Fun drinking game: Take a shot every time Violet and Dain refer to each other as “my best friend” whilst exhibiting absolutely no friendship chemistry at any point. You’ll die!
Yes. So much this. I don't get why the author did not just have them get together for a bit, fuck, and then fall out. That would have made so much more sense.
this book is so bad, I don't get why it has a 4.6+ rating... like yes it was entertaining and a fast read but it doesn't deserve anything more than 4.0
I feel like it was more so because they had history together. I don’t know if you have people in your life that you kept around just because you’ve known them a long time, but it doesn’t really make any sense that you’re still friends or “best” friends just based on length of time rather than substance.

"Protagonist motivated by the thought that rebellion killed her older brother only to turn out her older brother is actually leading rebellion now" is the exact plot twist that happens in Red Queen and so if Brennan makes it out of these books actually alive I'll eat my hat
Ironically the two chapters at the end of Fourth Wing and Iron Flame from Xaden's pov give us more about him as a character than any of Violet's horny a** thoughts throughout both books
I read 75% of this book lightning fast. And then straight up DNF'd the last 25%. I got so bored of Xaden and Violet banging so quickly and I just couldn't do it anymore. Your review is almost exactly how I felt about this book. P.S. My favorite two HILARIOUS things about this book were 1) Violet's hair NATURALLY ombres to silver "because she's so weak and deficient", and 2) the dragon rider obstacle course is literally the course from American Ninja Warrior, but made vertical. I still laugh when I think about it lmao
I'm 75% through, just skipped through the sex scene, and don't know if I will be able to finish it. I wish this had been fantasy and not just constant thirsting. Basically is combat 50 shades of female fantasizes about guy she's supposed to hate who comes to like her I guess for no discernable reason. Also there's like dragons for some reason.
i was so certain that the silver ombre thing had something to do with a hidden power or secret heritage. i gotta say i've been disappointed so far, since that character aspect hasn't paid off and has started to reek of "not like other girls" instead
Oh my gosh I do not see enough people talking about the American Ninja Warrior rip off. I definitely think this book is trashy fun and I finished it but that part definitely took me out of the story so sharply. I actually stopped reading to Google if other people thought it was as ridiculous as me and they don't seem to! So I appreciate that I'm not alone haha
I read The Fourth Wing like a week ago and tbh when I read a book that's clearly meant solely for a fun time I don't think much about it. It's just fun and vibes. I only realized how absurd some of the things in the book really are after you started giving your review😂 But you're completely right and I don't even care. I had a hell of a good time reading and that's all I care about.
My thoughts exactly! It want a masterpeice or anything, and a lot of the fantasy aspects were in the background. Not to mention the plot felt fairly predictable, but it was a fun and quick read. :D
Fun, fluffy things can be original and well-written. This drivel is derivative shite. It's a cliché storm, filled with stolen ideas -- not inspired by, just lifted wholesale from other stories. The plot is stupid, the characters are terrible, the world-building sucks, and the prose is laughably awful. Not a single original thought was had. People need to have better standards, even for escapism.
@@Goldi_Kati really liked 1st book but 2nd let me down. Violet/Xaden relationship moved too fast in 1st book. They became so toxic in 2nd book. And she lost all of her brain cells i think when she wanted to know all the secrets. Lets hope 3rd will be better than 2nd
To me this is the perfect blurb summary of the book if someone asks me about it. I rolled my eyes so many times, but there were also a couple of moments when I literally fist pumped while I was reading. 😂
As someone who generally doesn’t like fantasy or romance, I should never have picked this book up. But I have read an embarrassing amount of fan fiction over the years from different shows. FOURTH WING reminds me of those fics that keep you scrolling until dawn because you have to find out what happens. I loved it.
@@Shortstack732 yess exactly. Like I cringed every single second of reading it but I was hopelessly hooked and could not put it down even if I wanted to lol
I love this review cause it's basically how I felt about it. I had so much fun reading while also being like wow some of this is hilarious in an awkward way.
You speak my mind! The main character constantly goes: oh he’s so hot and sexy within a dark setting just makes me laugh out loud and cringe at the same time 😂
