Gal 4:9,10: "You’ve gone back to the observance of days, months, seasons, and years. Why are you turning back to those weak and sorry Jewish rules… Why do you want to become slaves to them once again?" Jesus set us free from the Curse of the law (Gal 3:10-13), but some slap Him in the face and REJECT HIS SACRIFICE. He paid a debt he did not owe but then we reject Him and His loving care. What a slap to THE FACE OF CHRIST, just to feel self-righteous!
I work every other Saturday and Sunday as a carer for a man in a wheelchair. He needs a carer every day so the two of us carers take turns. God gave me this job. I am unable to 'rest' just on that one day of the week. Doctors, farmers, the police, the army etc. work during the Sabbath. A day of rest has to be a larger concept.
Yes, the Bible never says that Christians have to treat Sunday or Saturday as a day of rest. It is good to rest one day in seven, but we don't have to do it on a specific day of the week. As Paul says in Rom 14:5: 'One person judges one day to be more important than another day. Someone else judges every day to be the same. Let each one be fully convinced in his own mind.' The Bible has examples of Christians treating Sunday as a special day (Acts 20:7) and the Jewish Sabbath, i.e., sunset Friday to sunset Saturday, as a special day (Acts 21:20 by clear implication). But it never says that Christians must treat either of these days as special or rest on them.
As an M.D. I have a made it a priority to abide by the Lords command of Sabbath rest. Unfortunately, like you I work a minimum of 1 weekend a month and it grieves me to work on the Sabbath. My hope is the Lord understands our heart.
The Sabbath was made for man to have rest and get close to him, not for God, if that's all you can do it's fine. God wants a personal relationship with us, that's what is important.
The New Testament doesn’t teach that the 4th commandment has been abrogated. Christ fulfilled the law in Matthew 5 and said that not one dot of the law would ever be taken away until earth and heaven pass away. Law enforcement, doctors, and other such jobs are work of necessity like Jesus talks about in the NT. The puritans help explain out certain things why they are permissible through the teachings in the gospel. For example, Christ was accused of healing of the sabbath but that is an act of mercy. Acts of mercy are allowable on the sabbath and the same for necessities. Scripture never eliminates the 4th command and Christ perfectly obeyed and we should do. The sabbath is a lovely day where we rest, worship in private and public, and fellowship with believers. With that being said, it’s a hard thing to transition to and It’s okay if it’s not a perfect transition. However, I would stop working on the Lords day and give the whole day to the Lord. It’s a day of heaven in this crazy world :) Grace and peace. I hope I could encourage you!
“The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath” (Mark 2:27). These words of the Savior remind us that the Sabbath day was meant to be a blessing rather than a burden to those who observe it. Thoughts?
The question at the beginning of this video seems to make the mistake of trying to compare apples and oranges. The Sabbath rest of Christians is really something positional that we gain through faith in Christ - a status of being saved from sin. The kind of 'work' that we are freed from in Christ when we gain our Sabbath rest has nothing to do with working in a daily job.
For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. {Hebrews 9:16-17} And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and 👉rested the sabbath day according to the commandment. {Luke 23:56} ^ The new Covenant (testament) had already been sprinkled with the blood of Christ.
Jesus is not a day. Ye hath Jesus really said? “But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:” Yes! Remember the sabbath day (why?), to keep it holy.
I don't think the Bible ever says that Christ IS our Sabbath rest. Strictly speaking, Christ PROVIDES US WITH a Sabbath rest. That said, I think it is OK to refer to Christ as our Sabbath rest. This would be parallel to the way that Psalm 38:22, for example, refers to God as 'my salvation', where the meaning is that God provides David with salvation. I think these are examples of the figure of speech known as metonymy.
Read Hebrews 3 and 4. The rest was always about the real rest that Christ was going to give His people. We rest from our works. Praise be to the Lord! That was a foreshadowing of what was to come. Here's some of Hebrew 4:6-7 [6] Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, [7] God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart."
@@stand4truth607 I agree with you. I was just commenting on the fact that the Bible doesn't say explicitly that Christ is Christians' Sabbath rest, although it is fine to speak in this way.

The fact people still claim that in 2023 makes the mind boggle
True. The fact that many Christians don't know about that makes me wonder on what do they base their belief that Sunday is the Lord's day?
