I just bought this exact watch second hand in excellent condition. My experience is that in spite of its size it is very wearable even for a regular wrist and very comfortable, especially on the factory rubber strap (I also have the bracelet). The design and the shape are great and I love all the colors of dial and hands. Really eye catching. It has not been too hard to initialize. The chrono works ok but I do not use it. The world time function is very easy to adjust. However I do have some complains: It took 2 weeks of direct sun light to charge the battery to high level… The 24h dial is too small and often hidden by the main hands and cannot be read all the time. The date aperture is so small and recessed that you can hardly read it. Finally the alarm is so weak that I will never use it. I can tell it’s a true Seiko and not a copy as the worldtime rings of the bezel are misaligned. My overall feeling is that it is a beautiful model which will unfortunately not fulfill all its features. I will wear it to travel as it has the world time complication, seems built to endure anything and is wr to 10 atm. A beautiful do it all sport watch I enjoy wearing and looking at.

I just bought this watch and I agree the watch way superior to the bracelet. I really like the navy strap on the deployant clasp it looks much more in keeping with the watch. I’m disappointed that the instruction manual is so hard to understand. I’ve been selling watches for 25 years from Timex to Patek but this is hard. I’m Pleased I found your channel, all the best, Jim

Can you instruct me to use the chronograph? When choosing the mode chronograph, do the first and second hand of the little case at the 6h angle of big case move to 0(12h angle)? When I choose the chronograph, these two hands move randomly, and I'm not sure if it is the manufacture error? My model is seiko ssc508
Yes when you click on chronograph start the hands in the bottom dial should both move to 24. Then they should show how much time has passed in hours and minutes since the chronograph was started.
Hello again, I'm in the market for such a watch but one more question, couldn't a crocodile style strap in the same kind of blue give a more "gentry" style of this beautyfull watch ? And by teh way, I hesitate between your watch and for instance, this watch : What would be the point of view of the youtubers ?... hello friends I need help .. I recently bought this Seiko ssc489 solar prospex watch, its movement in V195 the same as in this video. I have charged it for more than 3 days several hours a day and the charge or power indicator does not go up. My question is is it normal? is this watch damaged ??
if the watch ticks and performs its functions correctly. and if it has been exposed to sunlight for several days. only that the indicated one does not show its full charge and does not rise from the minimum. friend is this normal?
I neglected mine in a drawer. Took around 2 weeks to get it from mid-charged to fully charged, when I placed it by the window 24x7. But during the time it was mid-charged, it never lost time.

I have never seen mine go down, its pretty much stays charged, maybe because I have it in a glass case.

I tried crocodile but I did not like how it looked, I think the smooth Breitling type strap like I have is nicer.

Does the watch keep time? the indicator should go up. Did you have it in direct sunlight?

Good question.. it depends how sunny it is. but I would say at least couple hrs in full sun.
Why don’t you read the manual?
