I have this and it is so bad I don't go anywhere! Years ago I had a midlife crisis and drank everyday alot! Would that be the cause of my tremors? I quite drinking completely In 1990. So will I ever get any relief from these tremors. I was having small tremors when I started drinking but they just seemed to be a nervous condition which I differently had. I have been on alot of meds for this but never had the dose increased. I am changing Ddrs. Now and I will keep you posted.
I have a no no tremor. It started slowly a month ago and now it’s constant. I’m so frustrated not being able to get into a doctor and it progressing so quickly. I can’t imagine it going to other areas of my body. I’m trying to stay positive and optimistic but my youngest said, “Mommy, why are you saying no all the time?” Thank you do much for the information! It has been so helpful to know that perhaps my forgetfulness and changing words is probably related.
Yes, a movement specialist neurologist has done Botox in the front and back of my neck and it helped greatly. I’m not thrilled about having Botox every 3 months but it really did work. I also have a referral for physical therapy so will do that as well. My hope is that eventually that would work instead of Botox but for now I’m really happy something worked! The Dr. felt that my neck was “off” so my brain was telling my eyes and ears to right themselves causing the tremor. I’m not sure but interesting?! Hang in there and hope you find something to help!
@@svgilkog8181 she thought the tremor was possibly cervical dystonia but didn’t rule other things. I’ve only seen her twice. My thyroid WAS normal which Wes surprising because I have Hashimotos. I haven’t been on meds just supplements. Do you have thyroid issues as well? I didn’t know there was a connection to essential tremors.
@@caitesmith7the Botox every 3 months by neurologist has kept the tremor mostly at bay. Also, I’m doing a lot of neck stretches. The stretching brings on the nonos so I know I’m stretching the right area but ends after I’m not doing that stretch. I would like to do more physical therapy and see if I can JUST do that eventually. Hoping. Hang in there!
Thank you so much for caring and doing these lectures. I was recently diagnosed with essential tremors and am doing everything I can to learn about them.
As a person who's been dealing with ET for years, this video really helped especially coming from a true medical professional since I am in the medical field. I will watch this again to take notes and I hope to speak with you about my story. Thank You So Much. :)
Thank you for your help and wealth of information. I have back pain for which I was being treated by a pain management doctor and he is the one who initially diagnosed the essential tremor but didn’t tell me his thoughts. Instead he forwarded me to a Neurologist. I am now being treated but not pleased because the meds make me tired since they’re using BP meds. Anyhow, I truly appreciate all the information I get from you regarding ET.
I started getting e.t. at 65 years old and it spread to my legs get shaky walking at times now ten years later i get internal tremors esp at night and a creeping feeling over my body, its very stressful at times when trying to sleep, these videos really do help.
This is a lightbulb moment for me in a way because my handwriting has become gigantic! It was always beautifully formed but now I write very big and untidy
I find you very help full I'm so frustrating that my Dr and care plan mangers are refusing to understand what I deal with this stigma and gaselightimg me that I'm delousinal mentally unstable I keep giving them my dignosses and medical treatment and care plan but Thay don't even care what I'm going through I just can't be normal this is a long term life recovery and rehabilitation it's not like taking off a bandaid go to councling witch I'm just truly want to hide in my apartment and not go anywhere for I'm supposed to be like everyone else
What about dopamine analogs like high tyramines effecting and progressing the disease? With alcohol use the higher gaba levels calm the excitatory response but then a rebound of high excitatory neurotransmitters overwhelm the receptors after gaba levels drops below baseline. Have ET patients been checked for low/lower estrogen levels and being a contributing factor since estrogen is neural protective? We see people with autism and ADHD that have a higher occurrence of ET. The other common denominators are lower monoamine oxidase with higher tyramine levels. It looks like low MOA can also be a major contributing factor. The last factor that is curious is ETs relationship to anxiety. Anxiety is highly correlated with mood disorders. With mood disorders we see negative emotion amplified in magnitude and duration with a repetitious effect causing the negative emotion to exist and higher degrees for longer periods of time. This effect is treatable with mood stabilizers. So I wonder if the same mechanism that causes mood dysregulation and anxiety is similar or the same in Essential tremor? I know that when I eat a high tyramine diet and especially after eating MSG both my tremors and anxiety go through the roof. My clearance of tyramines is terrible and the only thing that helps my symptoms is prednisone which fundamentally blocks trace amines like tyramine from interacting with the receptor. Interestingly, my anxiety is better controlled when taking prednisone. Its well known that prednisone has some nasty long term side effects so it would be interesting to know if there are any analogues of prednisone that carry none of the long term side effects and all of the benefits, much like peptides can do when their sequences are isolated from long chain hormone amino sequences.
This is a good educaion for tremor . I have problem that how to dianostic my tremor is essential tremor or pakistan tremor. My doctors watched my moving style . and they think my tremor is EST. But no medicice help to me. I will continue to finde the problem.
FYI: When I first noticed tremor in my dominate hand a (very elderly!) neurologist in my medical healthcare plan simply asked me to write my name. He observed the way my hand moved as I was intentionally trying to form legible letters (both print and cursive). He immediately said, “you have writers cramp!” No further testing. He offered to inject Botox in specific nerves in my hand/ and arm and said it may stop the tremor. This treatment would last approximately 3 months if it worked. I was not at all satisfied with his cursive exam, ‘diagnosis’, and his lack of explanation, so I left, pronto! Eventually the tremor slowly progressed to my other hand. I was worrIed about Parkinson’s. I talked to my PCP/ and told her my dad developed hand tremors in his elder years. Long story short, I went to a new neurologist, and had more extensive testing. Diagnosis: Essential Tremor/ ET. However, no mention of ET/ Plus. I am now learning from Dr. Karen Sullivan’s - I Care For Your Brain/ icfyb educational lectures on RUclips about *ET Plus*. I feel I am now experiencing some degree of the Plus non- motor symptoms as the ET has progressed.. education is power. Seriously, I am so very grateful to Dr. Sullivan, and truly humbled by others who share their life-altering stories and difficult brain health challenges on this channel.
I started out with epilepsy in my early 20's. I had a variety of seizures included grand mal. I tended to have long hangovers with after most seizures. Meds stopped the grand mals but not the others. A friend suggested I take progesterone and it worked. No more seizures . About 2 years ago I started to suffer with post concussion syndrome. I feel I am just now pulling out of it to some degree. I was diagnosed with ET back in 1992. I am hoping to get the focused ultrasound. Do you think I am to far gone for that
I HAVE ESSENTIAL TREMOR AND WAS DIANOSED AT THE AGE OF 30. I AM A MEMBER OF IETF I HAVE LOOKED INTO DBS AND FOUND THERE IS TOO MANY SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS. I AM LOOKING INTO ULTRASOUND TREATMENT
I was diagnosed years ago with essential tremors. But recently have noticed when I'm sitting, laying down a very obvious tremors in my legs. Like a strong vibrating and even have felt in my torso. Why is this happening?
I know this is very late but you might want to talk to a physio or movement specialist becuase my hand tremors calmed down after I was taught how to exercise the muscles in my sholders, might be the same with your legs
This needs more views.

You can find a board certified neuropsychologist close to you by entering your zip code here: abpp.org/Directory

Go to a doctor or call a lawyer And get ready for a long process
