I would give it the ability to process pretty much everything, but in limited quantities like you said. As well as a small compliment of of drones that primarily construction focused. The concept being that this is an explorer. Finding new systems/planets. One of the most basic ways of staking a claim to these new finds is a permanent structure built on the surface. I have wanted the Carrack for some time, slowly building a CCU chain toward one... But this has me thinking an Odyssey might be the better choice! Selling all the data on found mining spots for larger ventures with Orions, and plotting new jump points in the larger verse! You make some good arguments, and have me rethinking some of my fleet. This ship has always been valuable beyond price for someone who wants to stay in protected systems. Pvp with this ship would be somewhat impossible with its moduals. You will be too slow and big to turn on ships to fire 9/10 if you have the money. The only reason it is because I own a Galaxy with moduals and I enjoy PvP
Love the channel, man. A lot of interesting takes and info for the game. The Odyssey is not something I see pledging for, strikes me as more of an org ship. They can say it's soloable, but I'm gonna take that with a huge chunk of salt, especially when engineering releases. There are far smaller ships that would be a pain to try to run around and repair while flying solo, let alone something this big. The range and theoretically never having to refuel is a hell of a feature, but I'm not sure there will be enough systems to really justify it. Guess it depends on how big each system is or if they add in binary or other multi-solar systems.
The idea of this ship is neat, can't wait to see CIG put it into production and see what needs to be changed to fit the systems that have been released since it's announcement. I'm very curious to see the actual inside of that massively wide cockpit too tbh. As far as ships with hangars go, for my needs they'd have to fit a Vulture or Prospector. That said, while soloing a ship like this is probably possible, you'd better hope you don't get into any actual trouble.
My take for an industrial play was to pack the Prospector and Expance. Use the Odyssey to crack the large rocks and extract the fuel. Prospector extracts the rest and sends to the Expance for refining. When done, squeeze both ships in the hangar, and the refined goods in Odyssey storage.
I never thought about this ship but great video brother. I’m actually thinking this would be a great ship to have when we can build homesteads planet side.
I love this ship and its on my alternate list for big ships if the Polaris doesn't end up staying in my hangar. Totally agree with the mining. It feels like it was a cool idea on paper but makes no sense from a gameplay perspective lol. I'm sure it will be addressed whenever it makes it into production but I do hope they just make it able to mine anything but gets the bonus of refueling itself
I've been playing games solo for so long (even several MMOs, where I just join random groups for group content) it never really occurs to me that I might one day want a ship so large I would've even be able to properly operate it solo. It's hard for me to conceive the scale of these things, too, because the artwork makes it look kinda small. I think CIG should put out a promotional video for each ship that's a quick walk/fly-around, or even just a sprint down one side of the thing while it's in a hangar, and while I'm being greedy I'd like them to include a quick run from whatever entrance most pilots would use to the bridge. Just really show off the scale of these ships, you know?
They said it can refuel what you have in the hanger and bay that is why people were seeing if the volkan could fit and found out with present sizes the antenna at the front would need to be removed that would give it the rearm/repair and refuel capacity.😮

A fourth use would be mixed small and medium outpost trading, where a small hauler like a Hull A could hop around small outposts that aren't practical for larger haulers, while the Odyssey could carry additional vehicle couriers and drop off goods itself. A fifth use is player transport, where you can carry a player and their small ship, and probably a lot of their hangar goods from one location to another. I can understand only being able to process quantanium because it could require a "special" process, but a mining laser is a mining laser. Maybe there is only one way to be able to mine quantanium, but they're really starting to make things difficult. I am looking forward to this ship. If it delivers I'll consider it. Only thing that keeps it from doing everything is that it can't build, right? If it could do that then it could really do anything!
Well I look at it as this does the same thing as the carrack. Except it can mine instead of repair. Seems fair to me. But then the carrack is modular and will have even more capabilities. But nobody says the carrack is the do everything ship!

