Kelly, you’re a national treasure mate! Add this to the multitude of songs you’ve broken down for us on YT, your catalog of note for note songs is just plain epic. I appreciate your hard work and dedication, cheers 🎉
"I've heard many people over the years try to lump this track into the Southern Rock, genre. But Leslie, being from NY, and growing up in NJ, kind of kills that notion. I think you explained it perfectly. It's somewhere between Metal, and killer, blues rock. Great choice for a video lesson. I use to play this tune and you made it easy for me to relearn it. I'm just getting back into it as you know. Thanks for this killer lesson. You rock man." Peace.. Joe
This song is a great example of where there is so much going on in such a short period of time but you get so captivated and sucked in that you dont really notice just how much is really going on. This song as a kid always used to get totally engrossed once the incredible lyrics started, it made you almost feel like you were a member of the band just going along for the ride. A timeless classic in my book!
Thanks you so much for this. Only recently was I told by Miles Davis's personal assistant (for decades) that Mountain was Miles's favorite rock band and that he would go to all of their concerts if possible. What a strange story!
Your so right Kelly, when I first heard this song on 92KSJO I was hooked and said ,"Who was thatttt!" I went straight to the record store and bought the album. I was 13 or14, drove my Mom crazy. I know how to play it but I just watched another guy and wasn't to satisfied. So let's do this.
So impressed with and grateful for your breakdowns of epic tracks like this Kelly. I see 38K subs for your channel. Seems shockingly low for such great content. I imagine that number will be a distant memory soon. Wishing you nothing but success and I’ll be here watching it happen…
So Good Kelly!!! Taught just like my first guitar teacher. I cant think of this as heavy metal... but, solid '70's hard rock! Can you do a breakdown of another '70's icon, Ten Years After, I'd Love To Change The World? I've got the basics, but like Mississippi Queen, there are a lot of fills throughout the song. Thanks!
Kelly thank you very much for your lessons , as I learn how to play songs it helps in understanding the neck. You should give 1 on 1 lessons over the internet. Again thank you
Cheers, Kelly! Love your playing and show so much. Funny how these tunes bubble up again and you just want to try to rock it again for yourself. Side note: I'd love for you to get into some tips for that rock sound of push up on the string and killer tremolo at the top. Sounds so good but hard to do, ay?
Already got dis one. I met Leslie at s Show. Asked if he'd met me in Rehab!!! Corky gave me his Sticks. I gave them to an Old Lady. Pissed him off.Oh Well dem where the Daze!!!
Outstanding yet again!! Love your channel. When i play along with the original recording though my guitar is not in tune with the record. I guess they tuned to one instrument and not an electric tuner we tend to use today?
Hello Kelly what string gauge do you use and do you prefer do you have a certain brand that you like is there a chance that you can do some triumph allies forces or spellbound you do a great job keep it up🎸
