Not only is Gert an excellent organist...but a very versatile, personable young man with a great sense of humor.....not to mention the beautiful assistant who compliments him and his talent.....and he speaks perfect English.......what more could us organ enthusiasts want??....Bravo Gert....
Alain Meyet (Paris)
😂. The physical appearance of Mrs van Hoef, his assistant, is relevant, do you think? What about Mr van Hoef's physical appearance? Not relevant? And is Mrs van Hoef not personable? Strange, old-fashioned attitude to women, you have. No wonder women get angry. LOL
What a great concert it was, Gert. Well worth my trip from Northern Ireland and a great opportunity to introduce a friend to the world of the pipe organ.
Thank you for posting these selections! Great to see Gert en Marjolein, wonderful young couple and so devoted to this fine music and instrument! Best wishes from Canada!
This young fellow has it all...most young organist are phenomenal technicians, he "is" the music. His spirit is of the ancients that have gone before him.
Dear Gert, I am pleased to know you will be playing and recording again at Victoria Hall. Your pevious concert there remains one of my very favorite videos. Wish I could be there in person, but alas, I can not. God bless you, Gert.
I think - the program speaks for itself. There is little anyone can say that has not been said about this boy with the magic fingers (and feet). What about an international tour? Well Done - Gert.
"Hope" by Yiruma is a very nice discovery! Always great to hear Gert perform my favorite piece, Toccata in F BWV 540, and Vierne finales (can't wait to hear him do the First one) Great work, Gert.
Bravo! Gert.
*One series of events I have wishlisted:* A United States tour for van Hoef, with stops to include (as of July 2017): 1. Adolphus Busch Hall, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. The 1958-vintage D. A. Flentrop III/33, originally specified by the late, great E. Power Biggs, is still operational after 58+ years. 2. Anabel Taylor Chapel, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. The 2011-vintage Yokota Munetaka II/30 is an exacting re-creation of the Arp Schnitger organ at Schloß Charlottenburg, which was destroyed along with the chapel during the war of 1939. 3. Historic Christ Church and Burial Ground (Episcopal/Anglican), Philadelphia, PA. C. B. Fisk Op. 150 is a brand-new III/49 commissioned to replace Æolian-Skinner Op. 926, an electric-action that required the bell tower for some of its resources. 4. Cathedral Church of St. Paul (Roman Catholic), Pittsburgh, PA. Recently overhauled by Taylor & Boody, Staunton, VA, the 1962-vintage von Beckerath IV/97 is a design on the scale of Schnitger's largest new builds of the late 17th Century. 5. First Congregational Church UCC, Columbus, OH. The 1972-vintage von Beckerath III/47 features a Brüstwerk-type swell and gallery-rail Positiv. 6. St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral (Anglican), Seattle, WA. 1965-vintage D. A. Flentrop IV/58, overhauled 1995 by Paul Fritts & Co. 7. All Saints Episcopal Church (Anglican), Palo Alto, CA. 1969-vintage D. A. Flentrop II/8. Probably a lot more instruments in the Midwest that may be suitable for a tour.
Hi Gert, Looking forward to both hearing you and meeting you again. I hope you enjoy your visit to Hanley as much my friends and I did on your last visit.
Today 's concert was as expected, superb. Good appreciative audience. Gert seems very happy and announced his engagement also his planned return in 2019. Prachtige concert Dank u wel.
Gert is a musician, not just a technician playing the organ. There is a huge difference. Probably why they invited him back. Can the U.S. be far behind?
I have been looking forward to this for months and booked my hotel as soon as I first heard the concert was planned. Seems like a good programme. Smetena variations ( Is uwe lamp wel brandend) as an encore perhaps ?
Went to see Gert today in Hanley. I enjoyed most of the set. A couple of pieces were over my head. I couldn't work out if his fiancee was the lovely Shirien from this video? She was too far away to tell and i don't remember Gert saying her name. Very remiss of him since she was working hard too.
Very good. Nice program. Wish I could hear the entire. Maybe they are here separately, I will have to check! Especially interested in the "Hope" by Yiruma!
Wow he has a fiancée now ! I'm quite jaleous, my girlfriend has no interest whatsoever in the organ, and the only close thing to a registrant I have is my brother, and I have to yell at him to change the registers, because he is too busy browsing reddit while I play...
Like the old joke, "Taste is like a nose - most people have one". I respect your taste, but like others who have responded, I enjoy Gert's musicality. In contrast, I really don't like Ton Koopman's organ playing, although I love his interpretation of Bach Passions...

marcel-nine-one-one the name of this years registrant was Marjolein, who is also his soon to be wife!
So what happened to Shirien and what did he do with the body? :)
Shirien looks as great as Marjolein. And I think some of his viewers come here for the female part of his vids.
Very good. Nice program. Wish I could hear the entire. Maybe they are here separately, I will have to check! Especially interested in the "Hope" by Yiruma!

I wonder who is you registrator haha ^^
I would gladly listen to you if you come to Belgium !
I think this is Gert's former girlfriend Shirien. I think this year his fiancée Marjolein will come along since she is his registrant now.
Wow he has a fiancée now !
I'm quite jaleous, my girlfriend has no interest whatsoever in the organ, and the only close thing to a registrant I have is my brother, and I have to yell at him to change the registers, because he is too busy browsing reddit while I play...

Nice music, but disappointed that you only show snippets of these pieces. I would prefer you play the entire pieces. Thanks.
The entire concert can be found on RUclips as well! Look for ‘ Concert Hanley 2015 Gert van Hoef’ It should be right at the top!
Zeer ,zeer indrukwekkend.

I don't know why anyone would go to see this Organist, what a waste of money. OMG he murders everything he plays so full of it.
