I think Suga gets more attention as of late because he's been mostly absent for the past 2 months while recovering from shoulder surgery. Suga is great, don't get me wrong. (He's my favorite~) I just think people just wanna bring him up more cuz they miss him.
RM was made leader because he was the first member of BTS so he had experience the longest. Him being intelligent and good at speaking did help though hehe.
V's real name is Kim Taehyung so many people usually refer to him as Tae

The reason you don’t hear that much about RM is because his style is more old school. His style has also been compared to Nas or Lupe Fiasco. He’s less reliant on hooks and more reliant on lyrics and delivery. Interestingly, Warren G said RM reminded him of Snoop Dogg.
RM and the other rapper J-Hope haven’t had a mixtape out recently, but SUGA/Agust D released one this year, so he’s more “current”. They all have different styles and flows. They have solo projects and they sometimes come together as the rap line (without the vocalists) for strictly hip-hop tracks like UGH, Ddaeng, and Cyphers 1-4. If RM is your bias, then I recommend Joke, Do You or Change or this one

Btw, Jungkook literally joined BTS because he was inspired by RM. Many other, more successful companies wanted JK to join them but he chose the small company BigHit because of RM.

From an outside perspective I actually think Jimin, V and Jungkook are the most popular, or atleast the most "talked about". I believe the people in your comments mentioned Suga knowing you're into hip hop :) AND cause of his shoulder injury (he hasn't been able to be in recent performances). I'd say Suga isn't the MOST talked about overall (p.s. this isn't an insult he's literally my bias 😂)
I agree. Suga isn't really the most popular. Vocal line particularly the Maknae line are the most popular. It is because everyone misses Suga. He is my bias too. Lol
I think maknae line is most popular bc while older fans keep groups afloat (since we are the ones with money) its more common to have a younger fan

RM is the best leader, I absolutely adore him. His lyricism is poetry, he's so intelligent, so kind, so endearing, and so cool. There's a side of him that's very introspective, a side that's very ambitious and a side that's very innocent. He has the ability to keep people motivated, to bring people together, to give people courage, to comfort others... He's truly inspirational. And he's a fantastic artist too, of course.
9:00 I'll try to explain this. So Jin was planning to become a salary-man just like his father but later formed a dream to become an actor. Face plays a big role in casting and I don't think you know this but a lot of idols are first scouted or seen because of their faces just like Jin of course they'll have to have the potential of a singer in order to be casted as a trainee but it is very normal and many other idols have a past of being scouted on the streets. Since then Jin's dream was to become a singer and he has worked hard for it thanks to his effort he sings as good as the other members and bts will only continue to improve. ps.there's no "best" singer or rapper in bts they all have different techniques when it comes to their singing and they're all very stable, i'm not sure why they highlighted jk as the most stable member when in fact they all are. It's impossible not to be when they've been doing this for over 10 years

When JK joined BTS he was 15 in Korean age, when Koreans are born they’re born as a year old so in international age JK was 14 when he joined.
No jungkook was 15 internationally and 16 in Korea, because in the birthday prank he says he turned 17 which he turned 16 internationally, and he is born in September of 2013 doing the math he was turning 16 that year, but they debuted in June it means he was still 15.
When JK "joined" BTS means when he signed onto BigHit and became a trainee, which was around July 2011. His birthday is Sept 1997, so that means JK was still *13 years old international age.* 💜

Cute fact: Their interviews are the least scripted. They act naturally. They are often described as energetic puppies. They really don't care to put on a dog and pony show for interviewers. Their naturalness captivates the audience.

I'm going to say it again, I think at 31 minutes that video by Asian Theory is a bit of *information-overload for newbies,* and is more for someone further along the BTS journey. Especially the second half about all the album and song wins is really waaay too much. It also spoils the reactions to songs and the evolution styles and concepts. I see reactors with eyes glazed over.
I think the Crash Course video by Suga&Spice gives a much better, more digestible and inspirational overview without spoiling too much. 💜
*I HAVE TO DISAGREE.* I see so many people recommending "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On" and I think now is NOT the time. At a fast-paced 31 minutes, that video is a bit of *information-overload for newbies,* and is more for someone further along the BTS journey. The worst crime is it takes a lot of fun out of organically discovering the discography and evolution of BTS concepts and style choices imo, not that most new fans will retain ANY OF THAT VIDEO'S INFO. Especially the second half about all the album and song wins is really too much. I swear reactors' eyes are glazed over by the end.

