It’s so refreshing to see a booktuber I’ve been following for years enjoying this book. I’ve been in this community for a long time and I’m sick and tired of seeing all these new book accounts on TikTok and Instagram bashing new and successful releases... I’ve debated distancing myself from the book community for a few months now and just read books on my own because I’ve discovered that how a book is perceived in the community influences how I feel about the book. I genuinely enjoyed Fourth Wing (and as I said, I’ve read fantasy books for many many years now) and I didn’t have major issues with it until people started hating on the book online 😕 So yeah, it’s really nice and comforting to see you, as one of the OG booktubers, enjoying this book 💕☺️ You’re one of the few sources I trust when it comes to books 🥰
thank you so much! i feel the exact same. it’s “cool” to tear things apart on socials that are popular with the masses and i find that so disheartening. i read to escape and laugh and have a great time in another universe and that’s what this book did for me 🤓❤️
@@polandbananasBOOKS Have you considered there are a myriad of critical issues you yourself pointed out in the book? Of course it has critics. The book is very obviously bad.

This makes me so happy! Currently reading Fourth Wing for the second time and there’s like, so much sprinkled in foreshadowing that I just didn’t catch before. So fun! So good!

It's less "foreshadowing" and more a matter of the plot being so insanely derivative that it offers nothing surprising
so glad that at least Christine liked the book. Most of my favourite Booktubers haven't liked it. I gave this one 4 and a half stars bc I bought into the hype and I loved it, but I do agree with book tubers out there that it was a little YA and played into a lot of tropes. Though I remain positive about the book
there's a reason tropes are tropes, they entertain the shit out of us and make the story world go round =D
@@polandbananasBOOKS A trope does not mean it can be applied haphazardly any more than owning a chisel means you can recreate the Venus de Milo.

Loved this!! You had so many of the same thoughts that I had! Also, super weird, but I had “Run Boy, Run” stuck in my head whilst I was reading for at least 100 pages and then you sang it and referenced the book to the song at the end of the vlog 😱😍
Was so confused why Gryphon stumped you as it was spelt normally...a quick Google search told me that the US spells it Griffin. Wild! Apparently you learn something new every day 😂
Griffin is the usual US spelling but I think authors here still use gryphon a lot because it looks like a medieval spelling to us lol

I've seen two theories I like. One, Violets mom tried to kill her by sending her to the riders. When she crossed the parapet the weather got worse, her mom controls storms. Also her reasoning would be if Violet joined the scribes she'd likely find out everything and be a liability. Two, Andarna can time travel and is from the future, and she's back to save Violet and Xaden and her parents which is why she bonded as a baby.
God I hope the absurd time travel theory going around ends up being true. Even for good authors the logistics and consequences of time travel will, at best, completely consume the plot. Because Rebecca Yarros gives zero shits, her attempting to write time travel is going to be an absolute trainwreck and I can drink Booktok's tears from the fallout.
Christine, PLEASE. If you are going to read a digital copy please get yourself a kindle. I promise you won’t regret it!

You are adorable! I love how you try to pronounce the words. I am obsessed with listening to audio samples to find out before I pronounce the whole book wrong. The author didn't put a pronunciation guide in this one, but I hope she does for the second. Also, you mentioned how Xaden is a book boyfriend now... he has shadow powers ;) All the best book boyfriends have shadow powers. Ruhn and Rhys and Azrael and now Xaden! squeeee! Loving it. I think he has definitely overtaken Rowan (although he does remind me of him when he's training Aelin) for me and is just slightly below Rhys on my book boyfriend list. He's got so much in common with all of them. I really like what you said at the end about books being re-introductions for people who have lost their interest in books to come back again. It's so true. For me, it was Thea Harrison and the book "Dragon Bound" If you haven't read it yet, I think you would like it and she has tons of books in the series!
What I want to know is how a grown woman is struggling with at least half of these words. The Gaelic I can understand her stumbling on because even Rebecca Yarros has an extremely poor grasp of the language. But how does a fantasy reader have trouble understanding what a gryphon is?

The book isnt something we havent read before.. Its not the best writing.. Its a bit predictable..
The cliffhanger I foresaw about half way in the book, so to me it wasnt a surprise..
But man oh man, I got hooked. Theres just something about it that draws you in and makes you read till your eyes get red (pun intended).. Maybe its spelled Xaden (LOL).. But man, the wait for Onyx storm is torture.
I absolutely loved this book. And I love your interpretation and opinions of it. You have an awesome personality. Also I'm starting Sarah J Maas Crescent City today. Thanks for motivating me

Just finished reading Fourth Wing and this was a hoot, lovely to see others having the same experiences at the same time and to relive it.
The over thinking of the pronunciation was 10000% relatable to me. Also, I had an epiphany watching this vlog: What if Violet's dad was killed by her mom or her mom allowed it to happen which is why Brennen had to fake his death because I don't remember if they stated how or why he died, but it could also be another cover and secret that she kept from Violet because she clearly is a monster.
OUUU I LIKE THIS THEORY
But there was a letter from Lilith (!) Objecting to execution of the rebels' children...maybe she is in on it and is playing her role well :)
