Quick tip for those using pro controllers, if you set one of your shoulder or trigger buttons to jump and flick it into pressing X+A, you can perform an IDJ Nair way easier!
Lol aye man be my tutor.
Are pro controllers easier to do with then the gamecube pro controllers? It seems there is a little bit of a delay that is always there when trying to get the 2nd jump. You can't buffer with the bumper buttons on a gamecube pro controller. I always have an easier time, doing IDJs with tap jump on. It's the only input allowing me to buffer IDJs and not have wasted inputs. But It's a little bit uncomfortable to try and remember to, tap up on the stick, then press Y+A, then go back to the stick to drift as I'm pressing A again while fast falling.
Maybe regular pro controllers have smaller bumper buttons so it's easier to get your finger off them quick enough so you can input another button.
Basically my problem is that, when it comes to the bumper buttons. You can get an idj neutral air way faster with Y(jump) - bumper button L(jump) - A(neutral air). But it doesn't work like that the other way around. bumper L(jump) - Y(jump) - A(neutral air). The Y press gets eaten by the bumper press. It's just the faster way is very unnatural, everyone always says to use the bumpers to jump but they don't even seem to work properly with the regular y and x buttons.
Ok, instead of using bumper L jump, I did ZL. Definitely works better, thank you. My idj neutral air is, Y + ZL + A. The L/R buttons are a lot stiffer then the ZL/ZR buttons.
Thank you so much dude, us pro controller players don’t get enough love
Cool now I can finally do one loop to up smash. That’s all I need
Thanks for the upload Trixx, I've been studying all of the Sora tech that I can find, and this is definitely useful.
Ive been thinking making sora my name, u have any other videos to get to understand better the character
You have no idea how much the controller cam helps
I pretty much gave up on trying to do this loop. Respect to anyone who pulls this off
Yes this is so FUCKING hard
This combo is so difficult I just can’t anymore
Finally someone goes in depth
this is soooo helpful thanks!
When you slowed down the frames to show the inputs, it looked way to hype watching Sora fight like that in slow-mo XD
Damn this is hard af to get multiple in a row. Managed to get to first idj nair 2 ff down, but getting into a 2nd or 3rd is tough. Thx for the video tho, it helped me learn regular idj's which will not only be helpful here but some of my other characters as well.
This video was super helpful! Had to practice idj before the video which for me the easiest way with gbc was r trigger set to jump then x+r -> r+a which helped keep my short hop consistent. Probably not optimal but it's helping me learn the Nair2 ff.
I love how the last to characters have broken combo moves.
how do i fast fall after intial nair 1?? it doesnt fast fall consistently when flicking down on the analog stick and i have to do it like twice to fast fall
Dissss was firaga 🔥🔥🔥
looks like you are pressing A then down on the joystick right after is that better then pressing A and down at the same time?
It’s so hard to get that drift between the nairs 😭
@Meta of Smash thank so much , i am Sad that i missed the premiere :(, but i am here now!
I have my right bumper and X set to jump, would R, X+A do it? (Essentially trying to input the nair with the buffered DJ) or would it be more consistent if everything was inputted sequentially like in the video? (A imputed after the 2 jump inputs)?
For IDJ, are you literally pressing Y twice? Or using a secondary jump button? What if you aren’t landing from another move and can’t buffer? Do you use different inputs?
Always use y twice. Always land from another move unless doing it out of shield. Which isn’t recommended
@@MetaOfSmash Thank you. Great content as usual.
@@MetaOfSmash doing it out of shield works. And so does IDJ fair as a hard punish.
Man this is incredibly hard for me lol
How do you setup the gamecube controller cam in OBS?
Zackray just won a major using primarily this move lol
Which one?
@@sonicloud7774 Kagabiri 5
@@fupalover Thank you. Zackray is taking Sora seriously now. Nice to see it. I hope his Sora's future is bright.
not really though. He used all of Sora's kit.
nice guide! does this also work with the pro controller?
when i do the jump right and attack, i feel like Sora doesn't get to the ground fast enough to do the idj and continue the loop
Thanks
You said that you were going to break it down to steps but still just can't can someone help
Edit: am very frustrated probably doesn't help im using joy cons with joy con drift
There is no joy they just feel like a con
Edit 2 : i don't even know if I'm doing the start right how would I even know
Great video, next time can you also show button maps for the normal pro controller? I personally dislike using gamecube controllers, and the layout confuses me a lot.
