This explains why there are so few black head coaches in the NFL and College. If you have been hiring your friends and your friend's kids since the 50s.... well we all know what happened in the 50s. White privilege does not mean you didn't have hurdles in your life, it means that your race was not one of them. And clearly, this demonstrates how difficult it is for black coaches to get a shot. Hey, I realize that you can't judge someone solely on his connection to one bad apple but you also would never be able to convince me that McVay didn't know long before those emails that Gruden was clearly just a racist, glorified used car salesmen. I'm not saying McVay is anything like Gruden because I obviously don't know the guy personally but it does make you wonder as close as they are (not were) if McVay is just another smooth talking blowhard himself...With that said I respect the mans work ethic and the long hours he puts in to try and perfect his craft.
