Oh Dusters are so cool. Being from Sweden I often saw them in used car ads in the 90:s and when I went to Mexico city they were pretty common, standing here and there in the streets. Today it is on my list of most wanted american compact cars besides getting a 64 Skylark again.

As a mopar Guy, I have to tell a Guy 2 things:
    1. Yes, of course bring the Dart back!!
    2. You went to do mopar front end work and said let me snip this off right quick... the duster said, "Hold my cold snack." Mopar doesn't like to make it easy.

When using fiberglass on a vehicle, put the glass on wax paper. Helps spread and smooth out the ridges. Fiberglas will dry smooth and saves a lot of sanding

I gotta say, for starters, the MagnaFlows and downward tips was the right choice! When you get on it, that 318 sounds angrier than my ex-wife... and I ain't kiddin' ya! My very first ride was that 76 Power Wagon step-side with the bored 318 and blown out glass packs. That was a tough sound to bear when trying to not be seen or heard... if ya know what I mean. But 16 years old, with a heavy foot, in the 80s and that noise, holy hand-grenades it turned heads!! I'm sure the Duster will sound even better when those mufflers break in.
The Chads really stepped up in the rebuild, WAY TO GO GUYS! I'm still straining my brain muscle over the front end. I've owned Mopar a few times in my life, and they absolutely do have quirks. If the electricals are good, then it's odd stuff like those front wheels. But the paint in the trunk was a nice touch, and I gotta mention it... but Crager's SS donut holders sure round it out after the turnout of paint, and graphics, and floor boards, and grill, and interior, and gauges, and drive tube, and VGG engine bits covers... it's not even the same car, is it?
    Charles is gonna love it!
Thanks for another great episode, everybody!

Congratulations to the new owner and Happy New Year. I hope everyone seeing this has a awesome year.
Side note: even though you have a nice shop it looks like you could use a conex shipping container for storing extra parts, oil etc. They are pretty reasonably priced. If you get 2 you could build a roof between them for some outdoor storage as well. Good place to store the tractor or the lumbergini. Think about all the extra room you would have in the shop

My first car was a 1976 Dodge Dart Sport my father bought for $400.00 and gave it to me for my 15th B-day in 1984. The exterior was a baby blue color and rough, dings and dents and a little rust. Under the hood was the slant super 6 attached to a 3 speed manual with 95k miles on it and burned about as much oil as gas. I spent the next year learning and doing body work getting it ready for paint. My older cousin and I painted it white inside and out with the blue and red "Spirit of 76" edition stripes down each side, it looked amazing and very bicentennial. My mother helped recover the seats with a blue and white stitched vinal material and that looked pretty sharp too. I bought some American Racing Outlaw II rims, put High Jacker air shocks in the rear incase I had a full car of friends (I'd have to air them up to keep the rear tires from rubbing lol). My Grandfather who was a mechanic all his life rebuilt the super 6, he told me at the time it should be up from about 140hp to about 240 hp with the work he did with cam, boring, port/polishing and even a custom made 4 barrel intake he made himself, it ran great for the 5 years I had it. I never put it on a dyno, but I can say in a street quarter mile drag race with a Camaro Z28 350 ci automatic a friend of mine had I could beat him by a clean car length and was pretty much a dead heat with my cousins stock 1984 5 speed GT Mustang.
I sold the car 5 years after my 16th birthday and wish now I never did. Looking back now my family and myself all had a part into making that car and it's hard to put into words what that meant to me, I just didn't truly realize it when I sold it unfortunately.

Try spraying your boot/trunk interior with Pastidip (or similar). It's thick enough to bridge most of your pinholes and put a 'rubber skin' of the whole thing.

