Let's face it bro.... People just like your videos. You go back and do reviews on old ships you've already done and everyone will still come back for more. Keep up the great work!
the oddysey is something I'm very much looking forward to, the VTOL engine solution there is very simple and should hopefully be retrospectively applied to the Freelancer imo
Imagine it: A few MOLEs and an Expanse or two, with a Hercules and Caterpillar taking turns being loaded/unloaded, and ferrying people who wanna log off/people who just joined back and forth to the mining op. *All ripe for piracy and trolling.* _Except_ for the Constellation Aquila keeping long-range sensor watch along with its snub and some Furies unloaded from the cargo ship... and a fully-crewed Hammerhead waiting to Quantum in a few thousand KM away. Now imagine the Odyssey doing it all in one ship, if on a smaller scale, out in procedurally generated systems.
I love the design of the Nautilus. It reminds me of space shuttles with a mix of the Space Cargo Shuttle of Avatar (James Cameron). I believe that some older design ships lore wise could have their fame among the Star Citizen playerbase. I know i would. Though mine wouldn't be my style, more into hauling or support for a group of people.
Hearing about the progress of the Polaris as the foundation for the RSI line of ship interiors, I am interested in hearing a speculative video of it, the Perseus and the Galaxy. Thanx 4 the enjoyable vids .
Ok, some stuff you might not have found or considered: In the Q&A CIG stated that the refinery on the Odyssey will only be able to refine quantanium to extend the ship's range and is unlikely to be able to offload mined ores to other ships. The Pioneer will not only be able to build outposts, it will be able to construct specific types of buildings. Habs, mining, refinery, storage/cargo, commerci8al sales, possibly even factory and defense turrets. The Hull-E actually carries less cargo than a current day supercontainer ship. And possible will have the option to carry docking/hangar pods for small ships, or defensive gun and missile pods in place of cargo. serviceable
Also many of the former Perry Line systems in-lore are described as being 'heavily mined.' This opens up a possible revenue stream for a Nautilus owner. Come into such a system, sweep up old but still serviceable mines, and either sell them off or keep them for your own purposes.
Once again Farrister, top notch!! I'm a tad bit depressed to keep seeing these ships still not in the verse but I get why. Once things get to a point where we can utilize a few of these ships the better. Maybe they'll sneak in the Odyssey or the Expanse.... ;) THanks again buds and keep them coming..
From the hull E concept art, you can see that it's designed to hold 512 scu of cargo, which to me (a noob) seems disappointingly little for a super massive cargo oriented ship, that is intended for only cargo and might need special docking facilities. One module = 2 x 4 x 4 scu = 32 scu 4 modules in a row. 4 rows. = 4x4 = 16 modules 32 x 16 = 512 scu
I wouldn't go by the concept art, it's very old. Will need to wait until the thing is properly concepted/early modelled to find out true capacity, I think
I bought the concept Expanse, but haven’t really done any mining since 3.16 (prospector loaner), but with ship tractors activating in 3.20 and swappable ore bags now in game, we may see the Expanse by 4.0. With the Hull-C launching this year, CIG will have the MISC style assets done, so this might mean the Expanse/Odyssey are next for production. With the last ISC stating that the Polaris is in pre-production and that they’ll work on RSI cap ships like the Galaxy and Perseus after Polaris (though the Orion wasn’t mentioned.. and neither was the Pegasus) I think we’ll finally see the Apollo (which I’m really looking forwards to), and maybe a Connie rework.
I know those in-production big 100m+ ships are, at the moment, mostly just promises but I do aim to possess one with real money. I'm just waiting for the "right" one that really makes me want it. I'm hoping to get the "mobile headquarters" vibe that I got from a few ships like the Cyclopse from Subnautica and the Argo from Godzilla: King of Monsters. The RSI Galaxy announced last year IAE and the Carrack are very close, but still not quite there. Fingers crossed for this year's IAE's big ship announcement. The Hull-E's cargo capacity is just mind-blowing. I look forward to when Star Citizen reaches the stage where the in-game economy has actually developed for those ships to be cruising around, and maybe I'd like a spot escorting or even operating inside one.
Cool ships. On the pioneer imagine if a small org builds a little plot of a base, then a rival big org that hates them buys all around them. Builds all a round them with anti air and mines trapping them lol
@@Farrister I agree, first time i saw the ship showcased it felt more like something i could enjoy flying or crewing, I'm not as much a fan of the Carrack though but the Odyssey seemed to jump out at me :)
while I think the Odyssey suffers from the slight power creep that all cig's new ships tend to, it's ugly as sin and therefor not a carrack killer, even with the carrack's mutilated final form lol
Friend or foe smart mines will have a tridimensional sphere of influence so that kills your argument about area denial mine layering not working in space...other then that for most I agree with your observations, your choice of ships to review was great and the video was interesting!
But surely the fact that there are 3 dimensions of movement makes it easier to avoid going into that sphere of influence? So more mines are needed to cover a cubic volume versus a square area
@@Farrister yes of course, you will have to use some more but how many more is up to the size of the mine activation sphere they will agree upon... and for that, there is trial and error, along with some tweaking for a balanced gameplay.
Im so happy that with the Hull C coming we will have the opportunity to lose months upon months of progress at one time due to loosing cargo from a bug.