I am a heavy fantasy reader, and I have to say Fourth Wing gave my brain the break it needed! The plot and characters were fun to go along with, and it was an easy and fun read! I think many went into this book thinking it would be more "high" fantasy and filled with politics and elaborate language, and I can see how this wouldn't have been their cup of tea. But I went in blind, and I enjoyed is so much! At the end of the day, every person has a different taste in books, writing styles and plots/tropes, and thats okay!
Woooow you speak my language. It is so great to see someone who can have fun reading and also acknowledge it's not a master piece without being above it all.
I 100% agree, Fourth Wing is written for the girlies that were obsessed with Divergent in 2012-2014. It's a *slightly* more mature version of the YA books that were popular back then with a "fun" world and more magic. Violet is Tris, Xaden is Four, the parapet is the chasm, etc. And I absolutely loved reading it.
I AGREE, like towards the end of fourth wing I feel like her emotions for him were too lovey dovey still. Like she could’ve hated him more and longer 😭😭
the author should have paced it better tbh. like throw in a rls with dain after they kiss but then violet realizes she isn’t that into it. make xaden and violet attracted to each other and dain and violet break up. then the tension between the two grows for like a book or at least half of one instead of 25% of the book and they go from “damn i’m stuck with HIM?” to “wow i would kill for u and i literally let my assassin go.” it’s kinda silly
babe you are quite literally the ONLY book reviewer i watch. your reviews are so thorough and (girl i got adhd), you speak fast and straight to the point and i love it. looking forward to more videos !
such a great review!!! and yeah i feel like books can be a victim of their own popularity/hype when they start being picked up by readers they aren’t meant for. i’m not a romantasy reader and don’t plan on reading this book but i feel like a lot of the criticism and hate is far too serious for how unserious of a book it sounds like it is lmao
I know on a fundamental level that this book is not a brilliant, one of a kind, groundbreaking sort of book, but THE WAY IT HAS TAKEN OVER MY LIFE. Like, I don't remember being this obsessed over anything (Harry Potter doesn't count, I will live in that world til the stay I die). I have read it 3 times this year. I love the characters and... I don't know. This thing is like a drug. I KNOW it's not that good, BUT I ENJOY IT SO MUCH.
I categorize this as a fun popcorn book. I really enjoyed myself while reading it. I was giggling and kicking my feet but it is no where close to being the best book of the year or cracking a top spot for me.
I’ve been binge reading A Song Of Ice And Fire and needed a break from GRRM’s complex writing and worldbuilding that kept some of the fantasy elements and Fourth Wing achieved that goal for me. Different books have different purposes and as long as a book does what you need it to it’s a good book for you
Yes! I haven’t read much in the past few years because of life stuff, but I used to be an avid reader. (Avid as in reading 2-3 books a week easily) This was a perfect way to satisfy my recent reading hyperfixation without overloading me with random details and worldbuilding. Also on that train of thought, y’all have any more dragon fantasy recommendations? I know of wings of fire, but not really anything else.
@@MoonlitBookworm73 Talon, Firelight, How to Shape a Dragon's Breath (haven't read this one yet but has solid reviews), Eragon (being a classic), and Dragon Rider are all dragon books that I have on my own personal shelf!
Actually, there are many., many people loved this book; I suggest you get over it. I'm sure the author is crying all the way to the bank over your opinion...lol
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I loved this book it was probably the most fun I had while reading a book for a looooong time. Sometimes I don’t want to have deep thoughts and to be deciphering complicated prose. Sometimes I just want fun entertainment. And fourth wing delivered
Okay this review is perfect for me. Like exactly how I feel. Was it LIFE-CHANGING? Absolute not. However, it was daaaamn fun. And sometimes that’s all ya need!
God this review was a breath of fresh air, I was down the rabbit hole debating if I should get this book or not because people were picking it apart and yet it only became more enticing . . . if you look at the comments on those videos everyone is like "what did you expect from booktok" and "I had terrible taste when I was 16 too" and just overall trashing on people who like this book (as well as misunderstanding WHY people might like it). I love your take, which is it's fun, and that's not for everyone. I'm getting the impression that Yarros speedrun the writing of this book (she's got six other titles she's releasing this year) and personally, that only raises the book higher in my opinion because how many people can crank out a book AND make it entertaining and enthralling for readers on such a wide scale? If people put it in the proper context, I think they would enjoy it more or at least see it for what it is.
