decade later.
And the "don't f*** with a serial killer's daughter " was so unnecessary 🙄
i liked it :)
The way the line was done was like the writers/director thought it way more badass than what it actually was.
Agreed, I'm fine with her being his daughter but like her hallucinating him is completely unnecessary, it just feels like they wanted a reason to bring back Skeet Ulrich
i disagree, there's a lot going on with her character and i feel like she's overhated
Sidney’s such a cool freakin character, and I think she works because she doesn’t really feel like a character but more of a real person. Campbell’s acting for her is just consistently amazing.
I’m bummed she’s not a bigger star.
I like your sister's answer/clarifying question. smart kid.
In the movie Scream we see Steve die first, so the only right answer is Steve. It doesn't make sense to include Sidney's mom.

My favorite part of Scre4m is definetely Jill's commitment to Fight Clubbing herself.
Whats the first rule about fight club...
I will never forget watching this in theaters and it being dead quiet, because one, Sid is dead and two, Jill has lost her goddamn mind. But when she goes through the table this woman behind me goes, “damn, this bitch is CRAZY!”
It's the only part of 4 i loved other than Kirby
Same.
@@theoneandonlyCatseye Tatum didn't say that Stu was with her ALL night. She said "last" night. The same way Billy was with Sidney that same night.

DEAD MEAT GOT A CAMEO????? I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!! Good for him, good for him.
But didn't Tatum say that it could not have been Stu that killed Casey because Stu was with her?
This has been disproved, Wes Craven, the stuntman who played Ghostface and Matthew Lillard all confirmed they were never told to hold knives in a certain way.
The only part that actually holds any weight is Billy tries to choke people whereas we don't see Stu do that. Though that doesn't mean Stu doesn't...
@@goofydawg842 she says she was with him but never all night. Randy references that IN the scene.
Wrong. The writer confirmed it was Stu. 😊
The fact that harvey weinstein allowed them to keep the plot of scream 3 in the movie just goes to show how above the law he believed he was
Typically I think people like that don’t even register what they do as bad.
I’ve had a very different experience with horror fandom, especially on Twitter. It’s actually been pretty toxic the last ~6 months
@@Horrorlover1978 In fairness, I'm not on Twitter because everything is toxic on there. The platform is designed in way that fosters toxicity.

Hey it's one-topic, fancy seeing you here
"If you aren't planning to watch it, why are you here?" Because my anxiety doesn't let me do horror movies but you make it fun and not scary! I've wondered what this franchise was like, but could never get up the nerve to actually watch it.
Lol, same. Horror isn’t my thing but Amanda’s commentary allows me to digest it in a cinematic appreciation safe context. 😁
Same, the excitement and scaredness of a quick recap of a commentary is just as much for me as a whole movie for others
Same level of logic as Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter
Same as Sidney not taking off the mask in scream 2

Changes I would make to scream (2022):
- make Sam less annoying, her character really pulled me out of the film because I couldn’t stand her
- make Tara the final girl, she is much more likeable
- have the reveal of Sam being Billy’s daughter later in the movie and in any other way, because that long conversation was so painful and anticlimactic.
The Billy reveal near the end is a better surprise
i saw the movie last night and i wholeheartedly agree.
@@madelineroberts4693 I will forgive this if they make Sam a serial killer like her father in the next movie. Would be a nice twist
Having not watched scream 4, upon seeing Emma Roberts, I immediately thought “oh she’s looks so murderable”. And that’s what tipped me off. She really leaned into playing the murdering bitch trope without a hint of subtlety after this one.
Her character is the most unhinged Scream killer. Not the best, but the most insane.
That is why I rank Scream 4 so low in the ranking video I did on my channel. Check it out and enjoy.
@@neutralman9124 I love Emma Roberts in AHS and Scream Queens, once you notice her typecast it's pretty easy to guess she's 1 of the killer
@@junikigai sure, but this movie came out before she ever had the chance to lean into the darker “bitch” role.
“You never told me your name.”
“Why do you wanna know my name?”
“Because I want to know who I’m looking at.”

