Just a heads up i see a lot of comments questioning the picture in picture format, i had to do this so RUclips didnt flag it and take it down. I had posted it a few years ago and it got pulled. Thanks :)

Just as long as you don't crop his performance or his personality.
If folks want a bigger picture then they can watch it on a large screen in their living rooms.

I was fortunate enough to meet the mighty Marty Robbins about forty years ago in Hampton Virginia. I was a young reporter backstage at a concert where Billy "Crash" Craddock was the main attraction. Marty was one of the warm up acts, and was sitting alone in a beat-up old makeup room. He was a quiet man, but made time to speak with me. And then, about twenty minutes later he took the stage and it was like someone had hooked the man up to electrical current. He came alive -- performing songs that literally brought the crowd to its feet. What a treat to see such a magnificent songwriter, musician and performer. Crash Craddock, by the way, couldn't hold a candle to the great Marty Robbins. Watching this brought back many good memories of meeting a man who was the genuine article and truly great artist.

Epic video. I barely remember seeing Marty on the TV as a kid (some variety show I'd imagine) I remember him being somewhat.... flamboyant but, by cracky , I now question the man's inclinations. He was a cool cat with a bunch of great Nashville cats.

As far as I am concerned he is the most interesting singer and fun to watch ever its just sad that we have lost a very talented man his name will never be forgotten and his music will live on

He was named the 1960s Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music. Been gone since '82, just broke us up back then hearing he did not recover w/the heart operation. --- Him doing this super concert, enjoying life to its fullest, (I'll have what he has been having) being silly at times, burning the last ounce of fat in which he shouldn't spare to help fill that suit. --- Back in the day when he broke out "El Paso" , I couldn't play it often enough, I was having my first serious Hi-Sch love affair. Navy Vet of WWII in the S. Pacific. Thanks Marty, for the mems. 031623.

We went to the Grand Ol Opry many times back in the '70s and '80s, but one of my big regrets is that we never got to see Marty live at the Opry. My dad loved him and his music. Marty was a wonderful singer and a fantastic entertainer. Unfortunately, he passed way too early. I'm grateful that there are videos like this to help us remember how talented he was.

I will always remember watching him on a PBS special, and he wouldn't leave the stage. He just laughed at them and kept playing and singing. He was an awesome entertainer. RIP Marty Robbins.

Marty Robbins is my all time favorite country music singer. He was not only a great singer but a great entertainer! He could be so funny! I loved him as a NASCAR driver! He would leave his concerts and get to the track in time to finish the race! Someone ask him one time how did it feel driving on that track with those fast cars! He said he got in line and fell behind the slowest car out there and rode the race to the end! That was a smart move! I admire his name, my name is also Marty! I loved watching him and Merl Haggard interact. They were so funny and could really sing together! I was saddened when he died…he died on my birthday Dec. 2 nd. There will never be anyone else like him! He was the greatest!

I heard Him for the first time in 1980 (It was "El Paso" - then in communist Poland!) and he remains in my heart to this day -
as a fantastic showman and a great country music performer!
It's a pity that he delighted us with his great talent for such a short time! ...

This man has been a part of my life for 60 plus years. I'm 66 now. I vividly remember my Mother playing records of Marty when I was just a toddler. Her one and only favorite singer. And the one chance she got to see Marty perform in Yakima Washington in '81 or '82. Both Mom and Dad were country music die hards. I will forever cherish the influence by my parents for their love of the best classic country music.