The divergent comparison is fantastic. Fourth Wing gave me the exact same feelings that divergent, hunger games, etc gave me the first time i read them. The nostalgia! I have been searching and longing for this feeling. Was fourth wing the best book ever? No. But i had a fantastic time reading it, i couldn‘t put it down!
@@colleen6644 only because of the nostalgia! Like i had such a good time reading them, and I searched for that „high“ for so long and found this good time in fourth wing. Regarding the „craftmanship“ of the authors, these books are totally different! I hope you understand what I mean 🙈
Another insane thing was how more than 3 relic baring characters went on a mission (the war game) together, which is against the rules in the book, but hardly anything was said about it. Like what were they gonna say after they got back from the mission 😂. Still loved the book tho 💕 also loved your thoughts on the book 💕
I suppose the argument could be that they weren’t alone there you know? If I’m remembering correctly it was three or more alone, so I suppose you could get away with it because Violet is there and she doesn’t have the relic.
Your comparison to the divergent and saying whoever liked that would also like fourth wing is very accurate, I absolutely LOVED both. The books were just very fun and gave me an absolutely great time
I am a big FOURTH WING girly. It was one of my first fantasy book (best for beginners) and I LOVED THE DRAGONS PART more than the romance. I loved Tairn, Sgael and Goldie.
Was surprised when you mentioned your pronunciation of dragon because I didn't hear anything different, but then you mentioned Wisconsin and I was like "oh... I'm also from Wisconsin. That's why" lol
The book itself was pretty fun, but I'm kind of scared for the rest of the series considering that Iron Flame came out so fast. Hoping and praying that the series continues to be fun
Just wanted to say I absolutely adore your content! Your editing, your humor, your portrayals of books, all wonderful and definitely my new fave!! Keep doing what you’re doing!
Now this is what I call an honest review. You’re not gushing over it nor are you ripping it to shreds. You’re telling the good and the bad and being honest that you like it. News flash people, it’s ok to like something that’s popular even if you came in with the intention to hate it. Sometimes something becomes popular because the creator found an itch people wanted to be scratched and they created something to do just that.
I told my friend it was like an Eragon/Hunger Games mix bc that’s how I felt reading it, but I definitely get the Divergent comparison, too! Btw I found you on TikTok and I love that you’re on RUclips now ❤
Crazy this was made 9 months ago and I just saw it pop up on my suggested section, right after a bunch of my friends read this and have not stopped posting about it! Lexi never lets me down with the reviews, you're the best, never change!
18:17 As someone who actually lives with chronic illness, I think the aspect that she was freakishly good at everything she tried was unrealistic at best and hurtful at worst.
I agree with everything you said except the way you say dragon (respectfully). I listened to this as an audiobook, and I think that’s sometimes a decent cure for the wattpad-level cringe-writing. Hearing an actual person commit to the dialogue goes a long way in terms buy-in for me. Regardless, I, too, am bulletproof. I will prevail in the face of prosaic nonsense masquerading as depth for the sake of an interesting plot. Every time.
Yess, about a popular book sometimes just not being right for you! Each person has their own unique taste and what works for most sometimes just doesn’t work for you. I thought about reading Fourth Wing because o FOMO but I think it’s not my book. Thank you for this video!!
I DIED when The Cruel Prince crept up🤣🤣🤣 Could not agree more. I loved the dragons in this book but I went in with way too high of expectations and ended up hating everything else. I agree with everything you said at the end of the video and unfortunately for me, I’m in the girli camp that couldn’t get past the cringe😅
Love your TikTok’s and so happy to have these long form reviews here. Super fair review of fourth wing! I gave it around the same rating because it was just a good time!
For me, I’m a middle aged man who does not read much and I had never heard of it. I recently finished a physical copy of Fire and Blood because I wanted to know what happens in House of the Dragon. I bought a Kindle because reading that book re-sparked a love I had forgotten about for reading fantasy. When I did, it came with a free trial of Kindle Unlimited, and I decided to see what was there rather than buying a book. FW was the number one book on popular reads, so I looked at the reviews. I didn’t expect to like it, but thought I would check it out. I just finished it this morning, and I have to say, I’m hooked. I joined the Reddit sub, and I’m researching everything about it now. Can’t wait for the show.
Your review fully captured all my thoughts about this book. Really appreciated your take that it’s not meant to take too seriously, and you can poke a billion holes into something and still find it silly, fun, and worth a read just for the vibes. Plus, her dragons are 100% the best part of the book!

