Lucien Foort is a Dutch DJ and producer, who’s a well known name in the industry for many years already. Lots of his productions get supported by the high and mighty of the dance scene and many of his tracks have topped the dance charts all around the world. During the years Lucien made tracks with the likes of Ferry Corsten, Martijn Ten Velden, Mark Norman, Technotronic and many others.
For this week’s vlog I sat down with Lucien in his brand new studio, to ask him about the track that became his big break through; “Quadrophonia” by Quadrophonia. A project from Lucien together with Olivier Abbeloos.
Of course we also spoke about Lucien’s project "Analog Kitchen", his future plans and more!

That key change destroys me, a very emotional track, he's long been a favourite producer of mine, the Dutch Suriname community has given us some fantastic music down the years.
His "future mix" on Repercussion😍
Hard Head - Quadrophonia
This trax and the one by T99 are instants rave classiks!! Early 90s the Golden Era❤❤❤
Yes! Two amazing classic! BTW, I did an interview with Olivier Abbeloos about T99 as well:

@@muzikxpress Thanks, I'll check out!!

Was lucky enough to meet Lucien and the other fellas from Qudrophonia backstage at Storm on Hastings Pier late 91. As mashed as we all where i remember them being really sound geezers.
One of my earliest memories of Rave tracks!

OMGosh. I was in Orlando, Florida when this dropped; 1992 The Edge, baby!
Not only did it drop, it pounced! This is by far my favorite techno track. THANK you, Lucien, for THE best era of. My. Life. ✌️ 👊
🙏🏻
This track changed me for life....it was the bridge to house and rave for me.
Great guy, loved the track too, great memories
Quadrophonia brings back so many memories when I was 14 or 15.
I am so grateful I got the chance to dance to this track in Heineken music hall. This is a true classic!
Love his progressive house classic tracks from early 00's. What a legend!
Such a classic.. heard this all over the place back in the day, I vividly remember dancing on the tables at the Astoria a firm favourite along with T99..
Not just my cousin but he (and Rene vd Weijde) is my greatest mentor productionwise by far.
I still remember how he brought a demo of Quadrophonia to Midtown records Dordrecht where I was working with Rene Bakker (RIP) at the time..;) Golden times indeed!
What a really genuine guy !! proper enjoyed that interview ! excellent stuff , and what a tune !!!!
Belgian Techno the best techno subgenre! thankssssss
This is Dutch / Belgian 😉
@@muzikxpress yes the ''Belgian Techno genre'' from Dutch/Belgian producers check wikipedia Belgian Techno
This and the wave of the future got me into electronic music as a kid maximum respect!
Both awesome tracks! 🙌🏻
I love this guy. So many classics.
The main hit sound was taken from AKAI S900's PSL9013 - Electronic Drums diskette, G5 HIT ARI.S
@@muzikxpress owww ツ leuk!! Zeker nog wel wat verhalen ;-)

@@ottovandentoorn6735 Ooh shit.😄
He comes across as a really honest guy
He is! Super nice and down to earth guy!
yes I did enjoy many thanks !!!
Eindelijk!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such a cool interview ! "Quandrophonia" will always be one of my favorite tracks AND it has truly passed the test of time. As a dj, I can still find a way to sneek it subtly into my house sets these days.
Thanks a lot Christopher!
timeless
Legend!
Great track, one of my all time favourites
Brussels has always had such a unique music scene. One of my favorite moments of music was someone who played a live show in that city, and there is probably a good recording and/or video still around. (I wasnt there. I just found a high quality recording).
Amon Tobin: Foley Room, Live in Brussels
Ever since then, I have paid extra attention to underground EU electronic music. Yeah, he is a Brazilian dj...yet that Brussels show is so specifically awesome regarding the EU style.
Quadrophonia! (fav!) Still have the record (Rave Classic!).
this was quite inspirational. Maybe I could make a weird song with my Metal-loving friend. Look forward to a mess from a breakbeat techno remixer and a noise/deathmetal producer!
As Lucien describes it, Quadrophonia is an "odd" song - but that's why it really stood out. It sounded new. In a way, it still does.
Definitely! Completely agree!
Nice one again !!
One of my all time heroes.
Fingers crossed!
Classic!
Thank you for the interview . I was lucky enough and I met him in Aruba any my quadrophonia album got signed :)
Such a great producer and musician
'blow your house'

