"A Mad Max Saga" - with literally no Mad Max. Just call it Furiosa Begins, or Furiosa.
It's like calling Rogue One "A Luke Skywalker Story"
They don’t have any other identifier for the Mad Max universe than that.
Exactly, just start a new franchise and the the chips fall where they may ....
Naw, Mad Max is a name that's so well known. People use those words to describe places. For Example; "Yeah, Burning Man is very Mad Maxy, you know." Boom with that you've said so much without having to use three paragraphs to describe that experience.
@@Unworshipediety anyone who says "Mad Maxy" should face the wheel
Fury Road was more of an Furiosa film than Mad Max so I don't have any interest in this. I want another Max focused movie first and foremost.
Or you can pop in The Road Warrior again like the rest of us
@@Nova-fh2et Max isn't the main character in that either.
@@Criner05Bullshit. Everything happens because of Max in that movie. Only Jay from RLM and other weirdos make this argument
@@Criner05 true, i guess. I would still call him the focus of the film though, even if it's framed from another character's point of view
I only consider watching for Joe's origin story. Furiosa is not interesting in the slightest.
Didn’t they already make a Furiosa movie called Fury Road?
Even if she's NOT a girl boss, she's a "little" women in a brutal world of MEN; she wouldn't survive five(5) minutes. It's not even close to being believable; it's the fantasy of putting women everywhere, however the situation may be. 😖
In the Mad Max world, we want to see a special kind of super tough (anti) hero making his way or bending it to his will.
We all know *exactly* what would happen to a girl like that in a post apocalyptic world, and it would *not* be her kicking ass and taking names. It would be horrific and awful. (same with Fallout)
@@jessekoepp3928 Yup! It's not even close to being realistic.
They are a little more subtle in writing feminine characters, but still: it's very, very unrealistic.
It's trash, no one wants to see yet more bait and switch, we want to see Mad Max in a Mad Max movie.
@@jessekoepp3928 Correct she would be passed around more than a nudey mag at summer camp. They can't sell this to any logical man, we see through this scenario of women who wouldn't need male protection in a post dystopian future. And now they have done the Girl Lead so much and So often as the Norm most men are gonna reject it and we are the core audience.
@@jessekoepp3928yep she’d be taking it up the ass and then some.
Even if this movie is good, at the end of the day it’s one more male oriented franchise they’ve feminized. Men just can’t have anything anymore
No we are not hyper sensitive it’s because we have gotten girl bosses for 10 years plus. So we are skeptical. And what makes a girl boss is if she can do unrealistic things that a girl could not physically do.
My guy if that's the thing then any random superhero could fit that criteria. Us, guys can't do shit like Captain America either.
In superhero movies that is okay I think. But even then you see that the stuntmen are very compliant. Usually I think there are just roles that can only really be played by women or men respectively.
Is there anything wrong with a girlboss? No, but if the characters a bitch trying to "own" the people around her then that's okay to shit on
@@aaron827 Well I think it goes withtout saying outside of superhero movies. For me the problem is that it is often very visible that the stuntmen are very accommodating. That really takes me out of the movie. If you want a woman to at least believably hold their own she should at least have arms like Gina Carano.
@@aaron827 you said superhero. I did not. Obviously a superhero is different. This is a 90 lbs malnutrition female that grew up in an apocalypse, with men twice her size that have been terrorizing the apocalypse ravaged world. At least make it somewhat believable.
A Mad Max film with no Mad Max and a strong, independent that don’t need no man! Yeah, let me line up to see that piece of shit! 🙄
As much as I like FR especially the chase scenes, it really was her movie. It felt like Max was aside character in his own movie. She's the one with the story, mission and the mcguffin seeds and kills the main antagonist. So I don't know why we needed a prequel. We already know how it plays out. And it seems disengoius to even call it a Mad Max Saga.
Agreed.
You know what I would have loved to have seen? A Warboys movie. Just call it "Warboys", no Mad Max tag needed because people will know what it is. Make it about a kid lost in the wasteland who joins a gang/cult for protection and fights his way up through the ranks. It's a corruption arc.
Sorry wouldn't happen. Now wargirls would have been made for sure
Yeah, but good luck getting funding for that from woke capital. If you're going to make a movie where a white male is portrayed as a victim, you're making it on your own dime.
