Unfortunately the deeper i got into the avantime the worse its condition appeared. In the end a decision was made that the car was beyond economic repair and its owner took it back to sell parts from it.

Hi I know your channel because you showed how to change the spark plug of a ES9 engine and it was very useful. May I ask how likely(mainly physically) this car can retrofit a TF80SC or even TG81SC for performance improvement?

      Hi there,
I am not familar with these part numbers, i never did any performance modifications on this engine so would not be able to advise.
Googling them i see Asin Warner gearboxes, the later facelift mk1 C5 got such a gearbox it has more gears but ive head they are actually a bit thirstier with it (at least in the C5) not sure about the avantime, there could be a fair bit of work involved both physically and then also in terms of getting the electrical elements to work. I think there is a german chap who has a business that specialises in these

I recall from reading on posts a lot get a manual conversion, which is probably the best thing to improve the performance. I drove a few 406 coupes in manual form and even thought they were the older 190bhp version of this engine a manual really gives them a much more spirited character. Although that might not be ideal for the wafty cruiser driving style that the avantime is made for.

No relation to the above video, but I would like some advice. I recently bought a 2014 Honda Fit. It is automatic with the CVT box. The vehicle is nine years old, but with only 12000 miles on the clock. The transmission oil has never been changed. The Honda dealer says it's not necessary, however, I would like the changed. What are your thoughts? Many thanks!

      Hi there,
Im no expert when it comes to hondas but generally with automatic gearboxes and that includes CVT's i would be more inclined to want to get them serviced myself rather than believe what the dealers say. It might sound a bit conspiratorial but a 9 year old car is now beyond warranty and of little value to the dealers, they are more inclined to sway you towards a newer model.
There is a reason why the likes of independant specialists for various brands would recommend a gearbox oil change. Having said that 12,000 a mere twelve thousand miles is really not a lot even at 9 years old. However i suppose its coming up on the age rather than the miles. There might be mobile specialists where you are who can do a gearbox flush and fill it with the correct oil. Or alternativley find a honda specialist to do it. Just ensure it gets whatever oil the manufactuer recommends.
