Why does EVERYTHING have to turn to RACISM? This man lost his life serving this country. So what who did or didn't show up. Those that did did and those that didn't didn't. I'm a retired Navy Vet and i'm black sooooo, WHAT. I respect what this man did regardless of the color of his skin.
Man I remember when he died in the crash. It happened about 10 mins from my house. I was at work when it happened and I remember the tone of everyone went from happy and excited because the Blue Angels were in town to just sad and shocked and scared. I'll never forget that day. He will forever be in Middle Tennessee's thoughts. You sir are a true hero.
This man gave his life so 115 Neanderthals could pay their disrespects by giving this video a thumbs down I hope you haters are happy with yourselves because no one else is happy with you. RIP. Sir as a U.S. Air Force Vet I salute you.
Joe Schmo yeah I’m a big time Blue Angels nerd (so big that I fly the demo on DCS) my team: dcsblueangels.online/ but anyways yeah I used to love Fat Albert with his JATO takeoff but sadly it got too expensive and they had to do away with it 😕
Absolutely disgusting for anyone to give thumbs down, I only watched a documentary this morning about the Blues, Capt. Kuss was in the film. So many losses within these teams, Red Arrows etc, etc, these guys love doing what they do, no chance of them giving it up. God bless them all.
It may be disgusting, but not everyone lives in or is even slightly sympathetic to anything having to do with America. Isis had access to the internet just like we do.
Honestly it’s strange because if you thumbs up it seems like ur glad he died but if you give thumbs down your also glad he died, so just drop an f in chat.
To Capt. Jeff Kuss and your family. We share in great sympathy the loss of your husband, the father of your children. It's a really sad and difficult time that you'll always go through. Please accept our heartfelt sorrow for your huband, father of your children. The Gates To Heaven were open to receive his soul. An Angel, for sure
This comment is 4.5 years after this video was posted, but... I had the honor of photographing & meeting the 'Blues' in the early 1970's when I was a U. S. Army photographer, they were flying the MD A4F Skyhawk II... "They were heros then, they are heros now, they will always be heros"... God Bless the U. S. Military, each and every branch... For those of you that gave this video a thumbs down, remember this... The U. S. Military fought & died to give you the freedom to be a flaming jerk!
Oh my goodness! This gave me chills. I'm so sorry this happened. Thank you for your time in service, Capt. Kuss. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Shipmate. May you rest in peace. #ProudNavyVeteran 🇺🇸
Rob Tro I was at that show. I didn't find out until the Snowbirds made the announcement just prior to the missing man formation. That was just a bad weekend as the Thunderbirds had an accident that same weekend.
Went to school with that service member... Nothing but respect for him and his family, to now endure a loss, but admiration for his dedication. Rip sir
Gosh. I remember this clearly. My family and I were just leaving Tennessee from visiting relatives, and we were actually going to go watch the air show the next day for my younger brothers birthday. We had four tickets and my dad and brother were both ecstatic about going to watch the blue angels since several of my uncles/ aunts and grandparents served in the Air Force and Navy. We were a couple hours into the drive from Pickwick TN, when my mom told us that Captain Jeff Kuss had accidentally crashed during a practice course for the upcoming show. At first it was hard for us to believe, for an experienced Pilot to crash and die was just absurd to my 6 year old younger brother at the time. The show was canceled, and instead we spent our vacation in Pensacola without an air show. I remember leaving to go to the beach in the late afternoon/ early nighttime. Tons of people were at the beach, a lot more than usual, and they were holding up American Flags and representing the blue angels with t shirts and flags. There were several Jets that passed first, then, the plane carrying Captain Kuss’ body passed bye. Everyone went silent and saluted. Several more Jets followed. This moment will be remembered in flight history. Captain Kuss was loved by his many family members, including his wife and two children. Rest easy Captain Kuss, you will see us soon. ❤️
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace
It was much the same way when Captain Jeff Kuss' remains were brought home to Durango, Colorado, there was a Memorial 'PARADE' down the Main Avenue and literally thousands of people lined the sidewalks to honor him.

The Blue Angels are amazing. I had the privilege of seeing them fly everyday while stationed at NAS Pensacola and there skill is unparalleled. Also had the privilege to fly on Fat Albert once which is a once in a lifetime opportunity. RIP and Semper Fi, Sir
Don’t judge me I’m a little kid but whenever they referred to a dead body like a living person like when I said captain coose Returns to Pensacola that confused me
I met him, he came and talked at my school just a month or so before he passed, I met him in person and talked to him. A truly great man and an outstanding Marine.
The last time I saw them was one week before his untimely death. Jones Beach NY. I grew up watching them fly. When i was told what happened I was shocked repeating I have video of him doing the sneak pass over my head! This year I'll be at Stewart Intl. N.Y. will be the first time since then seeing them fly. again.
I think what really gets to me about this particular crash is that he _did_ actually manage to eject prior to impact but his parachute burned up in the fireball. Fucking horrible.
No matter the subject, there are always gonna be haters ! Let's focus not on the negativity but this great man who died doing what he loved to do. RIP Jeff Kuss. Fly high brother!
I only know of one other similar incident, an Aviator purposely flying his aircraft into the ground in order to save the lives of others. That singular act is one of the bravest acts of self sacrifice an Aviator can make. We Aviators the world over were awestruck by his sacrifice and I know that I was brought to my innermost feelings and had think about my own humanity. Would I have had the fortitude to make that decision.
140 thumbs down...shows evil exists in the world..... and Thank God for out military and a special Thank you to this Blue Angel pilot may you Rest In Peace.
I think it's because of the fact we lost someone who served and the fact a mother and father had to bury their son. No one likes the idea of losing someone who served and no one likes the idea of parents burying their child.
This video is a lot more heartwarming until you realize all of those people were basically cheering for an aerial funeral procession and honor guard. Change the context a little and all of those patriots become assholes.
Andrew T. It’s a good point, you don’t need to get defensive over it. You wouldn’t see this at a typical military procession, it is a little weird when you think about the laughing and carrying on. They have air demos for people who want to see the planes, go gawk and laugh at one of those. Turns this into a bit of a spectacle, and it has nothing to do with the Navy. It’s the crowd watching without a proper appreciation for exactly what it is in front of their eyes. At least someone is thinking. Also, “you’re jealous” is not a ‘one size fits all’ comeback to everything you don’t like. That was weird.
I agree with Kevin Houghton, anyone who would put a thumbs down to this video is a complete disgrace to Americans all throughout our great country! But this is about honoring a fallen Marine, a hero and a man whose memory will live on in every American who wears the sacred cloth of our country and who serves honorably, R.I.P. sir, you made on all of us Captain and you certainly be missed!
4 years later and I’m still in shock. I was at home when it happened watching them practice. Went inside right before he crashed then heard a loud explosion. Ran outside and saw a mushroom cloud. Immediately ran inside crying and shaking telling my dad that a plane crashed. Still traumatized to this day
kind of like the red arrows he had a power loss so he stayed in the plane to avoid it crashing into alice in wonderland resort gave his life to save others
None of that is what happened... he unfortunately just realized his error in flying too low and not turning his afterburners off for the dive way too late.
