We should stop trying to be any type of “ist”, or identifying with any “isms”, and know God through simple faith in Jesus. The pressure of salvation is off of us, and the mystery of salvation and God’s omniscience is beyond us. The book of Job is a solemn reminder to stop trying to sort out the “how” and start honoring the Lord.

I don't know who calvin is nor do i follow him or whatever that is but I know who Jesus Christ is. The Son of God who was set forth by God as a propitiation for my sins, and for the worlds sins, and was crucified on a cross as my sin offering. He was delivered onto death for our transgressions and was raised to life for our justification. There is redemption and forgiveness in the blood of Christ and I know that God has legally purchased my soul with the blood of Christ and has made me a slave to righteousness and freed me from sin. Jesus Christ is the Way.

Here’s how: admit that the truth lies in a proper balance of Calvinist and Arminian points: sovereignty AND free will. It’s an antinomy. We are not puppets on strings, and we are accountable, and we are free to walk away from our salvation if we so choose. Then… you’ll be more humble.

    • @marius-9333

First: that puppet stuff is invented by Arminians
      Second: you are ALWAYS ACCOUNTABLE
Third: free will to what? The Bible says we are slaves to sin and when born again we become slaves of Christ so, where's the freewill part? You either serve one or the Other. Period.
And Fourth: Arminius was a heretic

I think Calvinism is that balance. No Calvinist (except the hyper-calvinist) actually believes we are puppets, and have no free will. And most assuredly Calvinists believe in God's sovereignty. The difference is simply in how we define that free will. The Calvinist would say that we are free creatures, but our own nature and desires control our will (or our faculty of choice), whereas the Arminian would say otherwise.
And also, about you saying we walk away from our salvation, I do believe that every sinner, elect or not, has the choice to walk away from salvation. Of course we do. To say otherwise is redundant because it would destroy the idea of free will, even in the Calvinist sense. You see this when a sinner rejects the Gospel every time you proclaim it. Unless God changes our hearts, I do believe that everyone would slam the doors of hell shut in the face of God. That's why God must elect people to salvation (ie. To give them new hearts that love God, and choose Him).
Correct me if I am wrong though. I am still new to all this. But this is my understanding of it.

Read the book of Jonah, it shows the balance between free will and sovereignty.
You always choose and God’s plan will prevail. You don’t know God’s plan, which is why you need to act, having faith that he is always sovereign.
Despite some thinkings, God does not ordain every action in your life (like you smoking), but will indeed step in to fulfill His plan if needed (if you are not meant to die from it, he will make you quit sooner or later)

Everything else is what people have pulled out of their own understanding. These are all man made concepts. I’ll tell you this. When I’m speaking with someone about scripture and God; I can tell instantly if they have read the Bible or not. If 2 men with different mindsets read the Bible cover to cover, they will have the same general beliefs. It’s amazing. I have met people across the planet that has never heard of any of these “belief systems” and or domination… but yet, we understand each other completely.

Calvinism is not of God. It is an error and so it will only produce what error produces- PRIDE. The Pharisees were proud because the soil of their heart was prepared with their man- made traditions of their elders. So each time the truth was presented to them, in order to protect their traditions they grew in PRIDE. JESUS said to them, "you do err not knowing the scripture nor the power of God. You make void the power of God by your tradition". Calvinism fulfils this scripture perfectly Mark 7:13, it voids the power of God by the propagation of man made traditions. Calvinist churches are also void of DEMONSTRABLE POWER of God. The quotes of men are more valued or even revered alongside scripture.
Calvinism lead to two ends - Absolute Fatalism and a Malevolent arbritarily unjust God.
There's no 'cop out' if you follow that tradition to its logical conclusion, and I know this as I too was a Calvinist and wrestled with this thoughts daily. Thank God He delivered me from that deception. My heart never agreed with it even though I thought I saw reasons to it. No calvinist has peace knowing that the logical end of that doctrine is a very maligned character of a God that is meant to be Just and Holy. They know this, and can never answer it. They abdicate to the mystery of God. The secret things of God belong to God Deut 29:29, But salvation is not a secret thing of God, God has revealed it to us throughout scripture and finally in Christ. And revealed things are meant to be understood, not run away from. Even the last book of the bible is called THE REVELATION. Beloved God wants us to know Him for that is the true essence of eternal life.
    Shalom beloved.
    Stay away from Calvinism

some will say “if he is love then should have saved everyone”
The love itself is shown with “He didn’t need to save any of us, but did save some without deserving it”
There is no pride, the ones practicing boasting are in wrong.
True Christian’s know well we deserved nothing but hell (either Calvinist or Arminian)
I don’t know you, but I have seen people that were so against God, become a christian later on, people that I thought “that person will never believe” Rm 9:16
And I have seen people growing in faithful families and even pastors, step away from faith 1 JN 2:19

The issue isn't Calvinism, the issue is when the focus is on those elements instead of Christ. Those that just spend time focusing on arguing and only focusing on a set of doctrines can struggle. Often I see reformed is a better term, because it's clear in the Bible we have free will, but we are also depraved and are incapable of seeking God, he must call us. But this doesn't mean were robots.

