Great and thorough video. Just bought the same carb for $32 USD on Amazon. So glad I watched this before I started installing. Toughest part looks like the tap. Thanks again!
Nice save on this machine by swapping out a discontinued carb with an alternate carb and a few simple alterations to make it fit. Your customer must be extremely pleased. Keep up the great videos i am sure many will appreciate this one with others that have scrapped their machines being very unhappy to find out they could have done what you just did.
Lots of great stuff there! When you screwed in the new black plastic inlet/shut-off valve, I understand that it has to be in a suitable position to take the fuel hose, but you also have to turn it on tight. So unless you were EXTREMELY lucky, I would have thought that screwing it inTIGHT it could have ended up pointing any which way. Could you explain please because that dilemma often happens. Thank you.
Excellent as usual. I have a Niki carb on a 1450 series briggs 305cc that won't run right even after I drilled out the pilot jet. I have done several before with some good results.I have a small engine shop and hate the Niki carbs. Do you know of another make carb that will fit in the place of the Niki? I thought maybe a Walbro might fit? Thanks for the video's.
Yea the walbros from the craftsmans are usually the same, I forget the model of my neighbors machine but if I can get it tomorrow I'll post it here. He had a 13hp so it should work the same.
I hate Nikki carburetors too. It seems to always be a gamble wether cleaning them will work. I think I will just start replacing them...I've had luck with the Chinese eBay ones.
I did that 1st and all I could feel was resistance hahaha so I decided to use the impact and just bored out the main jet lol that thing wasn't coming out of there!
I'm glad you got the engine fixed on the mower I have a1985 11 hp I/c Briggs and Stratton engine luckily the carb has been replaced by the way had to have a New sump gasket .&. intake vaive job done but now got to get the needle Valve & seat replaced the engine sits on 1985 series 5 extra tough 28 inch cut hi vac snapper also go a Montgomery ward 42 inch cut hydrostaic drive limt edition mower made by mtd it's got a 18,5 twin cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine the mower is a powr Kraft she got issues with the engine but she's in the shop along with the other mower oh by the way great job with the mower youi are working on.my Canadian brother 😀😀 😀
Do you know the thread size on fuel shut off inlet valve? Is that fuel pressure tool something you can just buy? Thanks for vid, I am replacing same carb/same 10hp day before you uploaded this vid. Glad u found the model # on replacement. I am seeing them for
Hey thanks for watching, it's listed as a standard 1/8" NPT (Pipe Thread) Also, I purchased the carb pressure tester but it wasn't cheap, about $110 Canadian. It's saved me more than that amount by identifying leaking carbs and saving me the time from installing and removing to fix again! Hi There, very good video. I am wondering if you can share where did you buy this new carburetor. I have the same one in my Riding Mower and has been a bid pain to try to fix.. Once again.. very descripted and help video Gilberto
Where can I find the fuel line tester? I tried Amazon and cannot find the simple type that you used. Your tester has a sliding/pump rod on the side of the gauge. Thanks. Great informative video. Seems like Canada has all the good small engine repair videos. I watch DonyBoy and Steve's Saloon. Fortunately, I recently found your videos. I subscribed.
Thanks for the kind words Jay! As for the needle valve tester, you'll have to try copying the stens number and searching. They're hard to come by, but also try ebay. Other than that, I can't be of more help because I know STENS doesn't sell to consumers, only if you have a business account.

Thanks for watching!
So the ones on Amazon with this “new” part number work? I need to order one and wanna be sure.
I always enjoy watching your videos. You explain things in a way that most people can understand. I enjoy watching so thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching Russ!
Great job explaining the process. Very detailed.

Excellent info thanks
You da man, thank so much, perfect I’ve been looking for you . Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Merry Christmas
Nice job, Teflon tape turns to goo when exposed to gasoline, Teflon pipe dope paste can be had that is gasoline safe.
I don't even think it needed it, but I ran it anyways, and yes the pipe dope is superior for use around fuel valves/fittings.
Thanks for watching!
Very nicely done, subbed.
Thanks for watching Robert!
Great video thanks for the info
Thanks for watching Aldric!
No problem
Good day Interesting video. Like with the bolt or shaft for air cleaner, showing how to do it. Thanks for now.
Thanks for watching Don!
I changed my carb on my briggs 12 horse just same way you did.tried starting plug got soaked gas sitting in little bowl by choke flap

Really there's a walbro that will work, cool.
Good video , it is better to use a wrench on a easy out because you get a better feel on whats happening .
I did that 1st and all I could feel was resistance hahaha so I decided to use the impact and just bored out the main jet lol that thing wasn't coming out of there!
Will this carb fit a 8hp Briggs as well, if not what number would you recommend. Thankyou

The choke is on the opposite side on the new carburetor. How did you set up the linkage to control it?
I forget, watch part 2

Amazon, just use the part number and look them up.

Jay - You might have found the tester by now, but if you haven't Amazon has it and it's called "Stens 750-230 OEM Pressure Gauge 30psi, Black" $38.90.
hi , can we swap a caburatoe from a 12 HP to 11Hp briggs motor
Will you be able to get a carb kit for this knock-off carb?
Yes Tommy, they are essentially identical.
Ebay has them for 27. $
Hey i am pretty sure i live near you , an would like to pay you to look at a craftsman 944 snowblower
Located in Port Colborne!
Didnt work. Dumps gas out the front of the carb like a quarter cup.
I live in Windsor I order my parts from propartsdirect.net and Stern.com as well like you Amazon.ca and Amazon.usa
