I attended the concert yesterday. What a wonderful experience. The programme was excellent. You said in your speech that you love this organ. I think the organ loves you at the keyboard. It sings when you play. I am so glad you are coming back in 2021. It is such a long time to wait though. Thank you to all concerned for such a memorable visit to Hanley.
Me too. I came by car from Northern Ireland and combined it with a visit to friends in Wales. It was a lovely concert. I decided to complece my Gert CD collection.
My granddaughter and I attended the concert on 10th August and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing Gert and Marjolein at the Victoria Hall again in 2021.
Can't wait to hear another magnificent concert coming from Victoria Hall. Your artwork and technique are truly amazing as you make it seem so easy. Thank you for sharing what you do!
DANIEL, it is so good to read your affirmation about Gert van Hoef's hands and feet. I feel the same way. It is revealed every time I hear one of his RUclips videos or CDs. At 71 myself, I don't know how much longer GOD will permit me to view the relatively few young and upcoming organist-composer-arrangers, but it is a joyful thing to know that despite the worldwide decline in such musicians in churches, at least, the art of Organs and Organplaying lives on and is, I believe, increasing. As I'm writing, Gert is playing in the background his delightful, nearly Orchestral rendition of songs from SOUND OF MUSIC. One of my last wishes is to get to meet Gert and Marjolein in person and to hear and see them make music in concert.
At 1:26 on the video above, when you both looked out the plane's window, who was operating a movie camera (outside the plane????) Email: dale.rider@aol.com
What an awesome couple! Good Luck (Veel Succes) Gert and Marjolein as you travel for your concert in England. May God Bless you both as well as those hands and feet. :) I wish I could be there to hear you. Some day I hope. Thank you for sharing the video with us so we all can travel along. Play your heart out!!!!! and create magic on that organ, as I know you will. Much love and hugs to both of you. Godspeed!!!!!
A very nice presentation..A refreshing change in venue..A realistic view if what goes into preparing for one of these fine concerts...Thank you Gert and Marjolein......Best wishes.....JRZ Een zeer mooie presentatie..Een verfrissende verandering van locatie..Een realistisch beeld van wat er aan de voorbereiding van een van deze mooie concerten vooraf gaat ... Bedankt Gert en Marjolein ...... Beste wensen ..... JRZ
Gert, Thanks for sharing a bit of your trip with your wife and videographer to play another concert on the Conacher/Willis Organ in Victoria Hall at Hanely, Stoke-on-Trent, England. It was fun to watch with the Sound of Music playing behind the action. Especially appreciated is that you share your musical life with us as we travel in our respective lanes on this life journey.
Very nice video 😂 I had to smile very often. And the music fit and was very amusing. And then there is the anthem with very beautiful harmonies. Grand! 😌 😍
I’ve been following Gert since he was barely able to reach the peddles , made donations to him to help with his music, committed on his behalf and was a great fan of his friend Jan. And never received a love ❤ from my comments , I live in the USA 🇺🇸 New York , and so disappointed , that he never reads his comments , now he’s a man , marred with children and doesn’t know that I am alive , God bless you and your beautiful family ,Love Richard
Very interesting and unique travel video. Not only do I LOVE organ music but airports as well, even though I don't get to fly anywhere near as often as you do. I agree with one of the other comments the choice of excerpts from The Sound Of Music was very good.
toda a vida ouvi dizer...que atras de um grande homem esta sempre uma grande mulher....um grande organista so possivel também a grande competencia e ajuda da sua esposa! Parabéns pelo facto aos dois!!!
The organist at the forefront of this planet, thank you!
When you coming to London, Gert? St Paul´s Cathedral probably the best place. I´,m a new fan, since yesterday, and a rockin´ Motorhead nut. You´re real loud like them - you thumping away at ´Bomber´- yeah!
I loved this video, like a journeyman (old English term from 'homme de journee), a skilled crafstman travelling with his skills, but with independently recognised skills that meant they could work anywhere (from Hanseatic/Medieval times). Great footage, loved the flotilla of ships across the channel at 1:49, perhaps Rotterdam to London or Newhaven? For good or bad, doet je beseffen in wat voor een kleine wereld we leven, vooral tussen Nederland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk, die de meest vergelijkbare talen delen! (You can almost say this last sentence in Dutch and understand what it means in English!). And at 2:56 you can bet Gert and his wife were conversing in excellent English - the Dutch have extraordinary English skills, like the Scandinavians.
Hanley this week -where next ? Talent like this needs an international stage. There are so many brilliant organs in the UK and audiences waiting to see and hear Gert - come on impresarios !!
I love listening to Gert playing the organ. Real full quality playing with lots of 16, 32 and maybe 64 foot stops being used. I also love listening to the young German organist Paul Fey, also brilliant organist -and also love listening to a slightly different type of organ, the cinema/theatre organ and one organist in particular, recordings from the 1930's up to the 1970's of Reginald Dixon on the Blackpool Tower Wurlitzer pipe organ.
Wow! You and Marjolein have such a unique way of announcing important events in your life. That travel video was charming. Welcome back to England. Looking forward with great anticipation to the concert on Saturday. May I say how well and how you happy you both look. Parenthood obviously suits you both. Best wishes for the performance.
This is so weird! I live in the Bay Area (20 miles east of San Francisco) and it’s 11:30 a.m. August 9, 2019 and you guys are already a day ahead but also a day older! Greetings from the US!
England just feels a bit happier with you both here. I am so sorry I can't make it to Stoke this weekend but look forward to the video. Do you think you can fit some more visits to us over here next year. We also have a wonderful Father Willis concert organ in Reading. Just saying ;) Good luck for Saturday.
The sound of music vanaf 2.38 minuten .Do,re ,mi . Heerlijk deze op standje gehoorbeschadiging afgeluisterd . En nog een keer, en nog een keer, en nog een keer ....
As this is the month of my 90 birthday, from my little corner in Dorset, thank you Gert for giving mij friends in the Victoria Hall the privilege to listen to you, and could you play "het Wilhelmus" for us next time when you come?
It will be nice when you and your bride can come to tht USA in the near future. You can play at some of America's great churchs and practice your great midwest english accent.
I live in Stoke on Trent and I didn't know this concert was happening, or I would have been there for certain - you are a wonderful musician and that organ deserves to be played by someone so talented.

Love you! Thank you for sharing your smiles, travels and a few of your favorite things!
My granddaughter and I attended the concert on 10th August and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing Gert and Marjolein at the Victoria Hall again in 2021.
I absolutely love this video! I'm not even British or Dutch, but I have Dutch family roots. And I love the pipe organ!
THANK YOU GERT!

many hands in the industry 2 , who are working for your food.
Oh! Right, it's a god again. I'm going for pan. Poor Gert, just an empty vessel into which the almighty pan secreted his goodness.
Amen! It’s great to see the great music being played and kept alive by an incredibly talented young man
Oh, how nice! And the public is getting up and singing!

I look forward to another concert from Victoria Hall. Great choice for the sound track "The Sound of Music" on organ fits well. : ) John W.
Wonderfully played Gert and Marjolein, lovely performance and travel!