Thanks for your comment. You know I used to think this too until I discovered that our Spirits are tripartite (Conscience, Intuition and Communion) and what was corrupted at the fall was communion. The part of us that we use to fellowhsip with God, for God is Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. We still have our conscience and our intuition as like a 'DIVINE RESIDUE'. This parts in our spirit are still of DIVINE ORIGIN so when God's WORD (which is of divine origin) is preached, they like a magnet are pulled towards each other, giving the hearer of the word an inner witness that 'This is true'. Even if they reject the truth, they know 'there's something about this thing I'm hearing'. This is why we preach to the hearts of people knowing that there's a foundation that every man who's scientient has an innate knowledge of God irrespective of culture, tribe or background. God's law is written in our hearts as proof. God did not leave man without a witness. YES we FELL, and from that point onwards is decay (because COMMUNION is severed and we are therefore separated from our source of life) but when we are born again COMMUNION is restored and you become like whom you fellowship with. Our consciences however damaged they are, at salvation begins to be set right, by our INTUITIONS (which an unbeliever calls, "gut feeling") we begin our walk with the Holy Spirit step by step, hearing His commands and obeying.
The ark of the covenant that was in the HOLY OF HOLIES which was the seat of communion had two main things within the ARK. The tablets of 10 COMMANDMENTS (a type of our CONSCIENCE) and Aaron's Rod that Budded (a type of our Intuition). And the top of the Ark from where the Voice of God spoke to MOSES Numbers 7:89 (A type of our COMMUNION). This is also were the Blood had to be sprinkled "Mercy Seat" so that COMMUNION is restored year after year. Thank God for JESUS CHRIST who by His blood entered in ONCE into the Holy place to offer eternal redemption for sins.
      Continue in Christ brother@@joshuamaddrey19

Brother, thank you for your comment
Since you brought up Romans 9. Were it possible also that Romans 9 is not talking about individual arbritrary election. I believe scripture is very clear that election has nothing to do with individual salvation, but uses those analogies of "Jacob have I loved and Esau have I hated" to paint to us a picture contrasting between the law and grace.
For the Law came through Moses, Grace and truth came to Jesus Christ
God is clearly demonstrating to us that His prefered method for saving people is through Grace not the law. Chronologically in time, the law came first, grace came later when Christ shed His blood. God gave us various picture of His preference was the 2nd not the 1st. This has and had nothing to do with ESAU OR JACOB it all had to do with God's eternal preference from eternity past on how He was going to bring about salvation. just as it says in Rom 9:11 "For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of Him that calleth it was said unto her, the elder shall serve the younger". God is clearly describing here that it is not that THE LAW is bad or that GRACE is better, BEFORE the foundations of the earth He chose to save us by the latter not the former. Therefore Paul says the Law was our School master to bring us to CHRIST (Grace). The LAW served GRACE, not by any fault of the LAW by itself but because this is how God chose to reveal His Salvation.
DIVINE ELECTION IS GOD CHOOSING TO EXTEND HIS SALVATION THROUGH THE AGENCY OF GRACE NOT LAW. The elder (chronologically) must serve the younger.
The election of God can be seen in many examples from scripture that highlighted God's preference for the LATTER not the FORMER. I will list a few were the elder served the younger:
      Adam ---- Christ (Last Adam)
      Ishmael ---- Isaac
      Saul ----- David
Moses ---- Joshua (YEHOSHUA) It is not a mistake that the one who took Israel into the Promised land was also called JESUS. Remember the Law came through Moses
      Vashti ---- Queen Esther
Israel as a nation---- Zion (Body of Christ including Jew & Gentile)
Thank you brother for your courteous response, maybe consider this interpretation of Election through prayer. God bless you @@aroB777

After all these years my family and friends remain unbelievers no matter how much I share the Gospel....so I stopped.

Let me help you here "How can I become a Humbler follower of Christ?" Well first off don't accept Calvinism, it's a false philosophy that worships a false view of God's sovereignty. God doesn't have to control all things to be sovereign, He is sovereign because He is the ultimate authority & He rules as He pleases. It pleases Him to give us the ability to choose Him or not. To be humble we must follow Christ example. Be kind, compassionate, stand up for truth & goodness, love everyone. This leads to humility

I would have never chosen God had it not been for Him to open eyes and ears. I was doomed not just eternally but also in this life. Why would I want full will in authority to reject the living, loving God that I know. I was conscripted for my good.

@@jessethomas3979The word Rapture…isn’t in the Bible either but 1 Thess 4:16 clearly describes the rapture event in the future. The word Trinity as you stated isn’t found either but many scriptures describe Father God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit!! 1 John 5:7 says there are 3 that bear witness in Heaven. The Father, The Word which is Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit!! That definently describes the Trinity!!!!

    Jesus died for ALL. Period.
Would you as a parent be so callous as to bestow favor on certain of your children but shut out the rest of your offspring? Far be it from us to assign such nonsense to God. Multitudes of verses state he died for all, wants all to be saved, draws all men. Why draw all then refuse them? Of course not all will choose him. We do have free will!
The TULIP of Calvinism is heresy.

Exactly, the problem doesn’t fall on God but man who chooses sin rather than Gods gift. So he calls people but chooses few

Start to be humble…stop classifying your faith. Calling yourself Calvinist? Sounds like idolatry to a sect to me.
    Drop the labels

Calvinism is NOT a "humbling doctrine." On the contrary, Calvinism leads to pride. Here is why: The subconscious fills in the gap as to the reason why God chose him/her, since surely, God is not arbitrary. The subconscious tells the self that there must be something good or righteousness in self for God to have chosen him/her. Calvinism creates ignoble people like Donald Trump. Unless we know the truth and understand that we have been chosen and given the grace for our humility (James 4:6-7; 1 Peter 5:5), we will not be set free. We will continue to be ruled by this subconscious pride and Satan. Humility is knowing your place. It is thinking of yourself not too high or hypocritically too low.

There's no gap to be filled. Why did God choose me every "Calvinist" knows He choose me fo his glory and that alone should be humbling because it's a privilege and not withstanding of what I do or where I stand HE get the Glory.