Sadly that’s not how it works
@@MetaOfSmash how exactly?
@@stevez2158 it doesn’t work
There’s no right or wrong way to IDJ. I play with the PS4 controller and use tap jump to do Sora Tech. Just be mindful that timing is key to certain weight classes but you’ll do just fine
I find it sad that nair one into nair two is not true on the combo counter- meaning frame one escape options work or this combo counter has reverted back to smash 4
The combo counter is poorly designed and often useless for determining the strength of a combo.
Considering only like 5 characters has 1 frame escape options its not bad
So is the double jump necessary before every nair2
Yes
I still don't understand..
im pretty sure they actually dont need IDJs if you hit the noopbox but im not sure
What's the difference from doing IDJ noops and foops from nair or fair loops. Like It's so much easier to do nair and fair loops so why do IDJ loops?
Am I the only person having trouble doing trigger IDJs? I have jump on both my ZL and ZR buttons, but whenever I try to IDJ with them, it doesn't happen. Is my timing off?
I don't understand how but every time I tried it , wolf always go behind me or I just can't hit wolf
Very new too smash and idk if I should used the macro or train the old fashioned way?
It depends on how much online you play. I find that the macro is much more consistent when battling lag
@@MetaOfSmash thanks definitely online haven’t played offline with anyone
is there really no way to escape this? 💀💀💀
If only when I buffered double jump it would actually do TWO JUMPS AND NOT ONE BO MATTER IF I PRESS THE BUTTON TWICE OR TEN OCTILLION TIMES
So jump before he lands and somehow he'll defy expectations. Got it 😂
Is there a way to do this with joycons? Probably not right
Trippin lol
Mashing double jump op
NO ONE can input an IDJ with only 1 jump button. And even if they could, they could not be consistent.
For an IDJ to work, one needs to input 2 jumps in 4 frames with an attack while making sure there is at least 1 frame in between the two jump inputs. The ONLY feasible way to do this consistently is with 2 jump buttons, preferably a shoulder button as the second jump button.
I only use one shoulder button when doing IDJ, the buffet system really works in your favor here because you can input during the landing lag of nair for the first jump, which means getting a second one within the jumpsquat animation is way easier
Oh boy
Commenting for the algorithm
Thanks neki
“Sora IDJ combos are difficult”
Peach:
Why do you need to IDJ in between the nairs? Nair loops can be done without DJ too
Don’t think it’s considered true when you do that though. Maybe with big characters like dk
@@jontylerlud what does IDJ do to make this true? Fewer start up frames on the Nair or something?
how do u fast fall ?
I tried doing something similar to this, but this makes my combo look like dog shit.
I’m still learning about idjs. Why does it work here where a short hop wouldn’t?
Because it’s easier for them to get out that way it keeps them at a lower level. And IDJ helps with getting those ending confirms like smash attacks and up B
@@Reggicide gotcha, I guess in my head I assumed idjs were mostly used to get to places above full hop range quickly but they seem to have more used than that. Very new so thank you for commenting!
@@fgcbird no problem!
how do you do this on the pro controller i cant get the IDJ to work
Just double tap fast on x to jump but with the second one tap you push A button
Does it work also with the joy cons?
Why are you playing with JoyCons???
Y’all out here getting arthritis for this when it’s probably gunna get patched
Sakurai probably intended for this to happen so I doubt it's gonna be patched
Besides this isn't an infinite combo
@@Greenietheotaku as far as if it was intended, probably not. But you do have a good point because pikachu and link loops didn’t get patched out either
What’s IDJ? Lol
Instant double jump
Any pro controller tips? I set the triggers to jump but I can't do it 🤦🏾♂️
I’m with you bro. I’m trying to figure this out
….huh? =(
no hands/10
Nair loops aren't true but ok
All I see is sora sora sora sora players it's fucking annoying, still get busted by my falco tho.