I get where you’re coming about it being fast paced but I actually disagree. New fans don’t necessarily need to retain e v e r y t h i n g in the video. Especially the first half of the video is really great and then it kinda fast forwards through their musical journey .... I don’t think it spoils the discovery because to me it’s like “Oh what is that song? I want to listen to that one!” I say this as an 2015 ARMY who jumped into BTS all sorts of out of order and just clicking every video with BTS in the title.
@besalasestrellas I think it DEFINITELY spoils many of the music videos because the clips are long, and that is BAD if you are a reaction channel. Too much visual info will taint a reactor's first impression and ruin any SHOCK value to be had. For me as a viewer, that takes away the fun of watching new reactors discovering BTS.
This Asian Theory video, like the WAB:Eternal mv, have better impact when someone is deeper into the journey.

RM is the leader it's not because he's good in speaking in English it's because he can be a good leader he has a potential and he makes the team stay united, maybe it's only one of the factor that he became a leader coz he's good in English but the main reason is he has a good leadership and being a leader in a group is someone who is capable to manage the group

I loved your words at the end, I love when others can see how genuine BTS are and they have kept this genuineness throughout their being. They touch subjects that are needed in society where other groups are singing about broken hearts, girls, money and so on.

This is the the effect BTS have on so many, they teach, we learn, we teach. They are not only creators of music and lyrics that move the world but they have the hearts that mean it too. Namjoon (RM) became the leader before BTS even debuted, and BTS started to get big in the US only 3-4 years after their debut, so it's not bc of him speaking english. it's bc of his character, you will learn more about him and understand that he has perfect leader qualities not only for the group but in general. i think you might have heard about Yoongi (SUGA) more bc now he is absent (bc of his surgery) and ARMYs don't want people to think that there're only 6 members, so we make sure to mention that there's a "missing" memeber).
Also about what should you watch next, i think there're pretty a lot of recs here already so i won't overwhelm you, but i really think it's better to start with checking out more of their group stuff and after you know them a bit more try to see their solo stuff too. their solo music is very personal so you might not understand it right away
Through your BTS journey you will begin to see why RM is the leader of BTS. He possesses many qualities of a good leader - Patience, intelligent, cares for his members, teacher, mentor with an IQ of 148. BTS was built around RM - he was the first member of BTS. Suga was the second member. J-Hope is the third and the dance leader.
This video is a little outdated, but a good introduction to BTS nonetheless. They've achieved much more today.
And I'm glad RM catches your eye! He was the man who got me into BTS too! I recommend some of his solo songs (you don't need to worry about copyright since their label "BigHit" sees reaction vids as promo):

when you get to know bts istg all you will know is crackhead energy. they are very chaotic
we love all 7 members equally but the reason why you don't see much people talking about the vocalists is probably because we thought you'd like more rap music, so we've been pushing the rappers a lot more. but please do check out all of the members' solo stuff to know more about what they can do.
we've got 3 rappers, where RM used to have really aggressive and fast flow (listen to his 1st mixtape, "RM" for reference) which has mellowed down since and he incorporates a lot of melodic rap and well-paced flow (listen to his 2nd mixtape, "mono" for reference). SUGA has hands-down the best flow in the industry imo. he has a wide spectrum when it comes to rap delivery and flow. he changes it up every so often, i get blown away every single time (you can listen to his mixtapes, "AGUST D" and "D-2" to know more). J-HOPE has a generally hype flow and you can always trust him to bring the energy up in a song. he's also a great sub-vocalist and does a lot of soft, melodic raps that sets the mood for ballads (listen to his mixtape "HOPE WORLD").
as for the 4 vocalists, V has a deep, dark, caramel voice that's just perfect for soulful, moody songs (listen to his solos "SINGULARITY" and "STIGMA"). JIMIN has an airy, angelic voice that always floats on top of the beat, hauntingly melodic to listen to. he's in charge of most high notes, along with JIN (listen to his solos "FILTER" and "PROMISE"). JIN is a powerhouse vocalist who was also named "silver voice" by the recording academy. he also does high notes and is impressive at belts. he's always the choice for emotional ballads, if you're ever in the mood for that (listen to "EPIPHANY" and "AWAKE"). JUNGKOOK is the all-rounder, like shown in the video and has one of the stablest voices in the industry! he's known to show solid live vocals while performing those strenous choreographies that they're known to have, which is why he's the main vocalist. he's also great at R&B! (listen to "STILL WITH YOU" and "MY TIME").
if you didn't catch it, the members were actually shown according to their age, except RM (namjoon). so listing from the eldest to the youngest; JIN (seokjin), SUGA (yoongi), J-HOPE (hoseok), RM (namjoon), JIMIN, V (taehyung), JUNGKOOK. also some of the things mentioned in this video are quite dated, since this was made in 2018, but i hope you learn more about the boys as we go along this journey!
it truly is impressive that RM can speak english like a native american when he learned all that through a tv show! if anything's proof of his 148 IQ, this will be it!

