Absolutely mesmeric performance, both on the vocals and that wonderful guitar. I saw him on this tour in 1965, when he was at his absolute best. No one could touch him. Forget Chuck the imperfect man and just wallow in the great music he has left us.

1965, meanwhile Elvis was filming Harum Scarum... Never saw Chuck Berry so involved with a song. Maybe he was a Bluesman deep inside. Great cover of this Guitar Slim's classic
@jesus Oliver I see it the other way around. Chuck knew the roots of “black” rock n roll was started by Guitar Slim. Who he was as a person embodied what what followers like little Richard, big bopper, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Beatles, Stones, Jimi and all the 60s bands that would follow that “rock n roll” life of showman/performance and the show must go on that “Eddie Jones” (Guitar Slim) personified, he created the rock n roll culture (sex, drugs, alcohol in his case, music), by living it. I was surprised to see I was right. Heard Chuck one time live in Roswell, New Mexico in 1972. I checked that year and saw that he was in MANY places - busy year!

Un bravissimo, grande artista che tutto quello che tocca fa diventare ORO! Non è più qui tra noi, però è rimasto il suo talento, la sua voce piena di fascino.
Someday, somewhere I will read an adequate definition (in words) of this brown eyed handsome man and his guitar and, more importantly, that "thin sliver of genius" that carries a well-trod popular song over the edge into the far terrain of ecstatic feeling. Just how is a performance like this - in Europe, far from the home crowd - possible ? The more you think about it, lthe less likely it seems. The lyrics are precisely as long as a gypsy lament and the performance reeks of duende. Don't know the term ? Check it out. It brings Federico Garcia Lorca together with Miles Davis. Chuck Berry walks up to the mic and tosses it off, duende dripping from his mop. Sweet Jesus.
Gracias a canciones como "Maybellene" (1955), "Roll Over Beethoven" (1956), "Rock and Roll Music" (1957) y "Johnny B. Goode" (1958), Berry redefinió los elementos del rhythm and blues.[4]

Holy shit, this is fucking great.
He almost goes into a duckwalk , but pulls back and says, "Just for now, it's all blues. We'll rock n roll later 'til the break of dawn."