I don’t mean this in a weird way, but I could listen to you talk about books forever 😅 this video was SO ENTERTAINING, and I couldn’t agree more with everything that was said
How this book was so easy and fun to read. Like we don't need literary masterpieces all the time. I don't even need it to be brilliant. Sometimes I need a fun soap opera and I'm here for it! AND are a lot of readers missing the point with this book? Yes. If you go in for fun it's great. If you have had someone, overhype it as the best ever. It won't be that! Its great fun and I loved that about it! AND the second book really continued that journey of adventure and fun. I'm here for it. AND I loved your joyous take on this!
I had to stop watching at around 5:10 bc of spoilers. This book is next on my list to read. I'm saving this (I'm subscribed also) to watch after I finish the book. 😊
mmmm Gale had a bunch more nuance to him, you can kinda see Gale get radicalized as the story goes on, and you get to see the hows and whys of it, we miss all that with Dane.
I love your reviews ans opinions in general. Not a single video swayed me on A Little Life until I seen your video saying you haven't read it because you don't want to be ruined and I ordered it that night 🤣 I trust you with all the book recs!
Lollll I never saw anyone else point this out, but yes that’s impossible because the whole hair strand grows from the same shaft, so it wasn’t producing melanin and then started producing it after it grew out some… but then if she ever cuts her hair, she’d just have black hair and no more silver. Or if it did grow silver again, it would be silver at her roots 😂
it felt trashy but i loved every second of it. it was fairly easy to read; squimmed a lot through the descriptions but hey! it could've been way worse: it could've been boring
I agree with everything you said! I thought the book was really fun even if it was cringe sometimes. All I've seen are super negative reviews so this was refreshing :)
I'm really late but YESS. Oh my god, this is exactly what I thought after I read it. I definitely came into this book expecting Poppy War type shit. BUT after reading it I was kind of really disappointed with it cause I'm a fantasy reader and I expected something really excellent - like 5 star worth - after I saw the hype generated around it. But now I'm kinda happy with it, it wasn't what I wanted it to be but that wasn't what the book wanted to be. It definitely felt like a mix of a bunch of different fantasy books and not like its own thing, but that's fine. I think as long as you go into knowing you're not going to get Six of Crows, five star book, you'll really enjoy it. It's just a fun time and the book doesn't take itself too seriously and doesn't try too hard. It will also GET YOU OUT OF A READING SLUMP and that's what it did for me. So yeah, Have a lovely day/night
Omg I am genuinely obsessed. Hello, fellow Wisconsinite! Your vlog inserts? *chefs kiss* Your editing and style? *confetti* and i love hearing your thoughts!! IMMEDIATELY SUBSCRIBED
I thought this was a really kind and relevant review! A friend pitched this to me as „groundbreaking, amazing AND gritty!“ - while knowing the context that I do not really love romance and really like Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I am so happy people enjoy it! But I could and should have saved the money, the moment I read thit back text and though „oh god this sounds like a mistake“. There is an alternative universe version that would eat this up. But the present universe version… had thought about replacing the Love interests names and pronouns with female ones and reading it as well written W/W erotica-esque fantasy trash.
Anyone notice how Violet never ever loses an argument, even when she's obviously wrong? That's what killed this book for me. To enjoy this, you HAVE to imagine yourself as the Mary Sue MC and mentally be a total narcissist with a serious chip on your shoulder. Otherwise, its impossible to put up with her for like 200k words
i loved this book and although there were certain points of ur video that i didn’t actually realize but don’t agree with, it’s generally a very fun book to just take at face value. honest opinion is that it doesn’t make sense when u take it all apart, which is why it’s fantasy. it isn’t something super deep because then it would be a classic like little women or to kill a mockingbird. all this stuff was just shits and giggles (until someone died that i fucking loved and it tore my heart to pieces, but WHATEVERRR.) oh and also the romance plot was so good at the start but then violet gets attached and is like “damn ik we literally can’t survive without each other but i wouldn’t want to live without u anyways so let’s bang and announce our love for each other!” it’s a funny little thing that i just didn’t think too much about. usually when i’m reading a book i love and i find something bad about it i just try to enjoy the book as much as possible and just take it as it’s written. it helps with the whole experience thing to me.
So I loved Fourth Wing, but so curious to hear other peoples thoughts. This is the first video of yours i'm watching and I really love the way you talk about it and im instantly following!
This is the kind of book that makes me want to hear an asexual reviewer's opinion Like, if you take out the "hotness" of the characters, steamy flirting, hormonal logic, and smut (if there is any) is this still enjoyable?
Sneaking in here some time later, Ace people are often the ones who write the filthiest smut on A03. For a group of people who don't experience sexual attraction.... smut in fiction is, for some of us, just as much a fantasy as the dragons and magic. Note: I don't speak for all asexuals, just myself and many that I know.
@@Starscall you're right that I should have specified that I'm talking about asexuals who are not into sex, that's why I went on to explain what I was specifically curious about And no, those asexuals who are on the end of the spectrum where they write smut etc. are not representative for all asexuals, for example me Neither are sex repulsed asexuals of course, nor all the other varieties
@@Mad.E Well. There's my Aego friends who not only enjoy the smut, they write it, they run the kink bingo writing challenges, etc. Then there's those like my own mum who.... honestly tend to just not read the steamy bits. She enjoys romance, but has zero interest in spice. I would consider myself a sex neutral ace and it depends on my mood. I usually skim the spice for dialogue that might be important but otherwise mostly skip it too. Because I'm usually not interested in the sex, but I love love and I'm aware the two tend to go hand in hand for most. I definitely feel like I don't "get" as much as an allo does from so called spicy books, but I'm still here to kick my feet at the cute romance bits and enjoy the fantasy plot points regardless.
@@Starscall I appreciate your elaboration and welcome you sharing your perspective and experiences! And I don't know if this is necessary, but I just wanna make clear: This is not news to me. I know a variety of other asexuals as well. And I, an asexual, have a ambivalent relationship to sex myself. Usually tending to simply be annoyed and bored by it. I hope you still get where I was coming from with my original comment: I was voicing my curiosity for the perspective of asexuals in general. But specifically those who might be able to provide a review that ignores the smut and doesn't give poorly written characters or (romantic/sexual/interpersonal) relationships a default pass based on them being 'hot'. I get that you were explaining how books are still enjoyable to you despite the smut, but I personally do detract quite some 'points' if large swaths of a book are extremly boring to me or I skip right over them. For comparison: a horror book has to have quite great writing and a good story for me to power through, since I also don't enjoy gore/jump scares/terror etc.
Very late answer, but my take was that I enjoyed the friendship and quiet/bonding moments between characters but when Violet was having all those horny thoughts constantly, it made me both roll my eyes really hard and feel uncomfortable. The smut scenes were really hard to get through, and the emphasis on physical aspect of relationship and how its normal didnt feel too good or engaging. I would like the book so much more if the pointless thirsting was taken out. As result, I only liked Violet during the chaptet where she chose her dragons. The main lead guy was good, but not because he was hot, he honestly sounded more intriguing and I wanted him as main character, I think story like that would be much more interesting to me
The way I RACED to watch this review after I finished this book. Is it a fun, slightly “trashy” read? Absolutely. Is it cringe at points? 100% Did I finish this book in like a week? Also yes 😂
Loved your review, I agree with so much. It is fun, but there was a lot that I questioned. I'm just glad this is getting people reading and maybe interested in a new genre. :)
you are absolutely right with this review. Also, considering everything the first half of the book was good. As soon as the romance started, I was out. I wanted to skip these scenes. Everything felt off and he was suddenly so obsessed with her after hating her the entire time? and the smut scenes? jesus