Nederlands / Belgisch 😉 Lucien komt uit Nederland en Olivier uit België.
very nice interview Lucien ,
lucien is one of the coolest guys in the music biz
RAVE ON!.
great interview. he's such a great person. :)
I played his music back in the 90s hardcore rave party’s in Los Angels California u.s.a
at the time it came out it was like nothing else, the sound and the atmosphere of the songs are genius for me - i love(d) all the tracks but man with the masterplan was the favorite one, nowadays is more find the time and theme of quadrophonia...but frankly now writing this I would like to continue with the rest of the songs - bring so many memories and nostalgia...and btw not only the music but also the rap. Thanks Twan! btw just realized i do not have the record anymore so had to buy a vinyl copy immediately
Really great interview and such an interesting personality, i really enjoyed every bit of it. Cheers from Sweden!
Thanks so much!!
Amazing synths and a 909!
That record had some serious impact, and still has.
For sure! What a classic!
Wauw, veel geleerd van Lucien.
Fantastic. I remember hearing this track at a rave in 1991 and almost pooping my pants. Incredible !!!
In England by the way
Great interview!
Thank you!
I am still slightly amazed that this song was just randomly a track I often heard back in the early 2000's and was often on someone's winamp playlist with the visualizers running(Geiss, Milkdrop, Electric Sheep, etc)...and then years later I find out he is essentially a youtube professor and gig composer/dj chillin in the EU.
Crazy world.
Edit: his youtube instructional content is under the name AnalogKitchen btw.
This is a great interview buddy...
Thank you so much!
Great interview. Thank you. Subscribed
Thank you very much!!
Awesome track.
Saw it live during an MTV house party in the Netherlands.
Ben Liebrand was also there with future music on a DAT cassette.
In the 90’s i only got hold on the SB 5.005-9 pressing, that did not had the extended version on it, wich was my favorite (and for me the real original version) that was on the SB 5.005 pressing.
It took 28 years searching obssesively but now i got my copy, onfortunately without the sleeve
I am pretty sure i saw a version of this record the other day somewhere in my house. Curious what version i have
Wow what a guy. !!
🎶🎉💯💥
Wowww wow wowww. Because rave music circa 89 92 is my bag.
What a track right???
@@muzikxpress absolutely. In fact I couldn’t sleep last night and T99 Anastasia was in my head because I’ve been playing the full album again. I wanted to see if there’s an interview of T99. I had no idea it’s also the producer from Quadraphonia.
@@audiolego haha yes! One half of T99 is one half of Quadrophonia. Both tracks were made around the same time.
@@muzikxpress and here’s the crazy part. I have watched Analog Kitchen channel on RUclips and I just found out it’s the gentleman(Lucien) from Quadrophonia
Bleepy techno I remember music was certainly innovative back then techno and rave thes interviews are so good warehouse raves talk about nostalgia trip...I was only around 17 😪
Seems like all the best tracks are written really quickly, when the magic happens
Exactly!
It's hard to pick a favourite Quadrophonia track, since Cozmic Jam was full of great tracks. Still, it's nice to hear all about the process from the Riv-Master himself! :-)
I just bought a copy .. I remember it having a few different mixes .. ( I bloody hope ). As I used to mix this at party’s( maybe I’ve din listened to too many deadmaus tun e lately .. just seems cheesy. I’m fifty soon and fifty is a dodgy year in retrospect so get it any way .. it’s a was warming interview and it ibvviosly comes threw in inter view
Brilliant interview! This brought back so many memories of the early 90s!
Thank you so much! Such an iconic track, so I’m glad Lucien was willing to share the story behind it!
@@muzikxpress It was so amazing to hear the story behind the track, it was a huge influence for me. I can't believe it was produced in 2 hours completely! That is crazy!
@@djhellraiser-tensionmusic5076 Insane right??? That’s why I love those stories and finding out things like this hehe
@@muzikxpress I am blown away by how quickly some of my favorite tracks are made like this (Quadrophonia), Amphetamine, and First Rebirth! Thank you so much for all the work you put into doing the interviews, I watch every single one and share them around social media a lot! I am always looking forward to what artist you are going to surprise me with next! 😊
@@djhellraiser-tensionmusic5076 thank you so much for the support, I really, really appreciate it!!!
nice interveiw
Funky Tribe in Hedon.... legendarisch. Nog op tape!
Oh gaaf!!!! Nostalgie!
@@muzikxpress Absoluut! Tof interview weer Twan!
@@mastamove dank je!
Not only was this interview inspiring, but listening to the production sides of his track was amazing.
This Track was the inspiration for me back in the early 90s for producing my first ever track on an AMIGA, using protracker.
I was asked by a few local guys in Aberdeen / Scotland, to do a rave-type track at the age of 14, for a game they were coding up called MUZZY, and at the time I loved the Album from Quadrophonia and of course this track. ruclips.net/video/tgAG2GhqC7I/видео.html (goto 7.11mins on the video), bare in mind I was only 14 starting out playing around with music.
So thank you for this video and thank you even more Lucien for the inspiration all those yrs past.
I like "Quadrophonia", very interesting Interview! So if I understand right, there is no synth in this track and only Samples?
Hedon!!!! ^^
Sympathieke gast!
Zeer zeker!!
My old vinyl copy had KLF embossed on the center label. Anyone know what that was about? Was there a connection or was it a pressing error?
Speaking of Dutch House icons, how about do one with Chuckie? "Let The Bass Kick" was a huge wave in 2009. 🖤
This is not really the kind of music I do / did listen to, so it is also not one I would do an interview about tbh.
Where's the WHOA vocal sample from?
Sorry, I don’t speak Spanish, I only speak Dutch and English. So I won’t be able to make Spanish subtitles for my vlogs, sorry!
What mixer is that behind him?
Hit the decks compilation 91/2 great stuff
I agree, that this track could never be remixed.
Deep Dish?
No the original is the one
