    Oh he knew and he liked it. He is taking his wife for an idiot by trying to pretend he’s in any way innocent in this. She did not “ take him hostage”. He liked it until she bragged about it and he realized he couldn’t have his cake and eat it too. He is every bit as guilty as she is.

    They’re having an emotional affair at the very least. He can’t be that obtuse. **EDIT** He should have distanced himself when the sister admitted feelings.

  • @tohrurikku
    @tohrurikku 3 месяца назад +57

    He cut off the sister only because she was bragging about it online. He was hoping to get OP back if he gave her time, and at the same time keep the affair secretly going, but since the sister made it apparent that they were together his plans went down the drain. I am sure the husband and sister had harassment training, so there is no way they did not know any better. If he was above board then he would have brought others along to these lunches.

      Yep! Plus, a week was all it took for reality to hit. OP & her soon to be ex hubby are childless. Her sister is not. For a man in his mid-40s & almost married for 20 years means that it was probably intentional. To go from zero to multiple is a HUGE change in such short time (among other things)

    Nope. He let her in, realized that he was infatuated with an idea not the actuality, told sister he was still in love with his wife and "would do anything to get her back", and sister sees this as OP's fault because she handled everything with class. Happens all the time.

  • @LessaCaira

    Okay. So the week-long "relationship", let me explain. Here we have two intellectuals, one is married and loves his spouse but she doesn't necessarily 'feed his mind'. The other one is a single mom of two so dating is already hard, finding someone she can talk to who will accept the kids is highly difficult. They start talking and ooooh you scratch that good conversation itch. And oh hey... they aren't bad-looking either. Look at all this cool shit we have in common. They fall in love with more the idea of the person than the actual person. OP leaves, it's done. Well, she already thinks something is going on so let's give it a try. One week is about long enough to realize that 1. you don't mesh well romantically and 2. you don't like who the other person actually is.

  • @kayjacoby290
    @kayjacoby290 3 месяца назад +9

    I find nothing in OP's posts or comments to indicate she is lacking in any intellectual capacity. She is articulate and insightful - barring not expecting her husband and sister to lie about the depth and nature of their relationship. They seem to be gaslighting her, so no wonder. But I do wonder if sis is the golden child and OP grew up with the narrative of how very smart sis is and how very ordinary if not lacking, OP is. Which begs the question, if OP is such a dunce, why did hubby find her wife material? He should've been "smart" enough to find himself someone on his (alleged) level. Unless he wanted someone he thought he could control; and always planned to find someone else to fulfill him...otherwise.
    As far as the sudden turnaround:
    1. Hubby talked to a lawyer and found out how the divorce is likely to see him lose half of the marital assets, if not more.
    2. There is a morals clause for university employees. Or one of hubby's superiors told him how this reflects poorly upon the institution and if he wants to keep his job, he needs to get back with his wife or at least dump the sis.
    3. Sis is a crap around the house and doesn't do all the things hubby wants in a partner.
    4. Sis is a sleep farter.

    11:49 he like the thrill of the forbidden romance with her sister and it made him feel good and wanted. Instead of addressing the issues in his marriage that left him feeling unfulfilled he lead her sister on to feed his ego and when he got what he “wanted” he realized he threw everything away for nothing

    Not sure the ages of the kids but child abandonment should've been filed...if she did it once, she can do it again.
    There are a lot of What Ifs questions but either way, he wrong & sister wrong. He lied from the start bc he didn't admit to knowing how the sister felt and didn't distance himself from that moment. Sir, the sister was never your best friend...but to say that you can't have the same intellectual conversation with your wife is straight BS.
    Sister thought bc she had higher education that she was better than the wife...clearly not. You destroyed relationships for multiple people for nothing: her relationship with her kids, her relationship with her parents, her friendship with the other woman, her relationship with her sister, her standing with her BIL, her kids relationship with her sister & BIL & friend, the parents relationship with her sister & BIL, sister & BIL,

    Listening to the first half I honestly thought the guy was just oblivious, o dont see them having lunch together often as a red flag onnits own, they are inlaws with a good relationship and they work together. The biggest red flags are when she told him and he 1) didn't tell his wife and 2) didn't reduce the time he spent with her sister. Literally the exact opposite of how he should have handled it.
    Should habe told her "i understand hownyou feel but i dont feel the same, im gonna give you some space to work these feeljngs out so it doesn't mess up my marriage or our friendship" and then let his wife know encase sister got weird.
    At the very least he liked the attention and was entertaing the thought of an affair with her, it probably only lasted a week because he realized her sister was nuts

    We were both single but I just didn't feel a spark for her. You know? You're 100% correct. You can't be friends with somebody that has emotional feelings for you, play offered my friendship and she kept on pushing for affection and love and we had to end our friendship. The romance was only supported so long by its clandestine nature. It was exciting because it was taboo. Once they were free to be together, it fell apart fast because they're not actually as compatible as they thought. Husband probably finally saw Sister's true nature and gave her the boot. Sister sounds like an effing mess abandoning her kids like that. My sister also lied about loving me for 10 years. Spent time with me, made me feel like we were close and had a lot in common. I thought she really enjoyed our time together. There was some ghosting along the way or her being too busy to talk to hang out. But I brushed it off as actual busy life. Nope. Eventually the rages started over extremely trivial things followed by "I was just kidding" excuses. One day she sent me an email letting me know she'd lied to me for 10 years, that she hated me and we had nothing in common. She'd just been mirroring me. It was devastating, but disordered sisters will do that. OP's sister sounds like she also has something going on. Maybe it's a personality disorder, maybe she's just emotionally immature. Who knows. But I can understand how this whole thing went down. It's not super shocking to me.

It was super weird and wild for it to only last a week and for him to go no contact during that week. It is still entirely possible he is just a cheating AH, but he came across as more of a general emotional dumbass who enjoyed the attention. The sister needs therapy in the worst way. It’s not often I disagree but here I do. Working at the same place it’s not a big leap to think they would eat dinner together daily. I also don’t agree that he should cut off the sister just because she has feelings for him. If he knows nothing would happen between them then why should he care about that.

    • @14hoursahead
      @14hoursahead 3 месяца назад +7

      It all hinges on him knowing that his wife's sister had feelings for him. Once he knew, it was his responsibility, out of respect for his wife, to distance himself *at the very least*. He also should've told his wife when her sister confessed to him, then his wife could've said whether or not she's comfortable with them having that frequent, meaningful, contact. As for them having lunch together, I'd say the same. If he truly didn't want to encourage the sister's feelings or allow them for his own ego, he would centered his relationship with his wife as being more important.

    • @likeagdphoenix

      Because hanging out with her knowing she has feelings for him only adds fuel to that fire. If he knows how she feels, and she realizes that he knows, she could potentially see that as a chance at reciprocation. If my husband was hanging out with a woman who had feelings for him, knowingly, the boundaries are too damn blurred and I would be very upset. This is a line in the sand type of situation.