Her hair noo 😭Reminds me of Mare from Red Queen lol
I read The Fourth Wing like a week ago and tbh when I read a book that's clearly meant solely for a fun time I don't think much about it. It's just fun and vibes. I only realized how absurd some of the things in the book really are after you started giving your review😂 But you're completely right and I don't even care. I had a hell of a good time reading and that's all I care about.
My thoughts exactly! It want a masterpeice or anything, and a lot of the fantasy aspects were in the background. Not to mention the plot felt fairly predictable, but it was a fun and quick read. :D
I could not agree more!
@@christiegreenwood2642this comment sounds so miserable lol
“Is this book going to be winning any Hugo Awards? Absolutely not. Is this book winning my fan fiction wattpad-loving heart? Yes! It’s so much fun!” 💯

The fact she thanked her Heavenly Father in the acknowledgements made me sick. He would never support the porn that is in this book.
@@SarahRudmanJehovah is a freak, as only true members know.
I love this review cause it's basically how I felt about it. I had so much fun reading while also being like wow some of this is hilarious in an awkward way.
Thats so true
You speak my mind! The main character constantly goes: oh he’s so hot and sexy within a dark setting just makes me laugh out loud and cringe at the same time 😂
I am a heavy fantasy reader, and I have to say Fourth Wing gave my brain the break it needed! The plot and characters were fun to go along with, and it was an easy and fun read! I think many went into this book thinking it would be more "high" fantasy and filled with politics and elaborate language, and I can see how this wouldn't have been their cup of tea. But I went in blind, and I enjoyed is so much! At the end of the day, every person has a different taste in books, writing styles and plots/tropes, and thats okay!
yes! i thought it was very fun, as a fellow avid fantasy reader
Wait no why is that actually so true
Yes, as a huge fan of divergent and hunger games this felt like a mesh of the two, but better.
OMG yes!! Like idc at all about the wattpad vibes it was so much fun to read
Rhiannon is Christina, Jack is Peter
I honestly think the romance moved too fast. Specially knowing that there will be four more books.
I AGREE, like towards the end of fourth wing I feel like her emotions for him were too lovey dovey still. Like she could’ve hated him more and longer 😭😭
4 more books?
FOUR?!?!???
the author should have paced it better tbh. like throw in a rls with dain after they kiss but then violet realizes she isn’t that into it. make xaden and violet attracted to each other and dain and violet break up. then the tension between the two grows for like a book or at least half of one instead of 25% of the book and they go from “damn i’m stuck with HIM?” to “wow i would kill for u and i literally let my assassin go.” it’s kinda silly
babe you are quite literally the ONLY book reviewer i watch. your reviews are so thorough and (girl i got adhd), you speak fast and straight to the point and i love it. looking forward to more videos !
such a great review!!! and yeah i feel like books can be a victim of their own popularity/hype when they start being picked up by readers they aren’t meant for. i’m not a romantasy reader and don’t plan on reading this book but i feel like a lot of the criticism and hate is far too serious for how unserious of a book it sounds like it is lmao
THIS IS EXACTLY IT I feel like I’m 14 again when I’m reading it and obsessing over it
@@elizahall9689 It's crazy to me how I feel exactly the same!

