I had a chance to meet him when Hurricane Ivan was on it's way to Pensacola Florida. I was with some friends in Gulf Breeze Florida when The Weather Channel was setting up to report on the beach. Very nice guy.

I grew up in Michigan, knowing what it meant when the sky turned a really sickly yellow/green and the air had a surreal quality to it. I remember many times, as a child, spent in the basement without power wondering when it would be safe to go upstairs. This video did a great job of describing what was happening, what you needed to do, and how many people have survived and coped. Wish we could have seen it back then. Thank goodness for people like the Red Cross and local churches who step up to have the backs of their neighbors. You're all in our thoughts and prayer
Jim Cantore is entertaining as all get-out. This was fantastic. My only complaint is that that is an air-raid siren, not a tornado siren. Maybe they're different in different areas, but I am used to hearing a steady siren.

Dorian was bad, but tornadoes are much worse than hurricanes in many ways, even if the wind speed is said to be the same. Often it's hard if not impossible to estimate max tornado wind speed as they're very localized, so the quoted wind speeds are underestimations. Also, winds in tornadoes are extremely erratic and have a vertical component to them (i.e. houses literally pulled up from the ground by the pressure differential) and are thus much more destructive than hurricane straight-line winds with the same speed.
Powerlines fall, boards penetrate walls, houses get eaten and spat out miles away... but legend has it, that Jim Cantore is still standing while giving us commentary on the EF-5 that just passed through his body.

I grew up in Michigan, knowing what it meant when the sky turned a really sickly yellow/green and the air had a surreal quality to it. I remember many times, as a child, spent in the basement without power wondering when it would be safe to go upstairs.
This video did a great job of describing what was happening, what you needed to do, and how many people have survived and coped. Wish we could have seen it back then. Thank goodness for people like the Red Cross and local churches who step up to have the backs of their neighbors.

Jim Cantore is entertaining as all get-out. This was fantastic. My only complaint is that that is an air-raid siren, not a tornado siren. Maybe they're different in different areas, but I am used to hearing a steady siren.

I thought this was going to be a newscaster out in the field when a freak tornado shows up out of nowhere. This turned out to be a lot more fun.
I loved it how the camera was knocked down and the Falling debris. Very good simulation. And the flag was still there too. “America the beautiful”.

So this is the 1st time I watched this video and once again Jim Cantore my man does not disappoint. He really does love his job and the community. As for the CGI guy, He is SO FIRED!! He broke the Weather Channel. Im moving to OKC in Sept and even though Im a weather geek and a lilapsofile, Im getting more nervous as each day passes thinking about the 2024 tornado season. Wish us luck and stay safe.

kamigawa Recon Mission 23 actually had a suspect SFMR of 207. So even an EF5 tornado
They don't last that long though. And don't warrant much rainfall, mainly hail. But I guess it's a good comparison.
Dorian was bad, but tornadoes are much worse than hurricanes in many ways, even if the wind speed is said to be the same. Often it's hard if not impossible to estimate max tornado wind speed as they're very localized, so the quoted wind speeds are underestimations. Also, winds in tornadoes are extremely erratic and have a vertical component to them (i.e. houses literally pulled up from the ground by the pressure differential) and are thus much more destructive than hurricane straight-line winds with the same speed.
Powerlines fall, boards penetrate walls, houses get eaten and spat out miles away... but legend has it, that Jim Cantore is still standing while giving us commentary on the EF-5 that just passed through his body.
