Solid video, thanks!
Been waiting on this one
The old BFG Trak Edge was the best tyre BFG ever made, had a set and loved them 👍🏻🇬🇧
Nice looking tire..also like how clean the garage is and nice and bright
Looks like a great option for fleet trucks that work in the backcountry for mining, forestry, or powerline work. They are pricey, they carry a $70 per tire premium over the KM3 in a 37x12.50r20.
Would love to see an overview of the Armstrong Desert Dog MT, similar looking tire to these, but around 40% less per tire.
Great review!! Been waiting on a detailed review and you were first!! Getting mine tomorrow 305/70/18 for 2020 F250
Thanks Todd, & thanks for watchin!!! Hope you enjoy them and let me know how they do for you after a while.
How do you like the tire so far on your 250? did you mount them on the stock rim?
@@lakeview70124 I’ve got about 6k on them now. Size is perfect for stock 4x4 f250 without lift. A little road hum compared to street tire but not annoying. No noticeable change in tread depth to this point. I put them on stock chrome and many compliments on the look by strangers. If I get wear better than 45k then I will spend the extra money and buy again
First! 😀 ... Once I get my KO2s down, I'll want to try them out! 😎🚙👍 Because KO2s are brilliant on gravel tracks. Great in the meadows and acceptable in the forest too, but they can't handle wet clay mud and catch stones 🙈
We helped BFG with real world testing of these tires on our field trucks. These are typically f-250's &350's loaded to max GVW or very close and see a lot of highway and off-road miles every day. Most mud tires last around 15K miles, 20K if we're lucky. I just turned 15K on my first production set of the BFG HD's and they still have well over half tread left. I do feel like they sacrifice some mud performance but will outlast any other mud tire out there.
Any snow and ice experience?
@@AK_Ray Not yet
Thanks for this information. This was an important point for me
@Bandit93gt made it 26k miles, popped one off road in the mud running tire chains. Not sure what happened to the tire since I had to drive on it about 1/4 mile to a spot solid enough to change it. Still had decent tread left.
I’m deciding between these and the ko2. I’m really itching for these HD terrains .
Could you do the Michelin defender 2s soon keep up the good work
I got 'em. I love the way they look. They perform very well. But they are noisy like the K02's. Overall I'm glad I got 'em.
I like it 👍
Hi from Australia can’t wait to find them Downunder 😅
I loved my KO2’s with their minimal amount of road noise for my HD. How would you say the road noise is with these?
I have been running a set now for about 10K
They seem to be doing good. I went to this tire trying to get a little more mileage out of my tires. So far I am happy with them. They are not totally quiet but manageable. I will let you know in about another 20k if how they wear
Are you still happy with them? Looking at putting a set on a 2022 Ram 3500 dually with a service body.
I have a set on a Toyota Tundra 35/11.5. Not the weight you're running but I spend a lot of time on gravel logging roads. Used to have lots of impact punctures with Toyo M55's. Duratracs melted off being too soft. These seem to be the sweet spot so far. Only have 45,000km own them so far but am very impressed. @@AndrewWirtz
How's that update coming?
@@Only9mm over all I still like them. I am very surprised that they do not pick up rocks real bad. They do have some noise but over all I will probably buy again
@@williamcrist1887 thanks for the update. How do they do in wet conditions?
Could you do a review on the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT
So far I can’t complain and I would probably do it again.
I do think they have a little road noise but in all I am satisfied
How will it compare to seven ko3 I am wondering if they have the same level of stability on the road
Hi there, could you please help me know which one of these Nexen tires will provide more comfort for a SUV with 255/45/r20 size?
Nfera Supreme
Nfera Ru1
Nfera Ru5
these are the ones that are available in my country/region, and I wanna pick the most comfortable one among those.
great review Matt. I burned up a set of 295/65/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 20,000 miles and discount tire wanted to replace them. I'm leery buying a tire now without a mileage warranty, but I really want to try these BFG's. I burned up Cooper XLT AT3's in about 40k and I actually got a good pro rated amount from discount tire towards my next set. I really like that Cooper stands behind their tire for 60,000 miles. These were on a 2022 Ram 3500 4x4 towing a 13,000 lb 5th wheel. The truck had about 1000 lbs of steel accessories & 50 gallon aux diesel tank. Current truck is a 2023 F350 4x4 with the 7.3, and it has the factory Michelin LTX AT2 which have been excellent for hauling & highway but I get a little nervous on the ranch. Might just get the K/O 2's for the mileage warranty.