Ah yes, my college major: getting ass and investigating secrets
I categorize this as a fun popcorn book. I really enjoyed myself while reading it. I was giggling and kicking my feet but it is no where close to being the best book of the year or cracking a top spot for me.
I’ve been binge reading A Song Of Ice And Fire and needed a break from GRRM’s complex writing and worldbuilding that kept some of the fantasy elements and Fourth Wing achieved that goal for me. Different books have different purposes and as long as a book does what you need it to it’s a good book for you
Same, except Fourth Wing made me want to go back to ASOIAF more than ever lmaooo

Literally exactly what I did. It was exactly what I was hoping for.
This book has me convinced that good marketing can turn mediocrity into a sensation. I’m guessing they just paid a bunch of booktockers.
My theory is that they just sent a TON of arcs out - I got two completely unsolicited. Just very aggressive marketing

for me it was the fact that the whole book was from Violet perspective AND JUST ONE CHAPTER from Xaden pov????? It was so messy.... Great blog💗
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I loved this book it was probably the most fun I had while reading a book for a looooong time. Sometimes I don’t want to have deep thoughts and to be deciphering complicated prose. Sometimes I just want fun entertainment. And fourth wing delivered
I’m happy I went in blind. I laughed out loud for so many scenes and had a blast reading. I even shedded a tear 😅
It hurts my heart slightly that Hunger Games and Divergent are considered equivalent in the same sentence, but I hear you.
@@colleen6644 only because of the nostalgia! Like i had such a good time reading them, and I searched for that „high“ for so long and found this good time in fourth wing. Regarding the „craftmanship“ of the authors, these books are totally different! I hope you understand what I mean 🙈
you’re my favorite booktoker and now my new favorite youtuber💜💜
Another insane thing was how more than 3 relic baring characters went on a mission (the war game) together, which is against the rules in the book, but hardly anything was said about it. Like what were they gonna say after they got back from the mission 😂. Still loved the book tho 💕 also loved your thoughts on the book 💕
I suppose the argument could be that they weren’t alone there you know? If I’m remembering correctly it was three or more alone, so I suppose you could get away with it because Violet is there and she doesn’t have the relic.
I also think that the goal was for them all to get killled, because they were giving weapons away to the “enemy”.
Yes. They were also on a mission I think the rule applied for when they were 'at ease' or whatever they call it when they are chilling
You're my new favorite person on the internet and I trust everything you say
this is a fantastic review but also. I hate it here because now you've convinced me I might actually like this book 😭
Honestly, I relate to so many words that come of your mouth about books. And I hope you love this as much as I did 😂
Your comparison to the divergent and saying whoever liked that would also like fourth wing is very accurate, I absolutely LOVED both.
Btw I found you on TikTok and I love that you’re on RUclips now ❤
This is word for word what I told my friends. This book was my fanfiction dream and nothing else. And I love it