I’m looking forward to RSI Galaxy, CO Pioneer, and Hull E. The Nautilus will probably be last to be released because its gameplay is too narrow. The only rationale for getting the Nautilus flyable sooner is if CIG creates a new variant model for a more common role. As for the Expanse, considering the frequency of 30k’s since 3.19 released, operating the Expanse will be a fool’s errand. Currently, many miners, traders, salvagers, and even box runners say that they can’t do their preferred gameplay loops because of the frequency of 30k’s. If the Expanse was in the PU right now, it would be crazy to operate it because the odds of a 30k happening in the middle of a refining job are too great; it would never finish before a 30k happened and all of the refined and unrefined ore in the Expanse would presumably be lost, because 30k recovery isn’t working either. I predicted that this would be an issue back during the Expanse’s concept sale - although, at the time, updates had rendered 30k’s rare and 30k recovery was working. Now 30k’s have returned with a vengeance. I did the math and the loss of ONE full Expanse will be greater than the refinery costs of over a hundred Prospector loads using Dinyx Solventation (which virtually every “pro” miner chooses), which wipes out the supposed cost savings the Expanse provides. Even if the Expanse’s refining time is a fraction of a station’s, if a group of miners are using an Expanse during a multi-hour play session, the odds are probably worse than 50/50 that a 30k will happen and they’ll lose everything. It’s much smarter to fly the mined ore to a refinery station where it’s safe. Now that tractor beams have been improved and it’s possible to offload mining saddlebags, a hauler can unload a Prospector or MOLE and fly the mined ore to a station - I said that would be the safest method, which rendered the Expanse UNNECESSARY! But selling concept ships is CIG’s business. I express these concerns as an Expanse OWNER. TBH I only bought the Expanse as part of an LTI ship bundle because I actually wanted the Prospector, Freelancer MAX, and Drake Vulture with LTI. The Expanse is a glorified LTI token - especially since I bought the RSI Galaxy Complete pack. Refinery ships just aren’t viable until the PU servers are rock solid stable - or cargo insurance becomes a thing.
@@Farrister yes 3.20 im really hoping for but no expecting hullB to be surprise release..has been off tracker for so long and last comment was its done just waiting on other tech cargo refactor etc.
The Expanse is a very cool little ship but the single size 1 shield on it makes it a no go. Yes, there is a rework with emitters and probably won't stay as it is but that's a very thin protection for a ship that large and unmaneuverable. At least until we know better. Odyssey and Nautilus suffer from offensive weapons loadout on ships that probably should have more defensive one with smaller turrets all around.
Definitely, it's not a ship that's supposed to be in combat. But like some people tend to remind us Star Citizen is a game with combat and you can't guarantee you'll be safe no matter what you do. It's a ship that spends a lot of time in the less travelled parts of the space and might need to go through jump points so there's plenty of opportunities to get in trouble. Little shield means you can't rely on escorts and the vulnerable external pods means it''s easy to disable the primary function and force the ship to turn back for repairs.
I don’t know if I like dogfighting, mining, or trading in the game, but I have had fun doing medical and exploration when it works well. With other games the pioneer might make destructible buildings that can be taken down. Personally from Planetside 2 that’s not something I enjoy. The Hull B is definitely my most anticipated concept, if anything it fills that large void of dedicated cargo haulers between the Taurus (174) and M2 (522).
People have to stop comparing Odyssey to Carrack. Odyssey isn’t the same size as the Carrack so this doesn’t explain the lack of drones in its current interaction. It’s just not a Carrack do it doesn’t have drones. Carrack isn’t an Odyssey so it doesn’t have mining and refining. Much like an Hull C will not have drones OR a refinery..
@@Farrister Yeah I know. I’m not criticising your content what so ever, Ilm an avid watcher. It definitely wasn’t CIGs greatest moment when they told us nothing about the ships actual purpose, rather just saying it’s a Carrack killer. I just wish they would list a ships exact purpose. Waiting for my Endeavor.......
Waiting patiently, for many years
Dear Farrister! what's your Org ???
United Space Confederation: geni.us/TB04zR
Actually 🛀
It's too stressful having to dodge your ship

@@Farrister
Pioneer is an exciting concept but it does feel a long way off
I reckon it'll be one of the last ships done :(
@Farrister gives an idea of what is coming in the far far future though
SHIPS! YES! o7 😎👍
Yes!
Still waiting for news on the RSU Orion
Me too :(
Do any of these ships have cloaking abilities?
No, or at least, no discussion of it
15 years from now these ships *may* be done.
That’s fine with me.
I just play,test,report bugs,and enjoy what’s there and I have a lot of ships.
Have a life as well.
I shudder to think!

No one wants a nautilus though…
A pirate or griefer would.
Other players will follow.
They seem quite popular!
Never understood all the emotions over these.
They are two very different ships to me.
It was the original statements from CIG lol
@@Farrister Yeah I know. I’m not criticising your content what so ever, Ilm an avid watcher.
It definitely wasn’t CIGs greatest moment when they told us nothing about the ships actual purpose, rather just saying it’s a Carrack killer.
I just wish they would list a ships exact purpose. There are so many ships and we don’t know what they will actually do, particularly in regards to scanning and exploration.
C'mon stop with the click-bait, your about the 5th squark who's used this bait title, i know the concepts a train wreck, but there must be some concept mechanic worth a mention...actually there isn't, there all a broken mess.
I'm just responding to my audience who asked to see more videos like this, not trying to bait anybody.
The expanse is the only one on this list that will ever exist lol
:(
Any chance you can give some opinion on the galaxy????!!!
