Can’t understand who would have a thumb down for Detroit’s own. Before Parliament Funkadelic she was a lead singer with Brainstorm and sang on the early 70s hit This Much Be Heaven . Underrated UnderPromoted Legendary Talent
I was fortunate enough to see PF a couple times at the top of their game during their hey day in the mothership connection era. I also saw them again 30 odd years later during their "afterglow" years; in an outdoor setting much like this video. They might have lost some of the costumes, stage props and pyrotechnics along the way but the Funk is always in full effect. Just look at the crowd at this show, there are more people on stage than in the audience. Now close your eyes and listen. Can you hear anyone short changing the Funk. They have never brought anything less than full energy to the stage. That my friends is pFunk in a nutshell

I can't get no man hanging out at the disco-tec. I was a kid and didn't know who was singing this, but I remember those words. Nor did I realize it was Ms Woods until I took a look just now. She sang a lot of stuff that had I known better I would have been more of a fan guy.
Mr. Snider had magic fingers period. I'm lucky to have been to their concerts. And lucky still that we have these recordings.

even now they do put on a great show every now and then.... just saw one in Oakland last weekend. But they don't always throw down like they did back in the 90s.

Thank you for posting this very clean and intimate performance, r.i.p. to the great artists that are no longer with us and you are truly loved and missed. As I sat listening so very close, my heart is just melting with joy that the p-funk family brings. They give so many textures and layers of sound, that my soul shivers with a performance like this! I have been blessed with watching them perform live and it has always made such an impact on the way I perceive music.
