Another tip - you can't use HDR while shooting RAW file. To enable HDR mode you need to have TIFF or JPEG file formats.

Makes sense, if you are shooting RAW you are going to do a bracketed set and merge them in post

DeepSnowRider - I always shoot raw and I merged them as well using photomatix and then photoshop.. It takes bit of time but I still see clear difference in image quality.

How do you save an exposure using the ae button then take a picture. Each time i do this the focus is locked from where i originally took the meter reding from. The picture is then out of focus.

IMPORTANT! You cannot use Flexible Program mode (P*) in Auto-ISO. I discovered this through a call to Nikon support and the person I spoke to didn't know it either, but he guessed that was the problem and we confirmed it. The P* still displays but the Command dial has no effect on the settings.

Nice to get some tweaks. Any idea how to get the Brackets shot continous without holding down the button? Or maybe how to minimize the intervals that the selftimer uses? Getting the brackets shot as fast as possible is important to me and half a second delay is not an option. Also that tip with the auto ISO was nice, gonna use that ;)

the year is 2021 and I just learned how to toggle auto ISO and back, easily. Kudos for that tip alone. ( I knew the rest )

Thanks for the tips. I am heading to Antarctica with a rented Nikon 800. My experience is with D7000 and others but I wanted to the full frame experience especially with the Trinity that I have along. Question is - what setting would you suggest to setup the camera when I start to frame some amazing shots and get ready to shoot? Your feedback would be appreciated.