I need aggressive tires for my job sites and weekend dirt road exploration. During the week I tow between 3-8 ton daily. I run cheap mud terrains spring to fall and snow tires in winter.
I am stuck on a choice of these BFG HD, toyo mt, yokohama g003 mt, and radar renegades. I usually run cheap 12 ply for flat risk on sites. These bfg do not have as deep of a tread as the others it seems, but a harder compound for heavy trucks should make up the difference.
If you have time, you could stick with the Coopers or Michelins and just chain up when “on the ranch.” Best of both worlds. Chains are arguably better than mud tires, IF you don’t need wheel spin or higher speed.
@D.M.Designs radar renegade is a low end brand here in New Zealand, but their R7 m/t is a good performing tyre, have a set of them on one of our breakdown utes.
@phild9813 Chains are definitely better than mud tires. I use chains on my skid steer a lot instead of putting OTT tracks on. I need mud tires for working on customer properties. A lot of times, the yards are smaller and I am back on asphalt soon so chains would be too much of a hassle.
@undercoverpighunter The Renegade RT seems as aggressive as the BFG shown here, claims a 40,000 treadwear warranty so it must be built better than cheaper MT tires(you would think) and comes in 12 ply rating. They are cheaper here in the U.S. compared to others.
What tire would you recommend for flat deserts with sharp rocks?
What is your best tire recommendation for 2007 Honda Accord in terms of safety(wet traction) and price and long lasting.
I’d like you to review the Falken Rubitrek AT & Wildpeak RT please
Thanks Chris, I'll add those to the list I've been collecting.
How do these compare against the Toyo CT's? I hear the Toyo Ct's handle very well in wet conditions
RADAR RENEGADE R/T PLUS...HANDS DOWN THE ULTIMATE WINNER...YOU GET PERFORMANCE, LONGEVITY, DURABILITY, AND VALUE...JUST CAN'T BEAT IT!
It will be tough to beat a Nitto Ridge Grappler i have 20,000 on mine on a one ton truck still looks new 👍
I agree. I just hit 65K on my Ridge Grapplers. They are done now but have been a pleasure the entire time. I have Never had a BFG tire last that long.
I think that you should spend a little time explaining to a lot of people that the "rim" is what holds your tire on the wheel and the "wheel" is what you put on your car to get around town or the track. If you put rims on your car, your car will fall straight to the ground because a rim is not a wheel. Glad I found your channel.
Can you review the new goodyear duratrac rt please?
Thanks Jason, I'll look into it.
@@CampusautoCo Thank you. I just bought a set and have been comparing them to the old duratracs and id like to believe they upgraded
@@imjason7784I just looked these up, they look awesome! I love all the extra syping they've added. I really hope they expand the size availability in the next year or so when I'll need tires again.
HD Terrain T/A KT CD HP TQ FT sounds good if I could remember all of that😅😅
Can we see these next to the Yokohama at xd
Are they quiet on highway
Can I borrow against my house for like 30 years in order to afford these?
Can I put this on my tacoma
These tires suuuuuck on icy roads. I live in the eastern sierras and got these on my new truck. I ordered some patagonia XTs for half the price that shits on these in my climate
Falken wild peaks are the gold standard but I'm giving patagonias a shot this winter
I know the BFG KM3 and the prior models of mud terrain I have owned were crap on ice, typically mud tires are never usually very good or just down right scary on ice and stands to reason but my intention for them was to not really see winter roads as per more spring to fall on crappy gravel/dirt roads and in the field on farm pickups. For years now I have used dedicated winter tires on my personal pickup ( I live in northern Alberta ) but had used the older version of the BFG all terrain and they saw a bit of winter and no I was not impressed but they did better than some of the other all terrain type tires I ran in the past. This summer I needed a new set of all terrains on that pickup and rather then go BFG ( the KO2 seems horrible for holding rocks in the treads ) I decided to try a set of Falken at3 wildpeaks for something different to try. I took them off though to put the winter tires on but I am curious how they would do on ice, they feel like a harder rubber compound then the BFG KO2 or the Toyo all terrain and so was surprised you stated they were the gold standard but yes it does have the 3 mountain peak snowflake on them for whatever that is worth !. I was happy with the low road noise on the highway and were not too bad for throwing tons of rocks in the gravel but have very few miles put on them so far. I don't imagine they are very good in mud or I wouldn't expect them to be as the KM3 has a hard enough time of it.
