Thanks for this video! Your previous how to draw bodies video has really helped with my style. Thank you (again lol). Btw your art is very nice, and it’s is aesthetically pleasing :) Liking this video 👍 Also some art challenges seems like fun, you should do that!
Referring to the front bit of the head as a "Mask" has really helped me further understand the shapes. Previously I had been confusing it for being a part of the skull circle, so I would struggle with that part the most and combining the two.
I genuinely cannot express how thankful I am of your tutorials!! You're legit my go to art channel if I ever need help with something like anatomy, and just the whole vibe of the videos are so comforting :]
I like ur tutorials and if I ever get my art tablet fixed I'll think about maybe using these faces. I really love to draw and in school I've almost always drawn like this
So. This video actually really helped me, because I realized something I’ve been doing wrong for YEARS that’s always thrown me off; for some reason, I always put the eyes ABOVE the guide line, and never actually payed attention to where the skull was. Decided to try it this way and ended up with a sketch that I LOVED that was made in about a minute.
I always did that too. And i thought the face I drew was too long? So I’d always try to fix the cheek position, but like it would still look wrong, Lol. So I just realized that too. Blue is a life saver fr😭
Oh! I actually missed that when I was watching the video. I'll try incorporating that in my next sketches later to see the results. Thanks for commenting this! ❤❤❤
ive been pretty upset recently because I couldnt draw at all yet all my friends could, your tutorial has really helped me and maybe I could give my friends a surprise. thank you so much. P.S your art is AMAZING!!
Art is just practice! Like anything else it's a skill that requires practice and anyone can learn to draw :) good on you for teaching urself - from a 22 year old, self taught artist
you are just the ever- your art is amazing, your tutorials are amazing, and your voice is just perfect for these kinds of things, it's really simple to tune in and understand what you're showing, so good job on that! :)
Not that the words I'm from another country (Kazakhstan) and I thought well, at least I'll try to understand something (I understand a little English) but in the end I understood about 90% of the material and the video is so cozy and also a big big for subtitles )))))))))))))
This really helps me! Whenever I see heads, I would draw eyes right in the middle of the circle instead of a bit further down like you said and later on, I would have to adjust the skull because it wasn’t the right size for the face. The way you explain things makes it a lot easier for me to understand! I’m also glad you gave us “homework”. It gives me a goal to work towards. I’ll work hard to draw heads from any angle by using muscle memory!
random tip, but a piece of media that has really helped me stylise and figure out the basic structure of drawing a head is Team Fortress 2. that game's art style is a nice blend of cartoony, stylish exaggeration for expression and recognisability, while keeping the characters looking anatomically and proportionally accurate and grounded in reality. it's really helpful if you have an expressive comic book-like style, but it can also generally be helpful if you want to make your drawings look more anatomically correct and lively, and even for making your character designs look more diverse. i find that studying all the mercs' different head shapes and how the head can change and shift in weight and shape by either using reference images or inserting the game models into SFM is really helpful for me. it's definitely inspired me and helped me develop my art style :D
HOLY. Ive been an artist for so long and my faces never seemed to click. They were manageable, but i couldnt do much but straight on. Ive never seen anyone talk about separating the face into a skull and mask- I would just make it as one full “shape”. Youve helped me sososo much /g
Geniuinely drawing faces has been the biggest challange for me. The realisiation that I have to think of the skull more as a sphere than a circle is what pushed me over. All the features follow geodseics. Thank you for the tutorial
Intermediate artist: I draw on and off and sometimes I start to dislike my art style (I have been progressively making it slightly more realistic and stylized instead of anime) and your tutorials are great to help me relearn stuff and refresh! Thank you Edit: after looking at the tutorial my face started looking more expressive, didn’t even go into great detail how to convey they emotion just the structure!
This video has completely changed the way I look at art, I can see the mask and the skull and where the facial features lay over it. I just started trying my hand at drawing and I am so glad I stumbled upon this video, I feel much better equipped to tackle heads and faces now.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL OMG TY. ive always been naturally good at basics for art compared to other people my age so when i was younger i never had to research anatomy. then all my friends got better and i got worse so i just stopped drawing. now that im getting back into it i have to actually research anatomy ect ect. this is the best tutorial i have watched that actually makes sense to me
the mask analogy helped massively with understanding and visualizing everything. on top of linking that 3d model for guide lines being a huge help, great video and thank you tons!