Who’s asking for a female lead that over shadows the established OG male lead?
Let’s bring in your replacement just like what is being attempted with Indiana Jones and Spider-Man with Miles Morales.
When the first came out and max was sidelined in his own movie i knew they were going to go woke with a girl boss
Lighten up.
@@Criner05 beeeeta!
Yup
Another girl who is the key to everything? Come on....isnt this getting really old?
She is a leading women in a Hollywoodmovie.
She is already a girl boss in my eyes and you can't convince me otherwise.
The comparison between Alien doesn't work either Hollywood was different it was better.
People would consider Ripley a girl boss if Alien came out today. Give it a rest.
It's too unrealistic for me to get lost in the fantasy of a physically weak person doesn't get graped and totally owned in a post-apocalyptic world, meh, pass.
Dude all of the new mad max are girl boss movies
I believe that a lot of people have now been trained - full Pavlov's Bell here - to consider even any suggestion of 'Girl Boss, or 'Woke' as though it's in ever scene being thrust in their faces.
For years, films and TV shows have come out that carry 'The Message' like a sword and shield, and people have quite rightly clapped back on it, but now they don't need to be so blatant about it to get the same response, and that's what they wanted, so they can point and go 'See, see how ridiculous they are?'
But they are the minority so they come across as the ridiculous ones. Sure the MSM can champion their cause but nobody gives them any credence at all... either. And that scares the establishment.
Doesn't matter. It's not a Mad Max film which is the point of Mad Max.
We want mad max, not mad maxipad.
😂😂😂
Lol
👍🔥👍
If I drank milk, this would be the point where it shot right out of my nose
Sounds like you watched the whole video. I bet women love you a lot, buckaroo. A real Don Juan.
These films take about 3 plus years to hit the theaters. I believe we are seeing the tail end of these girl boss anti white male, anti male in general, super girl hero movies with stolen valor of our male lead brands and characters being used to promote this crap.
Furiosa may not technically be a "girl boss", but that doesn't change the fact that she is replacing Mad Max as the focus of the so-called Mad Max franchise. The only two so-called Mad Max movies in the past 25 years have been focused on her, with Max sidelined in Fury Road and completely absent in this one. FT seems to be doing the old Snopes trick of re-framing the question so that it avoids the problem that the fans are actually upset about.
He wasn’t sidelined in Fury Road. Fury Road isn’t much different plot wise from The Road Warrior. He was running that shit in that movie’s 2nd & 3rd acts and the movie begins with his narration, capture & escape attempt. They’d have all been dead 3 times over if not for Max, he is the realist and the lynchpin of Fury Road. The fans aren’t upset about anything, it’s a small subset of MM fans, the HeMan Woman Haters Club. You’d be whinging about Tina Turner’s presence in the third movie being “unrealistic” if you were around then.
@@ShakaCthuluBullshit. You’re just going to go full propagandist here, huh?
@@ShakaCthulu No Tina Turner was a true strong women, she had henchmen doing her bidding which is believable. Furiosa is unbelievable and unrealistic.... and Mad Max should be the focus of all the Mad Max movies. And yes a lot of fans are upset not just a small subset of us. Stop the shilling.... it's clearly obvious.
Sidelined? Like Road Warrior? Beyond Thunderdome?
Things that happened in Fury Road.
Max and Nux (chained btw) fight and defeat a group of women including Furiosa.
Furiosa asks Max for help.
Max advises Furiosa and Feminist hags to not go into the wasteland and gives a better plan. (this is a common thread through Max movies)
Feminist Hags who are out of their depth get their shit pushed in and Max takes control.
Max save Furiosa with blood transfusion.
But he was sidelined.
@@ShakaCthulu FR bears no resemblance to TRW other than that there is a chase with a tanker and the big bad wears a mask. In FR Furiosa was the protagonist, Max was the sidekick at best. (spoilers) Furiosa stole/rescued Joe's wives and decided where they were going, Furiosa tricked Max about the kill switches on the rig so he couldn't steal it (an inversion of Max pulling the same trick several times in TRW), the big bad was ended by Furiosa and one of his wives. Sure, later Max told Furiosa to go back, but one of Joe's wives had already come up with the plan of how they would do it.
George Miller is 80+ years old and still making movies.
Witness him.