Just call it Scream 5. Scream is on my top 3 favorite horror movies with the Babadook and The Ring. Yeah. Tara and I share favorite horror movie.
i was born in 1997, so obviously 1 year after the original Scream. my brothers had a scream mask and liked to use it to terrify me from the time i was teeny tiny. i hated it with my entire soul
my brothers had the fake blood filled ones that had a pump. i hated them so much.
I just love that the Internet hyped up the potential return of Matthew Lillard for Scream 2022 (and Matthew kind of added to that I think cause he did an interview saying "but can a TV really kill someone" or something like that) and it was actually Skeet who came back
Matthew Lillard was the one saying 'Cool house Freeman!' at Amber's party btw so he did kind of get a return :]

But I do agree that it felt out of place for a scream movie and could have been done better and respect/understand that you didn't like it
Grats on 500k!!!
Ripley is best final girl, though. :)
All that hurt my brain
SCREAM 4 IS DEFINITELY THE BEST SEQUEL! So happy that you agreed and weren't afraid to fully express love for this movie!
Amen
I am pretty sure the whole shocking the audience by killing a famous character off early was also implemented in Psycho. I was told it was absolutely shocking when Janet Leigh's character was killed off, especially so early.
yeah i mean, this is well known and is definitely a nod to that.
Some thoughts on the 5th one
1) it seems the writers planned out who the killers were because there is so much foreshadowing (i.e. Ghostface sending a video instead of livestreaming and Ghostface pulling out the voice changer in the hospital because the other killer is one of the victims being attacking)
2) I wish Dewey had unmasked his ghostface (maybe make it Liv), only for another one of the killers to stab him from behind, or even have both Stab him giving him the distinction of being the only kill with multiple Ghostfaces
3) I liked the subversion of the evil family member visions actually protecting Sam instead of driving her to murder
The writers always plan out who the killer is. Lmao. They are the writers. The other 4 movies have the same kind of clues.
@@jaernihiltheus7817 "For the record; the original killers for Scream 2 were Hallie (Sid's roommate) and Mickey."
- They were Hallie and Derek, under the direction of Mrs Loomis. Mickey was meant to die in a similar way to Derek, but tied to a tree outside for the killer to find.
I understand that these things happen but I really wish you had put a spoiler alert on this and put the spoiler below the "read more" part". I know that it's partly my fault for reading comments but seeing as this is a video that covers the whole franchise and Amanda put spoiler warnings and time stamps in the video, I'm sure I'm not the only person who hasn't seen Scream 2022 scrolling through the comments. I think that maybe you should fix your comment before someone else gets the movie spoiled for themselves. You name the killer(or one of them) right in the first line. Someone could 100% accidentally see that.
@@Mskittenlover12 Why are you watching this video that covers Scream 5, and then going through the comments if you don't want spoilers? LOL

Lol chad was annoying asf
my exact ranking too, with 3 and 5 being very close imo
3 was trash, 5 was great.
Whilst Scream 5 isn't the best Scream movie, I definitely think it's the most unintentionally hilarious. Me and my sister were both dying laughing in the cinema at some lines especially towards the end
I feel like Scream is often going for a deliberately corny and campy angle, so I dont imagine it was "unintentionally" hilarious
Richie's "Oh shit it's Ghostface!" had me dying.
"Gimpy little sister" had me crying
Which part would you consider to be unintentional? I feel like this movie was very aware of how it was perceived/ portraying itself.

I'm glad that someone else also thinks Scream 4 is one of the best in the series. It gets way too much hate than it deserves.
i think at 4, gail's stab wasn't to intentionally kill her, but just to match Jill's at the end.
Cause when u rewatch the scene, you can clearly see that the killer could've just went for the heart as he even looks at dewey before he stabs. meaning he had time to aim for a kill.
It was just for Jill to have a matching wound.
A guy named Zack Cherry did a video on “who killed who” and with the original Scream, he does a good job of giving evidence for each