Thank u for a tutorial about the head. And the folded paper tip and the underside of the chin and also how angles work and the reminding me again the importance of learning anatomy 😭
your tutorials have seriously helped me so much as I've been wanting to get into art for the longest time. the way you explain things instead of just telling us to do it makes total sense to me! it makes me feel like i can better understand why, as artists, we should learn things a certain way. i truly feel like i can accomplish art now!

I managed to draw an ok-ish drawing and wasn't bad-BUT DUDE THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS EVERY SINGLE THING!! THANK YOU! I'VE WATCHED ANOTHER ONE OF YOUR VIDS THAT ALSO HELPED ME FIND MY ART STYLE!
Your tutorials have made understanding how to draw people so much easier-the shapes and parts you use finally click in my mind, unlike countless others I’ve tried to grasp, and the way you explain it all is perfect ❤️ and your personality is the best part!
I know I’m late but your videos really help me with my art as I want to be an artist but I’m really bad and I love your tutorials and it’s made me improve sm Sorry if it doesn’t make sense 😭
I've been drawing for like forever, yet this video still helped a lot even though I already knew most of this. Sometimes it's just easy to gloss over the basics once we think we've mastered them, and then over time we tend to forget them again or just fail to actually apply them. anyway, thanks!
You have such a calm voice, you're not like other artists doing tutorials, what I mean is that the way you teach is so simple that it makes my small brain understand it, when I watched other tutorials I couldn't get it the only thing that would go trough my head was: "This looks easy" and then when I would make the art it looked like trash, BUT YOU, you made me get it, you make it look so easy that when i make the art IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE TRASH LMAO. I used to draw YEARS ago and got discouraged and quit and when I tried to pick it up again today I was just so rusty and didn't really know where to start. Found this and as you were talking about blocking the faces I was like huh yeah makes sense, looks like a low poly face. Then your friend suggested looking up 3D modelling guides and I couldn't help but smile.
these types of videos on your channel really help a lot. it helps watching someone draw it out but when you also explain it it makes much more sense and its easier to see what you mean. thank you for making these, youre helping me become the artist ive wanted to be!

I cannot express enough gratitude for this tutorial, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Felt myself feeling unmotivated in my art since it felt like I wasn’t going outside my box of drawing cartoon animals. I really want to learn humans better, so I’ll be probably watching your stuff a lot
This video actually really helped me, I'm not a beginner artist but I stopped drawing for a bit and I could barely draw a circle when I was done from taking a break from drawing lol
THIS! This finally made face proportions make sense to my brain. The mask shape helps SO much!!! I was so frustrated for so long, bless you drawing Angel!!
idk if you're going to read this, but YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH YOURE HELPING ME. i can draw. I CAN. Im serious. I understand shading and stuff, and can draw nice still lifes in my perspective class. But recently ive wanted to learn how to draw a proportionate figure thats also cartoonish so i can make some Owl House fan art, and your channel has helped me with poses and people SO MUCH. SO DANG MUCH. yes. Starting with hands for poses? GENIUS. EVERYTHING YOU TEACH: GENIUS
i've already seen a massive improvement after only trying one different thing, i can't wait till i can learn more from this video, thx so much Bluebiscuits!
This summer I’ve decided to challenge myself. I’ve always avoided things I’m not good in, like painting and drawing. So I’m challenging myself to learn how. Wish me luck !!
Your body tutorials were so helpful in developing my artstyle now, I’m excited to hopefully get out of 3/4! Thanks so much for all the useful tutorials and study guides.
You cleared up my greatest confusion about this. I always thought you drew a circle and that was the entire face. Now I know that it's just the skull and the face is lower down. Plus, you explained where to put the horizontal line. This one explanation will save me from a lifetime of difficulty. Thank you greatly for this.