All tires suck on ice unless you have studs or chains.
@@justapeckerwoodthatlivesin9989 There are some studless winter tires that perform surprisingly well on ice, vastly better that a typical mud tire. Having said that, the best solutions are good winter compound tires that also accept studs and that they are new rather then half worn out and aged and still expecting good results from them. The problem with tires chains is that they are not on the tires at all times and all the other issues with tire chains assuming they will even fit on the vehicle as lots of passenger vehicles today don't even have the room to run true tire chains and have to resort to cable chains. Having said that, tire chains used at slow speed and short distance are the ultimate as per staying in control and moving ... then its all the idiots around you that are wanting to play bumper cars with you, that's the danger !. A life time ago I ran oilfield trucks out in the bush in the winter on goat trails to lease sites and it was a must to have drive and steer tire chains on to make that happen in that type of condition and steep hill terrain, not just any chains either but Trygg brand chains with the spikes/knobs on the cross chains that dig into the surface to claw there way along.
Could this be used on an offroad trailer?
No
I can't imagine any load range E tire being good on a lifter Jeep, i.e., a Wrangler.
I really wish you would not have said that BF GOODRICH is made by Michelin, I used to love BF GOODRICH but I hate Michelin tires, I will never buy a set of BFG’s knowing that, if I find out Cooper tires are made by them too that’s really going to irritate me.
Goodyear owns Cooper now.
@@CampusautoCo that's unfortunate
What’s your problem with Michelin?
@@JimmyCasket02 sidewall cracking, and tread cracking by three years of age
I had Cooper STT mts crack the sidewalls, only on the side with the white lettering
Definitely not something I’d drive in the winter…
Nope. Last set of MTs I had during winter, I couldn't even park my truck in a sloped driveway. I'd put it in park and it would slide to the street lol.
@@evictioncarpentry2628 years ago when I had mud tires on my truck it did the same thing in a parking lot, lol
Add additional siping and they will. I only run MTs and just sipe them more myself.
@@dozerboyd8784 Doesn't do shit when it's -30C outside. The rubber is hard as a rock.
That's why we call MTs hockey pucks in Canada.
@@evictioncarpentry2628 when why are all snow tires siped? Anyways good thing these ain't MTs. Not sure why you would run a MT at -30 when mud shouldn't be a issue. Snow tires would probably be a good choice.
Sounds like they are bringing back a better carcass. They lost a lot of credibility with the junk KO2s, especially on HD trucks....countless blow outs with campers usually tearing half the bedside off
Look like a toned down mud grappler tread pattern
Oriented in a straight line. Not really, looked crooked
"built for durability" and they dont even come with a warranty like the Toyo Open Country RT Trails 45k miles. nice try BFG....
Durability and tread wear are two separate things…
@@Defender_Tom 🤣😂🤣😂 whatever you say 👍
Oh no they don't come with a warranty.... Neither do 90% of the tires. Every set a Nittos I've owned have cracks after only 1 year, so it's not like they the gold standard in tires.
@@dozerboyd8784 90% huh? 👍 whatever you say 👍Nittos are the low end Toyos which is why they dont come with a warranty.
Way to go bf goodrich no 22" rim size.....you did miss the boat thats why toyo and nitto outsell you on more custom trucks.
I guess they weren't making a tire for mall crawlers 🤷
@@christophermix6845 trucks are now coming with 22's from the factory. far from being a custom or outrageous size these days.
@@tyler87kelley 22s on a truck that is supposed to work, just seems wrong.
@@tyler87kelleywhich HD trucks come with 22s?
@@precisiondiesel225 anyone who is smart enough to get rid of gay factory wheels i can't tell you how many pipeline dually trucks I have seen on 22" American force or fuel forged wheels. Just saying 22's are a very popular upgrade and I guess nitto and toyo will fill that void.
Worst tires ever.
Too bad it isnt triple peak rated. Been running the ko2's for years, but my new truck is just too heavy for them and they dont last. Just switched to the toyo at3 so far so good.