It could be decent, still not interested in it. Girl like that wouldn't last an hour without becoming some warlords toy for a week before he broke her and found a new one.
I'd rather rewatch the OG Mad Max movies, they were harsh af, but also very entertaining.
What the world really needs is a "Boy and His Dog" sequel. Of course they'd probably gender and species swap it to "A Girl and Her Cat".
yes, because she has literally pushed out the male protag from his own franchise
Alan's right. Even if she's not a girl boss she's still yet another female action hero in what was traditionally a male dominated space.
Who really wants to see women doing and being the victim of violence? Bring back old fashioned male action heroes.
Bad behavior must be punished and this industry has gone unpunished for their bad behavior for far too long. So even if she's not a girl boss it's time for the consumer's message to be sent.
These movies don't interest me at. The new generation is just rehashed with nore green screen, less story. I have no interest whatsoever, even less with a girl action hero. It's tired. When are adults going to quit playing fantasy all the time?
Jeez
I was out when the preview said "see how the mad max saga began"
First off stop saying everybody's hypersensitive No the world is over the girl boss thing for the past 10 years that's all it's been You can't do something for 10 years and then think that people are going to be like yeah this makes sense. And who asked for female spin off of mad Max nobody that's another thing You spin-offs with female characters and a franchise who is dominated by mail whose main character is male Y'all got to stop doing spin-offs about a female character in a world that is hypermasculine or franchises hypermasculine. And asking the audience who predominantly is male to give a movie a chance where the female character is the lead in a world where she's a badass after we've been doing the same thing for 10 years No people aren't sensitive they're just over it they're tired That's a reason why people don't go to these movies anymore because it might be a good movie but the 10 years of trash don't resolve one or a knowledge all of the terrible crap girl boss movies we've had over the years
I was only interested in Furiosa in Fury Road. She was a great one off character just for that film (like Auntie Entity from Beyond Thunderdome). But, I was never interested in seeing this film back when it was announced because her character isn’t interesting enough to warrant a standalone film to me, let alone the Citadel, Immorten Joe and his crew. I’m not saying I won’t see this film, which I might watch on streaming. But this isn’t enough for me to warrant going to the theater for. But, that’s just me.
Girlboss checklist:
Is she obnoxious
Is she condescending to men
Does she has every right answer
Is she under 100lbs snd can take down 200lb men
Is her stunt double an actual man
Is her only struggle is not reaching her full potential
Can she wield weapons and fight at MMA levels with no training or little training
Does she learn skills that take other people years and for them to praise her for learning so quickly
The Day of The Gurl Boss has ended
We just don’t trust Hollywood anymore. 🤷🏽♂️
For a year now we've been losing Chris and this channel... Which explains a lot as to why we ARE losing this war. We do not fuqin need a mad max movie without a real mad max, and no matter how "well written" this movie supposedly is its stil absolutely about 'the message'
they need to still work in the industry
Sounds like you're having your period.
@@adrianmizen5070 So it’s basically the Chris Stuckmann argument. Don’t shit where you eat? How, then, can we trust their word if they are more concerned about staying in the good graces of the industry (which is dying btw) than giving a subjective review?
@@fishjones4618These people are all ultimately shills because their livelihood depends on the industry. They're sympathisers trying to "save" and "redirect" Hollywood, lol.
As if they can or deserve to be saved.
Is Furiosa a Girl Boss? Is it the 2020s??? SMH.
They've seen the movie. You haven't.
Anya taylor is a known feminist. So its expected for people to see her as a girlboss. Whether she is or not in the movie is why we watch reviews
I know nothing about Anya, but she has a hyphenated name. These people can't even try to hide it.
My wife was pissed at the forehead touch lol
Welcome back Chris! Hope you're doing well 🙏🏽
Chris! Glad to hear you getting even better. Been a fan since G4. Viva storytelling!
I just want to see some great generation x action from this movie
I agree with Alan that the touching of foreheads was kind of a platonic kiss. Praetorian Jack was her mentor, fa chrissake! If they'd kissed, that would have injected a whole new element in the story, *which wasn't needed.* Also, remember, her mother touched her forehead to a female companion as a gesture of farewell and luck-wishing. Maybe we should have been treated to a romance, but that would have made the movie longer.
Is she a manic pixie dreamgirl? I miss that era.
Failure to read the room leads to film bombing.