the scalp prickling thing the author writes every time xaden is in the vicinity KILLED ME
18:17 As someone who actually lives with chronic illness, I think the aspect that she was freakishly good at everything she tried was unrealistic at best and hurtful at worst.
Every time.
thank you for doing a spoiler free review and time stamping it!
Yess, about a popular book sometimes just not being right for you! Each person has their own unique taste and what works for most sometimes just doesn’t work for you. I thought about reading Fourth Wing because o FOMO but I think it’s not my book. Thank you for this video!!

Violet is giving Aline from Shadow and Bone and Dain is giving Gale from Hunger Games
Omg he is Gale. I hated Gale the whole time too.
mmmm Gale had a bunch more nuance to him, you can kinda see Gale get radicalized as the story goes on, and you get to see the hows and whys of it, we miss all that with Dane.
Couldn’t have said any of this better myself. I give the book 5 stars. 4 because it was a blast and the 5th because dragons

I wanna read it so bad but it lost me when I read that she had naturally sliver tipped hair
LMAO yes this is valid
Lollll I never saw anyone else point this out, but yes that’s impossible because the whole hair strand grows from the same shaft, so it wasn’t producing melanin and then started producing it after it grew out some… but then if she ever cuts her hair, she’d just have black hair and no more silver.
Or if it did grow silver again, it would be silver at her roots 😂

I trust your book taste on my life so this video will decide if I read this book or not!!!

I just started the audiobook and when they said what Dain’s signet power was I immediately got the ick. Had to pause it 😅

i loved this book and although there were certain points of ur video that i didn’t actually realize but don’t agree with, it’s generally a very fun book to just take at face value. honest opinion is that it doesn’t make sense when u take it all apart, which is why it’s fantasy. it isn’t something super deep because then it would be a classic like little women or to kill a mockingbird. all this stuff was just shits and giggles (until someone died that i fucking loved and it tore my heart to pieces, but WHATEVERRR.) oh and also the romance plot was so good at the start but then violet gets attached and is like “damn ik we literally can’t survive without each other but i wouldn’t want to live without u anyways so let’s bang and announce our love for each other!” it’s a funny little thing that i just didn’t think too much about. usually when i’m reading a book i love and i find something bad about it i just try to enjoy the book as much as possible and just take it as it’s written. it helps with the whole experience thing to me.
This book was so Divergent coded and 14 year old me would loved every second of this
So I loved Fourth Wing, but so curious to hear other peoples thoughts. This is the first video of yours i'm watching and I really love the way you talk about it and im instantly following!
This is the kind of book that makes me want to hear an asexual reviewer's opinion
Like, if you take out the "hotness" of the characters, steamy flirting, hormonal logic, and smut (if there is any) is this still enjoyable?
Sneaking in here some time later, Ace people are often the ones who write the filthiest smut on A03. For a group of people who don't experience sexual attraction.... smut in fiction is, for some of us, just as much a fantasy as the dragons and magic.
Note: I don't speak for all asexuals, just myself and many that I know.
@@Starscall you're right that I should have specified that I'm talking about asexuals who are not into sex, that's why I went on to explain what I was specifically curious about
And no, those asexuals who are on the end of the spectrum where they write smut etc. are not representative for all asexuals, for example me
Neither are sex repulsed asexuals of course, nor all the other varieties
The main lead guy was good, but not because he was hot, he honestly sounded more intriguing and I wanted him as main character, I think story like that would be much more interesting to me
I appreciate you saying everything that I was thinking. This is the book review I needed
The way I RACED to watch this review after I finished this book. Is it a fun, slightly “trashy” read? Absolutely. Is it cringe at points? 100% Did I finish this book in like a week? Also yes 😂
