The reason why she is flying the C-130 is because she is a fleet KC-130 pilot in the Marine Corps meaning that is what she flies whenever she leaves the team and returns to one of the 5 KC-130 squadrons the Marine Corps has. All of the pilots that fly the Hornet are Navy or Marine Corps F/A-18 pilots and they will return to flying F/A-18s upon returning to fleet Navy(VFA) or Marine Corps(VMFA) Hornet Squadrons.

Olive Papyrus not less than...just different missions.

    • @linanicolia1363

When you are in the Navy, you get your choices between, jets, helicopters or props. If you are lucky you get what you want and if not, you get what they need at the time. The C-130 is a turbo-prop which you cannot compare with a jet fighter. Different training and that is evaluated at the very beginning, after their basic officer's training. My son went through it and got the jets which he wanted. He felt grateful and lucky.

    • @ARMON180
      @ARMON180 4 года назад +4

Olive Papyrus Not a lesser plane. A different plane with a different mission. Once again thats the media painting a false narrative. There is no lesser plane or mission and if they understood the different missions that each aircraft performs and how important each of those missions are they wouldn’t use the term lesser. The Navy and the Marine Corps both fly different variations of the F/A-18 Hornet and the C-130 Hercules and use those aircraft to perform different missions. A quick google search of keywords like EA-18, F/A-18, C-130, and KC-130 and you’ll find more information.

lina nicolia Good for him! I bet you’re very proud of him. I’m very familiar with the Primary, Intermediate and Advance phases of the pipeline as I worked down in Pensacola FL for 3 years directly with the school house that continues to turn out outstanding Naval Aviators, Naval Flight Officers for the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Not to mention all of the enlisted aviation job training that goes on there that really is the driving force behind all these things.

    • @cdubois13

Olive Papyrus to the contrary the KC-130 carries fuel and is used for inflight refueling of Marine and Navy aircraft. The Blue Angels C-130 carries cargo so any Marine from the fleet comes to the Blues well experienced.

Everyone in the Blue Angel Demo Squadron is a Blue Angel. Unless they're out there fulfilling a mission elsewhere, they're Blue Angels. All of them. Right down to the person who pulls the chocks off of the tires. Hence the uniform. If you don't think everyone in that squadron contributes to their mission, and think the demo could go on without all of them, then you obviously don't understand the armed forces as a whole.

Typical time spent on the team for a pilot is around 3 years. She was not just "public relations". An F/A18 or Fat Albert, doesn't matter to me, she's still a part of the Blue Angels team. In fact, if you look up the history of Fat Albert, it and it's crew have done some amazing things in support of keeping the F/A18s in the air and performing.
Furthermore, Fat Albert is made up solely of Marine Corps Aviators. Trying to horse that C-130 around the sky as part of the Flight Demonstration Team is pretty awesome. I commend the Captain and am glad that she is there, doing what she is doing, representing the Corps, the Navy and female aviators and pilots from our service.

The demonstration the C-130 Crew puts on with Fat Albert is a very popular part of the Blue Angel flight demonstration. They way they fly that amazing plane all within the boundary of the airfield is always a hit.
FYI the Air Forces' flight demonstration squadron, I think they call them Thunderbirds (only joking) they are great, had a woman pilot on their team several years ago flying the F-16s.
There are women flying F-18s and all other aircraft from helos to patrol aircraft in the fleet. One of these days a woman pilot will be selected to fly the F-18. To be selected for any positon in the Blues is an honor. Every slot from the line crew to the Commander are the cream of the crop.

I believe Capt. Higgins is a native of Maryland, and whenever I see natives of the Blues or Thunderbirds from the east coast and Maryland it just makes me more proud to have a line line of military personnel that have served throughout our Armed Forces in all ranks for generations, though I have to admit I'm more bias toward the Thunderbirds given we have more Air Force than Navy in my family and if I had to get my sea legs on an aircraft carrier I'd probably puke! But either way Captain thanks so much for your outstanding service with The Blues, with our country and I hope and pray you continue to advance through the ranks and enjoy serving with the greatest military the world has ever known, Semper Fi, ma'am!

These naval aviator demonstration flight pilots are superb but nothing more challenging than flying off an aircraft carrier perhaps with the exception of moving on the surface of that flattop ships. My hat is off to these Navy professionals.

She is setting in the left seat which is pilot in command, the C130 is a different type
of flying than the FA18 but no less challenging.

My Mom and Stepdad said women couldn't do things. Women wouldnt make it in the Military.. I wanted to be a fighter pilot. Never shoot a kids dream down. This is the best proof we should never limit a growing child's inspiration and goals in life. No such thing as STUPID KIDS! I AM PROOF! I have no reason to remain silent in my fight to build any child anywhere.....DONT BEAT KIDS, DON'T HURT KIDS, DON'T TEAR THEM DOWN! BE GOOD TO THEM AND HELP THEM GROW. BECAUSE, THINGS LIKE THIS VLOG ARE POSSIBLE, IF WE BELIEVE ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE..... Pardon me my words are full of pain and no it's not ok to bottle it all up inside. Thank you for sharing such a cool vlog. Please no comments or silly remarks on my post because I won't tolerate it. It's about RESPECT AND APPRECIATING LIFE! NO BARRIERS NO LIMITS. I shouldn't regret saying such positive things. I love this vlog! Good for this Woman pilot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Blesa

Why not? If a female makes the cut, she makes the cut.
There is nothing wrong with a smart, talented female.
It shouldnt even be a big deal that she is a female.( ok, so shes the first...i get it)
It should be a big deal that she is a team member of an awesome flight team. Welcome, best wishes and hope to see you fly!

Having a lady on the team is OK, in the end the ratio is 5-7 guys to 1 woman, so they always can check on her and so. What really would be top interesting to see, is the whole team made up of women and commanded by a woman, doing sorties on certain days of the month and under the influence of certain hormones, and with all the little hatred, envy and cheap grudges women use to have at each other due to futile reasons. Then I'd love to see them performing close-sharp sorties one of those days, like the one in 0:08.
