Im completely covered in chills and tears in my eyes. 1994 ; I'm in my barracks room in Camp Pendleton, CA. Listening to an alternative music station on cable TV. I hear this song and immediately find a cassette tape to record it. The tape ends up lost , and I'm searching for 30 years to find out who the band is. 2024 ; Listening to the thunder roll in off the Gulf of Mexico, as the sun rises. I'm looking up The Chameleon's tour , because I missed them last year with The Mission (another great band) , and I'm dying to see them. I see this band I've never heard of as the opening act , so I'm checking them out on RUclips. The first time that comes up is Soul in a Jar , and I instantly remembered it's that great song from 94!!! I absolutely love this song , it'll be on repeat all day , lol. So today I finally found something I lost 30 years ago , and I'm getting turned on to a great new band! See you guys in October!!!
This band broke genres and stereotypes, yet sadly never found their place as they were simply ahead of their time. Such a phenomenal track - I especially love the long, groovy outro...
i just did too and its all amazing. kinda crazy how they never got any mainstream cred. at least i wouldn't think so as i have been looking into shoegaze for over a decade now
These are the most kind and giving people I know....I am proud to call them friends as they took me in when I had no place to stay in nyc...really good people....extreme talents.
@@DanielChavis Damn straight! Greetings from Dan in St Paul. Last night I was showing some friends of the pics I took when you guys played the Palace here in March 2017, during a fricken blizzard! Really hoping you guys can make it up here again soon. cheers!
I remember them from my A&T days. My boy Cory Mason-Hogans is great friends Daniel and he use to stay at my house when he was in Greensboro NC. I love their music...
What up, thanks for sharing/caring for the music. Just played my first show w/ the Connells. incredibly fun. All the sons I like.Looking for Peele's drum parts, is what brought me here. We're playing in Raleigh at Kings Barcade, 9/14. I'm in Chapel Hill. Have you seen I was a teenageshoegazer.blog.com
I love this band a song as well but I'm going to be shallow and ask if anyone knows who the woman in this video is please tell me. Damn, she's phenomenal!!!
+Christopher Walker Because the video for Green Day's "Longview" segues into this one, on the VHS that this was ripped from. I subscribed to Rock Video Monthly, too, and remember the sequencing.
New EP out today on Little Cloud Records! New Full length coming soon as well! Check it out! theveldtmusic.bandcamp.com/album/electric-revolution-rhythm-and-drone-ep

They’re still active. Just played a couple of show with them and got another in a couple of weeks!
Ikr dude that's like the best outro I ever listened to
They were great opening for the Cocteau twins! Great show!!!! They rocked it out!!
How is it I just discovered this band??! I’m 33 years old! Bout to dive into their entire discography now 😊😊🎉
i just did too and its all amazing. kinda crazy how they never got any mainstream cred. at least i wouldn't think so as i have been looking into shoegaze for over a decade now
One of the most underrated bands of all time - this is just incredibly fantastic…
Music has finally caught up with The Veldt, decades later.
Legend has it that the drummer and the guitarist are still grooving
Great opening band for cocteau twins..HOLV tour..they rocked then soothed afterwards..like his Sioux shirt..
Saw them last week. Had never heard of them before. BLOWN AWAY!
The Veldt's "Afrodisiac" is still one of my favorite albums and is one that I always find myself coming back to.
Such a great band. So creative. I'm so happy they just put out a new album. illuminated 1989, get you your copy!
My favorite song forever

A Black shoegazey band?! Y’all I’m in love 😍
blackgaze .____.
Check out A.R. Kane as well (from 90’s, try ‘haunting’ track)
@@jenvon138 thank you for this recommendation my mind is so blown in a good way
ikr 😻
Sometimes they were called soulgaze.
This should have been much bigger than it was given the chance to be.
A band that unfortunately was sabotaged by blind record companies and some blind music "critics".....js,they should be way bigger than what they are.
Not to diminish your point but critics like this album. It’s on pitchforks top 50 shoegaze albums
@@Trouser_J_Slacks I did say "some" critics, but I get your point
@@Trouser_J_Slacks yeah but 20 years later, not back in the day
Had the pleasure of working with them over the years. So fresh in retrospect.
I feel like everyone can like this song. It’s got something for literally any person.
Love the sounds this band makes!
This song is killer!!! 90's showgaze had a force to it and I still listen to it all the time.
FANTASTIC !!! LOVE this track 💗

How can you not like this song ? Shout out to my boys love this song
Easily one of my fav tracks of the 90's... ahead of their time maybe. Still sounds awesome.
were opening for them here in asheville NC this coming thursday and i couldnt be more excited
love this so much
Danny on the Jaguar! So rad.
I LOVE this song and have for years. These guys should have been HUGE. Thanks for posting.
Unfortunately they were way way ahead of their time
Very new to them. They make me want to immediately go play stuff on guitar. Those are good bands in my opinion
They were such a great band. Incredible live. It's a shame they weren't around that long.
WE ARE!😊

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!
Siguen sonando frescos chicos como la primera vez que los escuche.
finally found 1!awesome soul&shoegaze band!
They're touring again!
Should have been bigger back then, but we can probably guess the story, too "this" not enough "that". Still dig Apollo Heights/The Veldt.
Mix some INXS with dc talk and voila - sheer brilliance🌟👍🏻
Sounds as splendid as their debut album Afrodisiac
does anyone know the lyrics?
1994
Tamara Griffen...Monica Tinson....Evan Hammond

They came back under as Apollo Heights
shoutout the dude from r/ifyoulikeblank
As Green Day fades out at the beginning. :-D
@@winfredshaw8542 Could be.
Amazing how that lame Green Day song that precedes the Veldt one on this VHS tape (which I own) became a big hit, but the amazing Veldt song did not
Black band with a white bassist, I’ve seen it all.
They absolutely would've taken off if they were a little later in my opinion
I love this band a song as well but I'm going to be shallow and ask if anyone knows who the woman in this video is please tell me. Damn, she's phenomenal!!!
someone hook it up with lyrics
Why would it start off with that utter crap from that crappy band 'green gay' err, uh green day