I started this journey this year as well. RM was the first member of the group. Look up Bang Sihyuk the CEO of Big Hit Entertainment, the BTS music company. He is the person who came up with the concept of BTS. It seems that building BTS was a work in progress, right time, right place, and a real puzzle of a journey. So much content out there on these 7 members and I can say that they are quite infectious. Appreciated by all age groups.

You never heard about V, then let me tell you, V won "THE MOST HANDSOME MAN IN THE WORLD" in 2017 and 2020, V is second to the youngest, V's full name is "KIM TAEHYUNG" V has a Royal blood, he comes from a "Kim clan" same with Jin and Suga, Suga comes from "Min clan", V was also a poor little kid and his father is a farmer before, V raised by his grandmother who passed away in 2017, he is a singer, songwriter, dancer and Actor, V is his stage name which stands for VICTORY, he is also known as CGV and The wind prince because of his Handsome face, he is also known as "GUCCI KING" because he used to dress gucci clothes, and according to his bandmates, RM said he is the most innocent one out of all the members and they think that after RM he is the next genius,He may not be as extroverted as JHOPE but he's fun-loving, outgoing, and ofcourse a talented performer,.............................

RM legit has an American accent from listening to friends and it's awesome! RM and Suga have been living together for 10 years already and as the rest of the gruop joined they added to the dorm. The more you learn abt them they will tell you how they are a family and feel incomplete when they are missing 1 member. Suga has been missing for almost 2 months now, due to shoulder surgery, so that is prob why you keep hearing abt him more since they keep talking abt him not being there as well. Their music is fantastic but there is so much more to them so it's good you started to get to know them a bit better for the rest of your journey! 💜

For all the members, they have so many nicknames. You may not have heard of V because we call him Tae (real name: Kim Taehyung). See below for most common nicknames:

So RM was actually part of the original line up back when the CEO decided to make a hip hop group. However , when it changed to a kpop group, many of them left leaving RM as the original member so he became leader. He’s also the reason why this whole movement started. The CEO was impressed with RM’s passion, talent, and understanding of his music so he wanted to debut RM. If you get to know more about him, you can see how his rap was shaped by a lot of old school rappers. He tends to really focus on the lyrics and doesn’t really venture into the rap that is being used right now which is what Suga and Jhope sort of do. Which is why the rapline complements but is also very different from each other. RM also has a unique perspective on things that helps him go through life and just his passion and work ethic are out of this world. So even if you don’t hear about him as often, he’s still there shining brightly !

this is one of the reason why world accapted bts, bc they are real, they dont play group, they really are what they seem on camera and this was rare in kpop when bts blew up and now whole industry is trying to follow their steps

This video lays a good foundation, but it is a little bit outdated in some aspects, so this is a lil update, and also a few clarifications:
- RM is the leader because he was the first confirmed member in the group. Age is very important in Korea in regards of power dynamics within a group of people, so this is notable because there are two other members (Jin and Suga) who are older than him. He has released two mixtaped so far, RM and mono. Also sidenote, his studio is now called RKive.
- Jin has since switched to the piano as his hobby. He has released two solo songs (This Night and Abyss), and has had two more solos on official BTS albums. He is an incredibly hard worker (the members once recalled how he would always practice choreography in his hotel room on his own after a long day of schedules), and is now well known and adored for his "silver voice".

- j-hope has released one solo song in addition to his mixtape (Hope World) so far, Chicken Noodle Soup feat. Becky G.
- Jimin used to struggle a lot with body image issues and perfectionism. However, he is doing well these days, and confident in his abilities. He has released two solo songs so far, Promise and Christmas Love.
- V has released several solo songs so far, 4 O'Clock, It's Definitely You feat. Jin, Scenery, Winter Bear and Sweet Night. We are anticipating the release of his first solo mixtape, which we may just get before this year is over :)

V is next to youngest in BTS. He is a real good R& B vocalist. He has a deep voice but big vocal range. He was 2018 or 19..most handsome face of the year.

That dude is a genius producer and a great rapper who of course write/produce/compose his own songs. Mostly talks about Suga too because he recently had shoulder injury and wasn't in the recent performances of BTS... Everyone misses him so he is talked a lot these days. But he isn't the most popular member. It is V, Jimin and Jungkook I would say that are the most popular. And yeah, RM is the leader (the best). He is the first member of BTS. Suga is the second member. 💛
