One time in ice cap zone I found a glitch where I got stuck in the middle of the part were you use that giant ice block to break walls and I got stuck in between the two walls
In that zone, try looking down till the screen pans, then immediately jump.
Static objects won't affect you until the camera makes a full pan of the height of the zone.
IT SHOULD WORK NOW

I loved doing the debug mode glitches like chasing knuckles when he takes your emeralds and being hyper sonic forever
There is also a Knuckles glitch in the Mushroom hill zone. When Knuckles uses a spring board and gets shot up thru certain floors , he gets tangled in a vine. There is a place that gets Knuckles tangled in two vines. One originating from the top and the other below. You can still jump but your movement is inhibited until you do a spin dash. Try jumping and gliding instead. The reduced gravity on Knuckles will draw him to the middle between the two vines and he'll never touch the ground. You can also glide back and forth using the vines which will increase his speed, like a rubber band effect.

The Double Mecha Sonic Glitch also works with the first encounter. It does, trust me. I tried it, and it worked.

Usually you only see these after you've played the game too much.. Some examples from other games include:
Falling off the stage in green forest (SA2) in vs mode, landing on a tree down below, hearing the character drown, but the screen doesn't go black, it just transfers you back to the last star post you touched and you are able to have an attack without the necessary rings
SSBM, shooting the super scope at JUST the right angle at Corneria Great Fox, will cause it to get stuck in place right at the tip of the top wing (if you touch it, it still causes damage)
In Sonic 3, or 2, if there is a spike close to an enemy and you jump and land in just the right spot, the game will glitch and you will be able to walk 'outside' the stage itself, however in some cases you end up falling to the bottom and dying

I actually discovered a glitch on my own while playing a mobile emulated version of s3&k. In debug mode, in any level from the s&k half of the game, if you place enough super monitors and break them all at once the game will not freeze but you will lose control of sonic, then press pause and you will be sent back to the title screen but got sonic and knuckles alone. The only way to get sonic 3 and knuckles back is to hard restart the game.

A Cool Glitch: If You Jump And Use Debug Mode At The Same Time, Clicking Left Or Right Allows you To Use animations not intended for the game

You actually left out a lot of the more amusing glitches. In Angel Island Act 2, when you're playing Sonic, Tails, or both, after defeating Robotnik, Knuckles will appear to push a button. Normally, this'll send you to the next stage, but if you jump at just the right moment, you can escape this cutscene and land on the platform to the left. Next, use either the thunder shield or Tails to land on top of the machine that held the woodland creatures. From there, you can jump over the invisible wall between you and Knuckles. Knuckles won't react to you or anything, but it's pretty amusing standing right next to him as he's too busy laughing to notice his trick didn't work. To end the glitch, jump back over the invisible wall and jump to where the bridge used to be, and the game will take you to the next level, as normal.
There are also ways to make Sonic red and Knuckles blue. For Knuckles, activate debug mode and complete the game with all of the emeralds. When you see Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles appear on screen after the credits, press B and C to place an item box. Move up and press B to land on the item box. The Knuckles you control will be blue. If you break the item box, your Knuckles will become Hyper Knuckles, and Sonic will become red. After a few seconds, or after pressing start, the game will leave this screen.
At least you cant find glitches in Sonic 3 & Knuckles so often as you can in Sonic Boom and Sonic 06
Sonic falling is static, not animated.
And there's no "Thunder Shield" in the game. The game's files call it the Lightning Shield. I didn't exist in the mid 90s.

this is easily my favorite sonic to use Debug mode on since you could break the game in so many ways.

I actually discovered a glitch in sonic 3 and knuckles. all you have to do is go to the level select screen and go to sky sancuary act 2. be sonic or sonic and tails. sometimes you will hear a noise telling you no. sometimes the game will send you there. once you complete the super mecha sonic phase and see the credits, you will turn into a blue knuckles. Bonus: when you go to glide and you are sonic you will just slide across the screen XD

I have a glitch: as Sonic and tails, have tails die. Beat the miniboss, but keep jumping so tails does not land. When the score appears, tails will stay flying in the air. When act 2 starts, tails will fall down and will not follow sonic

I don't mean to be rude, but I've got a few glitches I found on my own.
#1: When you complete the second act of a level and destroy the animal capsule, right before your character poses, stand right next to the little yellow button on the capsule. NOT on top of it, next to it. Instead of posing, your character will commence their running animation.
#2: This is pretty specific, but get to flying battery zone act 2. After you defeat that one boss (Where Robotnik uses a laser blaster)go to the part where the ground slowly rises up. (Right before the next boss.) Make it up to the top as fast as possible, and once you get to the top, if you made it fast enough, the sky will be partially black, but the blue will rise up slowly. (Its easier if you use hyper Knuckles, since he's fast, and you can climb the wall on the last part as opposed to waiting for the ground to rise up.)
#3: Go to the boss at Marble Garden Zone act 2, (the one with the drill) Play with a save that you have Hyper Sonic on. Make sure to be Hyper Sonic when you reach the boss. Once at the boss, hit it as many times as you can. As soon as he reaches the ground, the graphics will get all messed up, and you die. (I think the reason this happens is because you hit Robotnik so many times that you kill him before he can drill the ground. So that's why you should use Hyper Sonic, since he's got a higher jump, and he's also got that double jump, which can help with getting extra hits. Or maybe the game just doesn't like that you're fighting the boss as Hyper Sonic, but I think it's more likely the former than the ladder.) Hope these glitches work out for you!

I you use Hyper Sonic's double jump and pause the screen as soon as you do it, part of Sonic's sprite will be messed up.

I remember encountering a glitch that made Sonic show up at the Knuckles' path miniboss on the first act of the game. There was no Tails, i was just using Super Sonic and at one point i flew over the sky and ended up in close to the boss place of somewhere Sonic shouldn't be at.
The boss didn't show up, by the way. I was trapped there because the boss wouldn't appear and there was no way of leaving without being able to climb.

Should've included debug glitches. In sky sanctuary become a hypersonic monitor and go to the top of the stage come back down really fast and then go back up and sonic will be stuck under the stage.. Then exit debug mode and you will die. When you come back sonic will be a hypersonic monitor.. Weird but cool glitch I randomly discovered while messing around with debug mode
