Tyler's got a good fix here but if you need adjustability I would cut 2 inch pins, weld a washer to one end and drill holes for cotter pins in the other end of the pins.
I have a similar issue with the box blade attachment by CountryLine. Your video shows that there is an additional set of holes 2.5 inches higher than the bolt using the spacer that you have hooked to. Also own the HF quick attach and happy to have attached it to 4 other items, only having to unbolt the hook and slide it up/down for one tool. To that end I went to TS and bought 2 pins with hairpin clips for on off instead of carrying a wrench and so far hoisting 550 lbs at the tractor rear the pins work great! The box blade (used) came with the upper pin "above" the bolt w spacer. Distance appears to be 2.25" to slide the HF hook thru. I did note that the lower (2) left/right hooks of the HF quick attach will not engage the hook by HF due to the taper of the lead of the hook. Top of the hook to where the pin bottom would rest to anchor fully is something like 3.75 inches.... That height of the tapered hook would NOT allow me to engage the top pin...not the bolt you used with spacer. The HF hook isn't quite wide enough to allow that coupling to drop down to rest. Hence looking to use the "top" pin. This led me to looking for an answer and see others posted about AgriSupply or Walmart for a floating link and will look to see what is out there... or....try to find a top hook and cut it to 2.125" so I can slide in to the top of the box blade bars and then "engage" the "Top" pin. Like others, I couldn't see permanently welding an item in. Idea of welding washer and using a pin on the inside is a better option. But replacing the hook is my goal to utilize the original hook for the other 4 tools.
I understand if you don't agree. For me this has worked out great. If i needed to get off the tractor and remove bolts/pins and change the height of the hook Its no longer "quick". I have a dozen different 3pt attachments that all work with this. If i get a attachment (and i have) that does not work I modify the attachment, not the hitch. Thanks for watching.
Nicely done, Tyler. I bought a different hook that sticks out further and now I can use it for each implement that is QH compatible. If I had a welding machine, I would have done that but for $16, it did the trick. Enjoyed a full-watch. 👍

I hear ya but It is not possible. You would have to notch out one of the supports as they would hit eachother before getting the top link holes to line up.
its a shame they could have made this hook just a little deeper and it would have worked so much better. nice fix, so long as you dont need to move it up or down. mine I have to adjust up and down for various implements. I used a long hitch pin with a retaining clip so I can move it up and down easily. I did have to drill all the holes out a few thousands of an inch larger. since there is no bolt head anymore to interfere it works ok now. good mod and great video! keep up the good work brother!
Yeah no kidding. fortunately all of my attachments work with this right now. Any that i would purchase in the future that will not work i will probably end up modifying the attachment itself. Fingers crossed that wont happen haha EDIT: I figure if I do change my mind on position i will just grind off the tack welds holding the pins in there.
Good fix! If you want to do some re-engineering and welding ,buy a HF quick hitch! For as much as I have cussed and messed with mine it sure is a back saver!
Just used your idea tonight. Awesome idea bro!! Have you had an issues with possibly loosing the snap pins on your lower arms. Wondered if I should tack weld those also
Thanks bud, I'm glad it helped you! Make the implement fit the quick hitch not the other way around (so many people don't understand that). I haven't had any issues with them moving yet to be honest. If i ever do I would not hesitate to give them a tack. Thanks for watchin and commenting man! have a good week!
They should be available at any farm store. Just bought a used mower that had loose pins that couldn't be tightened because of messed up threads. Cost $5 each Including nut and lock washer.
Nice job, Ty. How is your QH holding up? I want a quick hitch but my rotary cutter is not QH compatible. There seems to always we something out of kilter. What implements do you use it for? Thumbs up
Yes that's how it seems to be for everyone of my attachments too. I have been slowly modifying ones that aren't quite right. But I use it with my box blade, York rake, ballest weight, brush cutter and core aerator. Thanks bud I appreciate that!
Just curious what the diameter of the holes were originally? I am going through the same frustration. I was wanting to use a clevis pin with a flat head and cut the excess off the back side with the clip right against the frame so I could still adjust it. I am afraid some of the attachments might not match with the top hook. Having the ability to adjust it might come in handy.
Yup you just pick up them at your farm store. Because the quick hitch is made for cat 3 attachments you must addapt the cat 1 attachments via the bushings like you see here. I used those until I ponied up and bout the cat 1 to cat 3 adaptors like these m.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200479426_200479426