Not to be picky, but it is Plastidip (with the "l"). Not a bad idea. I've used that stuff on hammer handles and on pliers. It forms a really solid surface and seems to hold up very well.

my father [O"H] also bought a 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger, 2 door, 225 c.i. slant I-6, p/s, p/b, a/c over size radiator which certainly had electronic ignition, front disc brakes [very surprised to see front drum brakes on this Duster]. that car was reliable, dependable, easy to drive, steer, park including parallel parking; one of their best vehicle purchases; drove it for my diver's test in 1975. A family friend then bought a Plymouth Valiant in 1975 based upon the quality, reliability, dependability, etc; they decided upon the 318 V-8, 4 door.
My preference for body styling is the Duster or Sport as this vehicle.
These compact Dart, Valiant, introduced for 1960 model, though 1976 were among their best vehicles. Many people have since converted them into various performance, racing vehicles, especially in the later years as with other vehicles from those years; even if they were not performance versions then.
Certainly the steering can be improved with Rack & Pinion as with all vehicles, over worm gear steering, along with updated, improved suspension.
      Sincerely

Sure is a blessing to have a sturdy friend like Chad not the other Chad when you need one.
I know you're just as grateful for it as I would be.
Speaking for all the fellers like myself who don't; keep looking out for each other and doing cool stuff boys. Friendship makes everything better.
    Cheers.

Hey, buddy-- you know what you need? A thing that attaches to floor jacks so you can work on dirt more securely. You've got a computer torch table thing. You could probably make one easily enough.

A Guy just has to say that Derek is absolutely awesome, funny, and witty. I so wanted to win the Duster. My first car I bought back in 1977 was a '65 Dodge Coronet for $50 with 112,324 miles with a 225 slant six and a 903 torqueflite trans. Top speed 127 MPH. lol. Rebuilt it from the tires up including body work and replacing the entire nose with a donor car I bought for $100 as a young teenager. I still remember every bolt and nut on the car. Had to let it go after owning it for 15 years as we moved and we were broke. Had a lot of fun with that car. If I could just find another it would be a great end to my senior years.

Man Derek you got to get you some rail road ties to cut into 2 foot blocks to use for out in rusty acres keeps stuff up off the dirt if the tires go down and you can stack three pieces into a triangle and set a car on them if you need to jack it up and get under and they never rot so you can just leave em handy on a skid or in the bed of one of the trucks out there

Truck paint from the 70 was called zolatone if you buy in a qt can and the inside lid is rusty return it because it to old and won't lay down right it had a 6-month shelf life .

Y'know, it's fine that Derek gets off on the Duster. I don't -- but I would absolutely LIVE in that 1925 Studebaker truck. I would mortgage my left arm for it, and its restoration. To each his own. The sincerity is what matters.

    Hi Derek
Happy new year to you and the Family.
Absolutely love how this Duster turned out. What a cool little car.
Question: Have you tried Fibreglassing broken floors?
Did my brother's car like that once.
His old Honda Accord had the old Soggy Foot Syndrome.
Rust treated as you did, then glassed it. Very solid and if you want it to set quicker faster or slower you can just tweak the hardener ratio. 👍
Greetings from the British Isles 😁👍

I always had excellent luck with fiberglass. just cut your sheets to fit, mix the epoxy into the fabric and press it in, do a couple two or three sheets like that and let it cure. hard as steel. spray paint it and good forever. did that for a massive rusted floor board on the drivers side I could put both legs through. next morning it was hard as a rock, painted the bottom with spray can undercarriage coating and it was absolutely excellent.

The right front was definitely plowed into at one point. You can tell by the way it is! Next time you fill holes put duct tape on the outside, and use the small 4 Oz. Bucket of Flexseal in the trunk/floors/sheet metal and then paint as needed. I repaired my oil drain pan with that stuff 5 1/2 yrs ago, and it’s still water tight. Amazing stuff. I miss Billy Maze!

With that aluminum foil tape you have to hit it with heat or FIRE and it melts the tar backing. Typically used to patch semi trailers and box trucks. Much love from NKY

Some of the best gifts I received for the holidays was the sparkilator and multiple flannels from Vice Grip Garage! Keep up the great work Derek! You and your family are fun to watch. As a retired technician with many years of alignment experience I can tell you that you really need a full four wheel alignment by a qualified alignment shop. You have drastically changed the factory caster specs. I heard you say that you were going to take it to a shop for alignment. I hope they have a qualified technician.