Nobody asked for a Furiosa prequel and now was not the time to try it.
The way the movie was promoted in the trailer, didnt show her losing, which made me very sceptical.
Furiosa in Fury Road was pretty mild as far as her Girl Boss/Mary Sue aspects, but only in the context of current day. It was actually refreshing to see a woman not totally kick a guy's ass for once. How sad is that? In reality, or in pre-2000 cinema, the fight just wouldn't happen at all.
From "girl boss" to squirrel boss 😂
I hear Chris, but I can't seem to see him anywhere...?
I really don't care if she's a girl boss or gets her ass kicked. I'm just not interested in a movie about Furiosa! I want to see Mad Max, I'm not here for some chick I don't care about!
6:20 So the same forehead touch that Caesar gave the human dude at the end of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Her mom is more of a girl boss then Furiosa. She loses fights along the way and has to get hardened to how tough this world is now.
I watched the trailer for this and instantly knew I didnt care to watch it. Nothing good is coming out and I expect that will be the case for years to come.
Maybe not but its hard to blame people for jumping to that conclusion in today's environment! Some good flix might suffer until Hollywood gets the message!
People shouldn't jump to conclusions.
@@Criner05 people shouldn't do a lot of things but yet ...
@@Criner05they screwed us over time and time again. They deserve the lack of faith and outright rejection
a Mad Max movie without Mad Max 🫤
Mad Max Fury Road was just Furiosa : the movie. This is her prequel. Mad Max just had a small part.
Change my mind.
The forehead touching scene was fine. It was established in the previous movie and in the beginning of this one as a thing they just do in the Green Place peoples' culture, so I thought it made perfect sense that she was just passing that on. It was a symbol of their bonding. Now. Could they have then developed that relationship further and had them kiss at a pivotal moment in a later scene? Sure, that would've been very effective probably.
My friend an I were talking about this movie. Now in Fury Road, Mad Max and Furiosa were about the same age. Max was an adult when the apocalypse happened, so shouldn't Furiosa also have grown up in the pre-collapse world?
Also, is her name really Furiosa? I thought that was a title she earned from the gang she was in.
_Imperator_ is her title.
@@atticstatticthat’s so gay
Dunno. It's a spin-off for a character nobody cared about in the first place. Why would you see the film, even if you are a Mad Max fan? No idea why they made it, tbh.
I'm not judging it at this point, and I really enjoyed Furiosa's character in Fury Road. She was strong and competent, but it wasn't exceptionally unrealistic (I expect a degree of unrealistic activity in any action movie, that's just part of the genre). She got her butt kicked by a drained, tired Max who had one hand tied to someone else, and then she needed him to keep her from rushing off into the desert to die, and THEN she needed him to survive when he gave her a transfusion. She struggled, and failed, and finally she overcame. I enjoyed the arc and the symbolism of the arc. So until I see otherwise, I have faith that Miller will continue to give us a compelling character.
Exactly. Refreshing to see a FT viewer who gets it.
Thank you!
Batman needs Alfred too, but you don't see Batman-focused movies being sold as being about Alfred. Necessary and dependable assistant vs. protagonist.
I do have issue with those that claim Fury Road was ground zero for the current year issues. The Mad Max franchise always had female characters (Aunty Entity, Warrior Woman in Road Warrior) and Mad Max was always a wounder character that came across into another story so I hardly think she "stole" the movie from Max. Furiosa is hardly on the levels of Captain Marvel.
Her name isn't Max, so I'm fine with this.
Looking forward to it.
Well-made movie. Enjoyed it lot…
I absolutely hated the Furiosa character in the last Mad Max film, she was in it so much you didn't get a sense who Tom Harden's Mad Max's was. I don't give a shit how good this movie is it's a hard pass for me.
"I could have swore?" "I could have swore?" Oh, come on, Alan! Swear is a modal verb.
Swear (Present)
Swore (Past)
Have sworn (Past perfect)
Chris Gore is starting to remind me of punished Solid Snake.
Typical sentence: it's like, i mean, like, you know it is like, it's like
The problem is she's not Mad Max.
Bravo for not making her a "girl boss". But the took another Male character and dethroned him.
I been burned too many times, not going to bother with this one.
Sounds like a "Girl Boss" implemented correctly.