Here are some helpful tips for your HFQH. Keep in mind that it's made in China and also keep in mind that the CAT 1, 2, 3 etc. "standards" allow for a wide variation in implement pin width and centerline height of the third pin. So here is my story with the HFQH. First, the top hook is too close the the QH frame and needs to be extended by 1" to 1-1/4" which is accomplished by welding a block to the back of the hook and redrilling the holes. There are aftermarket ones available for purchase for around $30 if you aren't handy in the fabrication department. Second, the supplied pins that hook the QH to the draft arms are grossly undersized...by 0.100" to be exact. This will cause excessive wear on the swivelly balls of the draft arms and provide a lot of unnecessary slop to the assembly. I bought a set of CAT 1 lower link pins at Farm & Fleet and re-made the lower pins using the purchased ones as a starting point. A little lathe work and fabrication/welding will do the trick. You will also have to drill out the holes in the QH to 57/64" to accommodate the new pins. Third, you need to use bushings on the lower pins of your implement to bring the O.D. of the pins from 7/8" to around 1-7/16" so they fit snugly in the lower hooks of the QH. You have to do this with ANY QH you use, Land Pride, iMatch, SpeeCo, Lee Agra, etc.. I made such modifications to my HFQH and it has served me well for over 3 years with no other issues. Also, in order to keep the "quick" in the QH, you need to adjust your implements to match one setting on the QH...this is only a concern if you use (usually) older implements from a variety of manufacturers as I stated before, the "standards" for 3PH's are very loose at best and allowed manufacturers MUCH leeway in their designs.
You do know you don’t have to “open” the locks on the lower connections... they are spring loaded and pins will open them and then they close on their own... the handles are only needed to open them when you take the implement off!
I hear what your saying but they are pretty much standardized. In the event that I were to need to move the top link hook, rather then unbolt, move and re-bolt. Only to have to unbolt, move and re-bolt it back when done. In that event I would just take off the quick hitch, use it like normal and remount the quick hitch when done. Truth be told though if I were to pick up a attachment that did not fit properly that I would be using often I would just modify the attachment to fit the hitch. Thanks for your input
@@Tyler_Koehn FYI, my box blade and rotor tiller have different heights from lower pins to top hook. That why I bought the Harbor freight QH, just for the ability to adjust the height. My Land Pride QH was not adjustable.
Yep i agree. All of the attachments I have and have purchased fit in this position. If I get a odd ball attachment I just modify the attachment to work. That way I can simply hook up to any attachment in seconds. Makes for a very streamline process. Thanks for watching and the comment!

1st, throw that bolt away and put a hitch pin in the hook. Lean your hitch forward and put the hook in after you're attached. It's stupid easy. Replace the hitch pin and go to work. There's no modifications necessary to use these hitches. Although a little common sense goes a long way. I know this is an old video but for anyone looking for help this is not the way to do it.
That is not the issue. 1st, having to put in and take out pins completely defeates the purpose of a quick attach. Secondly the top link support from the implement is now blocking your hole you want to put a pin back into.
That's the problem with the QH. It's designed to fit QH compatible implements. After thorough frustration of trying to change out the implements I finally decided the bolts in the hook are idiotic. I don't know how that ever got passed. I simply use one hitch pin. I back up and hook the lift hitches in place. (This is where the idea Quick Hits comes in at. Not being able to hook up without getting off a tractor is not the point) on my bushhog when I hook up my hook stands straight out from the collar and it works just fine.