No I get it! But once they opened it up to purchase pretty much anything that can be purchased can be reviewed. @@billionaireninjas thanks for the reply and I look forward to it ! So we got origin then rsi next right ? P.s - I can’t seem to find the join button is it not a thing for your channel anymore? Anyways have a good day and keep up the good work!
Honestly great review except the take on mining. The ship shouldn’t be able to mine everything but I think it should be able to refine everything. That allows for it to be more of a capital type ship instead of being an “one ship does all” type. This also promotes the idea that it competes with the galaxy and other ships in that area. But allowing the ship to mine and refine everything would move it into the category of “why buy anything else”. But that’s just my opinion. Otherwise love the review, keep it up.
Thanks for the support! I just think we only make the "why buy anything else" argument for this ship. It could be that this one gets in-house mining the same way the carrack got in-house repairing. I think it evens out. Nobody looks at the carrack and thinks "why buy anything else". Also nobody will use the repair bay in the carrack as a full on repair everything part of the ship because it is nerfed quite a bit. They could do the same thing to the Odyssey's mining capability and just limit it.
I initially upgraded to this one and then learned that it wouldn't be able to sell it's harvested and refined fuels. The Odyssey is pigeon-holed a bit by what it can bring along. While it has options, they're not enough. I hope they do commit to common sense and make it an actual refinery/surveyor ship with additional options in the hangar. That'd put it back in my good graces. When I found out that wasn't quite what it was, I melted it. Too steep a price to be hamstrung. Since then, I picked up an Arrastra and I think that fits my fleet needs a bit better. Great stuff, BN!
Also to note withrhwir current plan to change how S3 part repair works the carrack would be unable to repair its parts now. Pushes the odyssey a bit higher up for into the black wxploration. If it lacks speed tho probably not a ship that enjoys being in hostile turf. That being said if it does not have medical facilities loosing crew over time could be a major issue. Edit. Replace parts.
@@billionaireninjas went to see what I could find over the ship and pictures. If the vulture does indeed fit and can do structural repair it seems to be the only real option for the hangar. Says it has a med bed. Says 3 turrets and pictures show 2 top turrets which would provide good anti air cover but has some big blind spots. External engines, turrets, and mining equipment are all vital equipment that if lost will drastically hurt the ship. If the odyssey can refuel the vulcan tho. That basically give you a long range mobile repair and refuel platform which should also have decent cargo for ground missions. Believe 12 scu on Vulcan. But would also allow you to transform the odyssey into a long range mobile base that could fuel other ships through the Vulcan. Have to see if they allow it.
I hope they utilize the science stuff from the Sen and Endeavor and put it in the Odyssey. Also as it's a bit unclear I hope it can refuel from it's tanks inside the hanger.
Yes it can....so the ship itself mines(only) quantum and scoops hydrogen(completely self sufficient in the fuel department) and any ship land(100% landed) in the hanger can be refuel using the scooped and mined fuel
I have a Carrack, I LOVE my Carrack. Not planning to get an Odyssey. BUT. the Odd can hold a bigger fighter in the Hangar and has bigger guns. But ESPECIALLY that bigger hangar is what tempts me... but... POLARIS. and BMM
I am torn between the Carrack and the Odyssey. I love my Carrack and the vibes it gives. The biggest draw to the Odyssey is the onboard refinery. Have to see how it pans out and if there is a CCU in my future!
I’m new here. Well done. Quality and useful information is definitely here. 8 is what I’d give. It’s a pirate magnet. I’m not convinced that it has the capacity to defend itself. It’s the kit you choose that will determine your financial potential. That’s it. Great show. Love the creative effort.
I would just caution with the "unlimited range" that we don't have details on the refining process. My bet is that it would take certain "refining" catalysts and resources, which you would have to bring along with you or find. Not saying you couldn't but that could be your ultimate limit on range for exploring. Also you probably don't want the Odyssey doing the scouting for quantum fuel, so that will probably fall on your little hangar ship so what you bring will change what happens. Still a cool ship, but I fear the "smaller" cargo bay will limit your resources for crew/ ship maintenance in addition to refinery resources and material needed for upkeep on your little hangar ship and ground vehicle. Medbays will need resources; ship components will require upkeep and repair, weapon ammunition, suit maintenance, relays will fail etc etc. God I wish cig brought in more details how it's all planned to work together!
So many of these larger concept ships have me confused. Especially with modularity, I dont know what ship does what. The Galaxy i thought was mining support with refinery and cargo. Now this one overlaps and Galaxy is going to do small base building? Ships seem to be losing focus, in my opinion.
Misc and Crusader are my favorite ships to look at. The Carrack is very cool and you have to love the tier 1 med bed. I think any exploration ship would have a tier 1 med bed. From a gameplay standpoint, having a multi-crew ship, everyone should be able to respawn in the ship. You don't need half of your crew dying in a shuttle accident and having to traverse 3 systems to get back to you, especially if your ship has unlimited range.
So i did a bit more diving into ship parts. altho the odyssey has not been finished in game yet. On the wiki right now there are 2 major points which the odyssey is shown to have 1 s3 quantum and hydrogen fuel tank where as the carrack has 2 fuel tanks. if that does not change the carrack would natually be able to cover a larger distance faster. second point is that the carracks is specifically stated it has internal fuel tanks and that the carracks fuel tanks are reinforced for space travel, with it also having internal access to the fuel tanks in the back engine room. So the oddysseys external engines which are vital losable parts in combat are probably also connected with its fuel capacity in some sense unless it has internal fuel tanks somewhere. and if the fuel capacity of the ship does not increase that would make its travel times very slow if it happens to be very damaged. granted as long as its parts stay operational it would be able to limp back to saftey. That also being said it still has capital parts which even with the S3 changes would require a shipyard and as of yet we have no seen shipyards be very common. I think stantons only shipyard that i know of is crusader so even if the carrack had to find a port it could potentially go to any station or repair facility, namely a crucible. i need to look more into the crucible again but i dont recall them saying it will be allowed to change out capital parts tho i think it was said to be able to repair them.
Carrack will have the modularity, the speed, and whatever the fucking drones are supposed to do. The odyssey will have pure sustain, and larger companion ships.
This is becoming one of my favorite star citizen channels. I love your delivery.
Thanks for the support!

Nice ship but I don’t get why the refinery is so limited. Should be able to process more ores.
un poco grande para mi gusto pero aun asi es una belleza de nave.
And the Endeavor?
@@midnightprizm1583 What about it? 🤔
Great point!
Misc Oddesey.. never heard of it before! whoot just in time for Pyro?
Love the series! Keep it up!
That is one big multi-role ship. Can you make a video of the RSI Arrastra?
I'm going in alphabetical order or manufacturers! That will come up soon. I have to finish before citizencon next month!
Taken info from the QandA
Great video friend!
Such a cool ship. I love the MISC style. Will be a while before the modules become functionally useful though...
A cool ship, functionality wise - but hard to pick this over something like a Perseus, looks wise.
I wonder how powerful the mining function will be.
I have the mega explorer pack, so, the Carrack and the 600i, but, I really, really want the Odyssey
Right now I have an Aquilla for exploration, but the Odyssey is much better. So far it's primarily the price that's been holding me back
I would just caution with the "unlimited range" that we don't have details on the refining process.
That ship is dope
