  • Natasha Clark takes you through an eventful first full week of the election campaign.
Sir Keir Starmer started things off carefully before seemingly throwing caution to the wind and overseeing the deselection of several left-wing Labour members.
Rishi Sunak memorably began the campaign drenched in rain. After getting dried off, he made a series of policy announcements aimed at winning over older voters. But will this come at the expense of younger votes?
In true Lib Dem style, Sir Ed Davey embarked on a series of eye-catching photo opportunities - from paddleboarding to baking. And Richard Tice and Reform UK did their best to position it all as an 'immigration election.'
00:22 The Diane Abbott saga rumbles on
01:32 Rishi Sunak proposes National Service for 18-year-olds.
04:40 Lib Dems make a splash with unconventional campaign
05:09 Reform UK claim the election will be 'all about immigration.'

Conservatives are telling young people they need to mix with different types of people. Young people should tell Sunak to make some working class friends.

It's incredible edible hearing a conservative MP claiming the country is divided. It is so clearly caused by them that it feels like that was the "plan" they keep on talking about.

He never names these people, or proves any of it is true. It's the only thing he ever says. "I know lots of people who... bla bla bla" Total bs.

Most of the arguments being given relate to behavioural issues of the under 18s, so presumably the benefits from National Service at 18 will as a consequence be rather limited, that is of course assuming that there is any merit in the idea.
Should the theory be correct, surely it would be better to integrate it into the school curriculum at a much younger age, and over a longer period.
