The greatest band on earth was THE JAMES BROWN BAND. THE BIGINNING OF THE ORIGINAL FUNK AND WHAT ELSE CAME FROM THAT START. Some of those musicians came from the JAMES BROWN BAND. ALL the funk licks and grooves had ALREADY BEEN DONE BY THE JAMES BROWN BAND. This is an off shoot of funk which was created and recorded first and foremost by The JAMES BROWN BAND. Clinton put a psychedelic touch on it, but it was already done. Clinton continued what had already been created done and introduced to the upcoming musicians who had the ear to hear. Bernie IS SLAMMING !!!!!

This gang is made of gifted, creative, and innovative musicians. They added so much color and transformed funk music into something special and so distinctive.

Bernie Worrell, what else can you say...he is singularly the baddest cat ever. When your training and natural gift of perfect pitch line up, thats chosen by God stuff, Bending time and notes, seemingly with little regard to anything else, to poly rhythms in the moment and on the fly, and when the band joins in.....Maaan....hottest band of all time.
A genuinely great person to meet who always encouraged musicians to go to the next level. Miss you very much. No arrogance at all from this musical genius.
Ray Davis is truly the greatest Bass singer in the universe next to the late Melvin Franklin..R.I.P. Ray...he also was the first bass singer to replace the late Mel Franklin in The Legendary Temptations Temptations Temptations Temptations

Yea no Glen is the only issue his voice in general but on mothership connection his soul was unmatched but this combo on the keys wizard of woo and one of ohios players finest being the fan of key I am I don't know if it can get better then those two man

@@ChemistryAmsterdam Other legendary musicians have described Bernie as a "genius" and he's considered the Jimi Hendrix of the keyboard by his peers. Not to mention Bernie is a child prodigy who gave his first concert at 4 years old and was playing with orchestras by the time he was 10.

Bernie has a very rich music vocabulary...so he can improvise forever. Notice how he went complete Count Basie/Duke Ellington, late 30's "Lindy Hop Swing" mode, at 11:59. Bernie was one of the most inspirational musicians to play with. RIP, Woo...we gonna always make sure you "git credit" for your incredible contribution :-)

Anyone that does not think Eddie Hazel was an absolute beast just listen to him grove at 12:40 on. He could blend in magnificently and really become a beast at anytime during a set.

He looked so healthy and into the funk!
No disrespect to Michael Hampton because he is a PFunk legend and has had truly amazing live performances, some of which I've been lucky enough to have seen. But Eddie outshines him throughout this entire concert. Eddie was able to make each song better whether he was on rhythm or lead (standing on the verge from this concert is a perfect example of his ability to do both with ease). Even his extra rhythm on cosmic slop made the song noticeably better than other performances from the same tour. Eddie was in his prime here and it's a shame he wasn't around and on tour more during the late 70s heyday. He was in a zone here in Houston 1979 and is proof that he is one of the best guitarists of all time

He's easily one of the greatest to have ever picked up a guitar he's criminally under-rated too

Much Thrust was a Bernie song on his All The Woo In The World album. Insurance man for the funk was the best song on the album. They should have performed that instead of Much Thrust. The show was still on the one 🤘🤘🤘🤘!
