Not all the time duh... CC can be very distracting at times, especially if its your first time using it... If they like the music they can always invest time in understanding what the lyrics is about cause that adds a new layer to the experience. CC is not the most important thing in BTS MV..

I’m also a hip hop, r&b, rap, rock fan mostly. The song that sucked me in was UGH!. Saw it on a Twitter fancam and thought it was the NASTIEST beat I’d heard in awhile. Literally had it on repeat for days. I suggest you check out the song w/ lyrics and then watch DKDKTV’s UGH explained by a Korean. They do an amazing job of adding extra cultural context to the songs to help understand what they’re really saying. Welcome to ARMY, and enjoy the journey! I became a fan back in June in the middle of quarantine and am so grateful. Their music is so varied and authentic.

I think it’s better to start with the MV. I never put the lyrics on for my first watch of a new MV, i prefer to feel the song, the music, the images, it’s already a lot to receive. Then I put captions for the lyrics for the following watches ☺️

People keep forgetting about the hip hop/rap masterpieces that the rapline produced in their early, pure hip hop days. In my opinion those are some of the absolute best, even compared to their newer works.
Rap Monster's Joke and Do You. AgustD's song of the same name AgustD - absolute fire. And Cypher 1-4 sang by all 3 rappers of BTS. Most new Armys actually don't know about these, which is absolute shame :/

RM’s “you Do”, “Joke”,and” Mono” I think you would like them,
Genres that BTS use: r&b, edm, neo-soul, hip hop, etc. I came into BTS liking 2 songs, then I really liked another 3 songs, and then I don’t know what happened but every single song is now the genre I listen to. Come in to exploring with an open mind. I have never been able to trust any artist 100%, but BTS is different from any group/artist you’ve listened to; not only should you trust them, but you’ll end up fighting for them.
The lyrics are poetry with one or two meanings on the surface and then as you go deeper you find out there are more layers of meanings. Instead of writing songs to anonymous people, they write their songs to each other and to army and the lyrics are about relevant things, whether it’s a diss song for haters or talking about being in a relationship (dating/parents/teachers/bosses/etc) that just isn’t worth it.
The MVs are always incredible, the dance practices are a must! I suggest Danger as a good one to start with. From their debut in 2013, they have been serious artists- there isn’t “improvement” they just keep outdoing themselves. Their entire discography is sacred to me, it just depends on what playlist to put the songs on.

Make sure you put captions on or check out the lyrics somehow because these 3 guys are lyrical geniuses (there’s even a guy on RUclips who explains the wordplay/references they make in their songs, he does a great job while also adding in his own theories about the meaning). The songs by the rap line are among my favorite tracks by BTS and I know you’ll like them

i still remember when i have been trying to have one of my friends watch any BTS content, i would use her phone to watch it so her feeds will eventually show BTS contents on it's own but she's still not convinced until BTS dropped the MV for Mic Drop and i of course made her watch and now she's a full on ARMY ..

Yes, their 2017 Cypher Medley is one of the BEST live stages I've EVER seen from any performer - up there with Freddie Mercury and Queen at Wembley. @TyreikDaGr8 - don't miss out on this one, it is one of the rap line's most iconic performances and an ARMY rite of passage.
for the longest time, my daughter has been playing BTS before me but I just had too much going on until I finally sat down on Dynamite's first into the month out, and YES! they can grow organically on you. first the visuals because they look amazing with their moves and wholesomeness...and then the inimitable world-class talent that is now legendary...who can ever argue with how they are breaking records? and first, i'm just a passive watcher, but now I dabble in commenting bc they are also an awesome experience to share with interesting peoples...I HEAR YOU!!!
Bts honestly has TONS of rap content including 5 rap Mixtapes and lots of songs from their main albums. one of my favs is called "All Night by two members from the rap line feat. Juice Wrld. Love your reactions!!
War of Hormone is one of their earliest songs. For me, RM's rap on this MV is my absolute favorite. And it's the first rap (that I know of) for Jungkook. Very catchy.

honestly kpop industry put a lot of effort in entertainment, example, huge kpop groups rn like bts and blackpink trained strictly(dancing,singing,rap,produce,write lyrics) for years before debuting, not just them, even solo singers or even actors and actresses, entertainment industry is taken very seriously in korea, thats why they make bangers, have huge fandom and amazing humble personalities
I recommend watching the rappers' solo stuff! Jhope's (main dancer and rapper) "Chicken Noodle Soup" (Remake of the 2006 song), "Daydream", "Airplane"; Suga's (rapper) "Daechwita", RM's (leader and rapper) "Joke". And the 3 of them had a song together called "Ddaeng". These are more hiphop oriented songs. And the thing is, their lyrics have LAYERS and lots of meaning. It's not even easy to appreciate during a single MV viewing.
I recommend reading lyrics first (translations are always available with songs lyrics) and just focusing on the visuals + vocals + music when you watch the MVs. Speaking as someone with a TV/digital media production background.
Bts has a lot of songs in different genres (not just KPOP) bc they can somehow just pull everything off and it looks and sounds good. Kpop is known for their high standarts in visualizing that's why eveeeeeery kpop music video is so satisfying to watch. You have to see some live performances bc their fan base (army) is sooo big and we have lighsticks we bring to concerts and fanchants which looks soooo cool at concerts sadly not in this time during corona. I see everyone is recommending Daechwita in the comments and now I'm excited to see your reaction to it cuz man that song is my favorite rap song of BTS (and I don't particularly like rap so yeah), in the very instant the beat dropped I jumped out of my chair. That's how good it is.
