I didn't know that was rare, I've lived in the south most of my life so just seeing snow is rare.

@@juljasmaharchive it’s rare but it happens every year in Massachusetts and probably also New York, Illinois, and some other places that are no stranger to winter storms. Just depends where you live and how often you find yourself outdoors in one of these storms. Last year Massachusetts had a Severe Thunderstorm Warning associated with thundersnow, thundersleet, and thunderice at the same time. A severe one, now that’s really rare.

Stand back and realize how awe inspiring and fantastical the simplicity of this moving moment is. It may be simple thunder to many people, but to him, this experience was better than the lottery. There are truly more important things out there than money and toys and I hope more people see this and search for those experiences.

I’ve seen thundersnow exactly once in my life when I was a young child and it blew my mind that a thunderstorm was possible inside a blizzard. Flash forward fifteen years and I am a meteorologist now! Never forgot that feeling of amazement.
If I ever see thunder snow, I promise to get this excited. I love watching people's joy.
I hope I can find literally anything in life to make me this happy

I wish I loved my job 1/10th as much as Jim loves his.
I was a senior in high school in Mass in 1989. We had a complete white-out blizzard roll in, during the school day. I was crossing the main street through campus, holding my three page paper that was due at my next class, standing by my best friend.
The wind kicked up, the paper went flying, he looked at me and started laughing his ass off, and then, in this total white out, lighting started. It was so white, then super nuclear bright, then the concussions, and then more. It was fucking epic.
Crap! I remember that! Snow started falling in the afternoon. I was like a year older than you. It got darker and traffic stopped dead. The strike hit, the wind picked up, and I was drunk. I stopped in the middle of the road and mused "is this what hell is like?" Then my drinking buds hustled me off.
Well that sucks but why didn't you have your paper in your bag if it wad snowing out?!

Just met him and Jen in at Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney and was showing my firemen this video because just the mention of thunder snow and his eyes lit up. Love the passion that he has for the job. Great people doing a great job!

Scientists have it tough. A massive tornado hits and they are simultaneously heartbroken at the tragedy, but also ridiculously excited at the opportunity to maybe learn something new that may help. It's gotta be a weird mix of feelings, and trying to contain scientific/professional excitement in the face of emotional horror for the local people.
As a Canadian I wish we had the same type of programming as you guys in the states do on the weather channel

I remember freaking out just like that, in a big snow storm when I thought it was thunder but it was actually just a transformer exploding
Transformers blowing sound quite a bit like thunder. One second, everything's calm, then BLAMMM!!! There goes the Transformer, & there goes the Electricity! We had a Derecho go through my State (Virginia), back on June 29, 2012. It was easily the worst storm I'd ever seen in my life! It knocked out a boatload of Transformers in my area alone, knocked down power lines, trees, and everything else that it could. It took some people days to get their power back on. Some were without power for a week or so. Thankfully, we came through the storm!

I live in Ontario Canada and this is not a rare occurrence at all. I hear thundersnow at least once or twice a winter during a snowstorm and I never freak out like this dude!!
+Hezekiah Crusader Yea I hear it once or twice a year where I live in the US, but for most of the world it's not a common event. I think the average recorded occurrence in the entire US is something like 6-7 times a year.

I love the enthusiasm of this guy.. I envy him because in southern Italy where I live snow and thundersnow is very rare and events like this never happen.. How I long to be in his same situation.. he is crazy and insane like me.. LOL.. I'm glad when I see snow through a glass of a window staying at home but I prefer the situations when snowflakes hits my body and my face (of course having all the protections), moreover I love its "smell" or when I feel my feet sinking in it.. Well, you may say that I am childish.. so perhaps you're right but I prefer to be sometimes childish AND happy and glad rather than being too much serious and unhappy and sad.. There are people like this guy that become happy with nothing and they are happier than many others that seek their "pseudo-happiness" in drugs, alcohool, nicotine, gambling, free sex, and other addictions..

I live in snow storms 4 months a year, -30 is the basic temperature we have here. I hate it. I don't get how you guys can like snow I'd do anything to skip winter.
Judy Leboeuf As for me, I love snow because I see it few times and so for me it’s a rare phenomenon.. The climate of where I live is utterly different compared to yours.. I live in southern Italy in a small town 60 km north-west from Naples (more or less the same latitude of Plymouth where this video was made) and 15 km far from sea, in the middle of the Mediterranean, protected by cold air by Alps and Appennini (in the west part) with the Sahara desert too much near.. So if you want to escape from winter come to southern Italy :D
I can only tell you that today (17/02/2015) temperature reached more than 16 °C at shadow and the sky was clear and sunny and on November 30th 2014 temperature even reached 25 °C.. the lowest temperature I experimented was -7 °C on December 30th 2014 and it was an exceptional events.. It snowed even in Sicily up to the coast.. The highest amount of snow that I saw was 30-40 cm 3 years ago although I saw thundersnow three-four times..
So it’s not only the snow that makes me happy but also the rare experience itself also because I love observing natural phenomena. So, I also love snow for the same reason that why many people love watching shooting stars or eclipses..
Anyway, I can comprehend that you don’t love snow because you got used to it. I know that at -30 °C snow becomes ice and with strong wind it’s very hard to go outside even in sunny days. Furthermore, with such temperatures, I also know that many times snowflakes are very little and lifted up by wind, instead the few times that it snows where I live the snowflakes are very huge with little wind and so they have a hypnotic-like effect on me making me become like a child.. :D
Snow is rare here in Texas, but we've gotten enough to make the roads unsafe twice in the past 5 years.

Elio Fierravanti Jim Cantore is a weather god among men. IDK how he does it, but he always finds the center of every major weather event. I'd say it's because he's the top guy but even when the predictions show a Hurricane is going to hit 4-5 towns over, there he is sitting all by himself right where the eye hits.
I live on the Texas Gulf coastline. When it's hurricane season and one looks to be heading our way, we just pay attention to where he's at. If he's in town, we get the @#$% out.
BTW Zeldagigafan is somewhat misleading you a tiny bit. Even Texans forget how big Texas truly is. It snows in North Texas every year. Especially in the panhandle, after all it is right next to Colorado. Now down south, were I live, it snows once or twice every decade or so. In 35 years I've seen the snow actually stay on the ground all day once. We gathered up the snow from several yards to make a 2 foot snowman. lol
Nobody goes out driving on days like that. Nobody is prepared for it. Public Works will dump sand on bridges but that's about all they can do. People in the North that deal with snow 3-4 months out of the year laugh at us. We in turn laugh at them when they prepare for hurricanes. I specifically remember seeing guys, several of them, using cardboard to cover up their windows. lol... A hurricane can propel objects THRU a sheet of plywood.