The thing that shocked me most in _Scream_ '22 was the use of an Alkaline Trio song. I'm a big fan of the band and had never heard their songs in TV or film. Took a good half-hour for me to recover from that moment.
Tbh, I’ve never watched any Scream ( never been a fan of gore and jump scare horror films) but your review makes me want to watch them all
Couple thoughts... firstly Scream is my favorite horror franchise, they're complete comfort horror movies that i can binge in succession due to the continuing character arcs.
Lol)
I think there are enough story lines left to continue to incorporate Sidney some while also continuing to bring in new characters to center around to keep it fresh. I won’t hold my breath for that to happen, sadly. I think a lot of legacy fans would be ok with the story moving away from Sidney and Gale if it felt like there was a true closure to their story. For many ppl, that moment never came and it’s very unclear if it ever will. (I suspect had Wes lived to make a 5th and 6th, we would have received that proper send off.)
Scream 5 unfortunately doesn’t rank high on the list for me.
Jenna Ortega *kills* it
SPOILERS FOR SCREAM 5 BELOW
I also dont think Dewey was being dumb in his death scene.
If only Dewey had had some kind of long-ranged weapon he could have used to kill the killer out of knifing distance. If only!
It was a bland rehash of all the previous movies.
Well said.
😙👌✨
Also, I have a weird kind of nostalgia for this franchise.
Scream 1996
Scream 4
Scream 2022
Scream 2
Scream 3
That is my ranking. These movies are my favorite franchise because they are the most consistent compared to other franchises. I love all of them with only minuscule things I don’t like.
I just did a Scream video on my channel. Checkout and enjoy. I think you will have fun on it.
I had a positive review of it on my channel. Checked out how I ranked all Scream movies in a video I just posted.
I thought Amber carried the torch best
@@beepboop5352 She’s my second favorite GF after Stu 😅
My favorite part in the whole movie, and which made me laugh out loud in the theater, was when Richie started monologuing about fandoms. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but Jack Quaid might know a thing or two about toxic fandom since he's part of Star Trek now, and of course there's always people claiming that the newest Trek show is "not real Star Trek".
Haven't and don't plan to see S22, so why am I here? I'm glad you asked.
1: Because I love your content and humor
2: Saw the first 3 films but never got to see the last two, and
3: WHO ELSE would I trust, if not Amanda the Jedi, to give me the breakdown and insight that I can both respect and enjoy for the end(??) of a franchise that shaped one of my life changing friendships?
Not in the creepy, psychotic way, don't worry I promise.
I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on the Scream TV series, this was an incredibly enjoyable video to watch.
I'd watch that for sure.
"I think Scream 4 is the second best of all the Scream movies." YES YES YES. Thank you.
A VERY UNPOPULAR OPINION THAT IM VERY MUCH HERE FOR
its the truth lol
I LOVE how fast you talk while still being totally understandable and clear. Hell yah girl
That meta bit at the end where you ask "why are you here?" Got me XD. I have absolutely no clue, but I enjoyed it throughly and it inspires me to watch these movies. Thanks Amanda!
Has Amanda never seen “Urban legend” cause it broke my heart to have Rebecca Gayheart refer to as some model. Also please bring back Lucy!!!
I will forever stan Urban legends (well, the first one)
@@blAckg0D bloody mary was actually good too
@@atimetraveler4910 i'd have to watch it again its been so long. I remember disliking that they made it paranormal and that it didn't really have too do much with the originial (except for the main topic being "urban legends"). It felt to me like the studio just wanted to make some bucks using the name.
Just inject 60+ minute Amanda content straight into my veins, please. I need it.
I really enjoyed the new Scream, but I respect your opinion. I especially love that you’re a fan of Scream 4! I love rewatching it and I’m glad that it’s getting the love it deserves.
‘He wasn’t gutted, I made that up.’
‘Oh thank god-‘
‘His throat was slit’
*BOMBASTIC SIDE EYE CRIMINAL OFFENSIVE SIDE EYE*
I binged all the Scream movies this week (1 and 2 on Monday, 3-6 yesterday) JUST so I could watch this and oh my god is this my new hyperfixation
You forced me to spend $15 on streaming all the Scream movies. Damn you for dragging me into this wonderful franchise
I can see where you're coming from regarding the movie. I enjoyed it quite a lot, but they were definitely overkill on the "meta-ness."
I completely agree on Melissa (Sam) being wooden and I couldn't buy her as the new lead though.
@@avencree That's fine, it's all subjective anyways.
Yup. And thank you to whoever decided to put in that picture. You are my hero. MY GIRL MADE IT. WOOOH!
Well you probably remember them because you just recently saw the movie
I’ve watched this video at least 6 times now, and it’s driving me into another Scream binge 🥰