Doesn't matter if she is or isn't a Mad Max movie, without Mad Max, is a recipe for failure
Yes. She is. She was more interesting as the female aide character in the first movie 🤷
No Mel Gibson? Not really a Mad Max film.
Honestly I have not seen the movie as i saw the last Max movie where they made Max a subplot character in his own film as such i was completely turned off the character and I have no interest in seeing this film as it is not a Mad Max film for me With out Max.
I'm glad to hear that you all think it is not a Girl boss movie but it still does not make me want to see it.
It's like kissing is weird but hey let's put senseless nudity that's not weird. Films always go one way or another drastically now
I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind yesterday, and I will admit... my eyes got a little watery ... not because of the movie ending, it never made me emotional, but because I know we will never again see masterpieces like this as long as woke dominates Hollywood and all other forms of media, woke is morally and creatively bankrupt.
Furiosa in Fury Road wasn't a girlboss, she was strong but didn't overpower the main character, although she hated him but she was a badass in her way and she earned her praise
About two thirds of the movie was about Furiosa and her quest for the “green”. It was when she realized that she fucked up and condemned those women to death that the movie realized that it was a Mad Max movie and got really good.
@@fishjones4618 Fury Road ONLY GOT GOOD in the last 3rd??? Bro... it's a masterclass in film beginning to end.
@@spacebase00 Pretty visuals don’t make up for a lackluster story that sidelines the main character. Hitchcock said it best. “A good movie needs three things: The script, the script, and the script.”
People think "girl boss" because of the marketing. Miller is a very inventive film maker and always has subverted from the promotional material. I will reserve judgement until I see it. If Aliens and T2 was made today it would have had people getting triggered by the girl boss angle.
What's the problem with women? I'm not a fan of the "Girl Boss", but I don't understand why the people in the comments don't seem to want a woman in the lead role of anything 🤔
Their masculinity must be fragile.
Men don't like their power fantasy idols being played by women, and I get it. Sex and the City would not be the same power fantasy for women if it was about a bunch of Finance Bros doing the same things.
She was pure cringe in Mad Max, not hopeful she suddenly isnt
People are annoyed that it isn’t Mad Max. I’m one of them
If he's the mentor, they shouldn't kiss, that's gross.
then no guy would mentor a woman ffs
Sarah Connor got knocked up by her mentor. Oh yeah, spoiler warning.
@@adrianmizen5070 but then her son mentored her mentor in THE FUTURE.....we didn't show gay kissed back in 84 though...
We are TIRED of watching movies about masculine women girl bosses or not.
Don't care, not interested. Wake me when Mad Max shows up. Or if Hemsworth gets his own movie.
Just give me Old Man Mad Max
I'm just tired of female-led films.
I will boycott all new Hollywood films until they can produce one feature with a nearly all-male cast with no woman hectoring or out-doing them.
The point is, this film only got made in the 2020s because it has a female lead.
No.
Ma'am.
Tell me about it. Movies like the first two Alien movies and first two Terminator movies suck with their girls bosses.
@@Criner05 Except they were well-written and the men weren't portrayed as all weak or evil.
Now, nearly all movies are badly written and nearly all males in them are weak and/or evil.
That is the difference.
Susie - A John Rambo Tale. Can't wait for that one.
NO
I might actually check this out. I'm trusting you guys now!! Lol!!! 😂
Why is this even a question?......Has the idea of "girl boss" (super-empowered waif-girl) been so successfully normalised to the point of it now not even being noticed by the far too easily content-mented?....... or is this just another example of over-prioritised supposed 'politeness' in the conformist-seeking 'please like me" era of passive-aggressive/regressive denial through bad attempted gaslighting?.....while working FOR the algorithm.
Maybe we need a new title...."please empathise with our 'victim of evil men (AS a sad life meaning)' character" ...with more 'encouraged' division and anger-baited cliches for the far too easily-led and manipulated.
Hehe thornicopter
I just want another MAD MAX movie.
I don't care about that character. She's boring and generic.
This movie was made for my daughter 😂
Alan is entitled to his wrong opinion
So who is this Max character?
Sounds awfully Patriarchal of these men to bring up some man when we are talking about the Furiousa Universe.
Fury Road sucked. This will too.

I think the real thesis Gore is arguing for is “Furiosa is not a Mary Sue,” which I think is conflated here with Girl Boss (which it sounds as if she definitely it).