@@bluebiscuits yes! me too! i've been struggling with finding myself a method that works for me for years now. i used the method used in the video, but just without the 'mask'. i do want to understand why drawing a mask on the head can be so useful. i'd love to try it and be able to understand the basics of it, but it's too complicating for me. ah and one thing i've been struggling with a little! the horizontal guideline is where the eyes go, right? but it confuses me, because i've never actually been told how to draw the eyes onto the horizontal line. i know the guideline is for keeping the eyes in place, but i've always struggled with the specific placement for the eyes. an example.. does it need to be the pupil that is directly on the line? or does the bottom of the eye need to be on the line? is it the corner of the eye that needs to be on the line? (the line being the horizontal guideline) sorry for the bad explanation,, it's 3am haha. your video has motivated me so much, so thank you♡
@@arthurless3557 Dude! I know I'm late, but when I read this bit from your comment: "...does it need to be the pupil that is directly on the line? or does the bottom of the eye need to be on the line? is it the corner of the eye that needs to be on the line? (the line being the horizontal guideline", I had to reply. I've been struggling with the same thing! Let me know if you ever find out, aha...
reigniting a highschool passion that died almost 5 years ago. pretty much gotta restart from square one and thats why im here. lost quite a bit of dexterity. ive tried a different method but this one honestly feels better and i feel like i can apply this one better.
Damn. I wanted to study, came back to the video, and just with the first advice/step of separating into ball, lines, mask and neck+shoulders I already improved a lot. I should've started studying heads earlier, im always drawing 3/4 (i used to only draw front and it was rlly stiff). I hope to be able to get better when I finish this heads study
Thank you so much. I used to draw years ago but gave up because I could only take so many electives, and my other hobbies took over. 7 years later I am trying (and struggling) to re-learn! Thank you!!!
I just found this and it makes it so much easier 😭 the Loomis method was too confusing. Maybe you use it for the eyes and other features (haven't watched the other video yet), but this method on drawing the head at different angles made it so much easier to understand. I actually had fun doing it even though I'm still bad at it lol
this tutorial was so so helpful! i tried to learn this before but i couldn’t get a grasp on it. your style and way of explaining things made it sooo much easier to understand, so thank you!
i feel like you need an award for this 😭😭i like to draw while watching videos so for fun i tried what you were explaining and it genuinely helped immediately
I'm a self taught artist that knows how to draw good enough, but I'm trying to figure out how to put what I know into words so I can help my brother and dad learn drawing too and it doesn't feel like I'm ordering them to draw a certain way. 😭 Ty for the tutorial
This video helped me soo much. Over these years I've practiced and experimented on the anatomy of..everything but the face as I used to think I didn't need to..yet now I feel its the opposite. Just with trying some of the techniques mentioned, I've found improvement-- This video gave me a lot of insight, thank youu
Thanks so much! I cannot express my joy because I literally traced everything just yesterday (I started a week ago) and today I only traced the outline and blocked out the shapes of where the eyes nose the lips and checks and everything would be and then make the eyes and nose and lips on my own for the first time, and I made a piece almost realism like so tysm💗💗💗
Omg this is already helping me understand it better I think. The problem I always had with the guidelines (or crosshairs as I called them) was that I understood they were to help with position parts of the face and head correctly but it didn’t help me because I didn’t understand the structure off the head very well.
Thank you so much, I could not for the life of me figure out a good way to do heads, but you explained it in a way that made it click for me. Thank you.
I'm always so happy for your art tutorials :) I've been drawing for years and get frustrated when I'm not great but your tutorials just make me feel like I'm improving so much!
I want to give you my thanks for this video. I've been taking a mental health break from trying to study art since I was impatient and frustrated with myself. This is a fun and helpful video, and it is encouraging me to try studying heads now. I like how you used the term 'muscle memory' along with 'practice' instead of JUST 'practice' lol. Reminds me of learning how to type faster on the keyboard. So, muchas gracias. Hopefully I can put this to good use.
I finally decided to take learning how to draw seriously and this tutorial has been super motivating! You got me taking notes and everything, now to put it into practice and try to work on some angles!
I’m so thankful u made this video because I’ve been using the circle shape to draw heads wrong which made my characters look awful awkward, I will keep returning to this video so I know how to draw heads, thank u blue biscuit 🙏🙏
Tysm so much i was stuck on doing art hw from a week ago and since i was absent i didnt understand how to draw the face and thought about skipping school tmr lol tysmmm >_

You cleared up my greatest confusion about this. I always thought you drew a circle and that was the entire face. Now I know that it's just the skull and the face is lower down. Plus, you explained where to put the horizontal line. This one explanation will save me from a lifetime of difficulty. Thank you greatly for this.
I had the same struggle for such a long time and when I finally snapped it , it become so much easier . Glad to have been able to help 💕
(the line being the horizontal guideline)
sorry for the bad explanation,, it's 3am haha.
your video has motivated me so much, so thank you♡
@@arthurless3557 Dude! Let me know if you ever find out, aha...
reigniting a highschool passion that died almost 5 years ago. pretty much gotta restart from square one and thats why im here. lost quite a bit of dexterity. ive tried a different method but this one honestly feels better and i feel like i can apply this one better.
your the only artist that doesnt make me stressed while drawing this some quality fr
Drawing circle was distracting for me as a beginner. Now i understand it better. Thank you for this great video.
you helped me so much, i have no words to express how thankful i am right now
It's crazy how much someone can improve when they just know what to do!
You've just revived my passion for drawing
I'm a beginner and this video has been so helpful for learning side profiles and different perspectives!!
I really love your tutorials they help soo much!
Thank you!!!!❤
Thank you so much.
Dude, this video was literally soooo helpful for me! The thing I always struggle with is faces and this really helped me! Thank you so much!
this tutorial was so so helpful! i tried to learn this before but i couldn’t get a grasp on it. your style and way of explaining things made it sooo much easier to understand, so thank you!
You are one of my favourite artists EVER you are such a huge inspiration to me and you make such great videos bro, keep it up ur awesome
YOOOO DUDE THANK U SO MUCH 😭💕💕
@@bluebiscuits 10:39 was that on purpose or did u accidentally make the cube have only 4 plains XXDDDD
i feel like you need an award for this 😭😭i like to draw while watching videos so for fun i tried what you were explaining and it genuinely helped immediately
Thanks for the lesson, teach. Ive been struggling with the human head for a while now and specifically from side angles. (Your video is amazing btw)
girl you're literally the best at explaining this
the fact that you put in the title how YOU draw not "how to draw the right way" is so awesome
This video just saved me from making so many mistakes in my art. THANK YOUUUU
The discussion about the mask has already started to help my technique! Thank you!
This week I’ve been struggling on face perspectives and here you are with this video. THANK YOU!
I honestly always thought this would be extremely confusing like most other ones I've seen so I'm extremely happy I actually saw this one thank you
Omg this is already helping me understand it better I think. The problem I always had with the guidelines (or crosshairs as I called them) was that I understood they were to help with position parts of the face and head correctly but it didn’t help me because I didn’t understand the structure off the head very well.
OMG FINALLY!! I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS THEY ARE SO HELPFUL FOR ME!! THANK YOU SM BLUE 🧡🧡😩🙏🏻
Thank you so much, I could not for the life of me figure out a good way to do heads, but you explained it in a way that made it click for me. Thank you.
i am screaming!! Your anatomy tutorial really helped me and i've been wanting a face tutorial from you since i saw it, great job blue thank youu~
I finally feel happy with something ive drawn with relative ease. Thank you SOOO MUCH❤❤
i was just looking for a good video on faces 😭 this came just in time
I'm always so happy for your art tutorials :) I've been drawing for years and get frustrated when I'm not great but your tutorials just make me feel like I'm improving so much!
You got me taking notes and everything, now to put it into practice and try to work on some angles!
i am starting to get into art, A LOT, and this is my savior.
I’m so thankful u made this video because I’ve been using the circle shape to draw heads wrong which made my characters look awful awkward, I will keep returning to this video so I know how to draw heads, thank u blue biscuit 🙏🙏
This helped me so much I can't even express my gratitude for this tutorial keep up the good work 😊
Thank you for explaining this in a simple way that i can understand as a newbie
Tysm so much i was stuck on doing art hw from a week ago and since i was absent i didnt understand how to draw the face and thought about skipping school tmr lol tysmmm >_

Easily my favourite tutorials for drawing! 🎉
🫂💕that means so much to meeeee
