It drives like an EV because it is an EV, below 70 km/hr. Below 70 km/hr the engine only charges the battery. At speeds above 70 km/hr the engine can engage directly with the front axle, to provide additional power and torque, but only to the front wheels, via a single speed gearbox.

It's a 2.4 litre ENGINE, not a 2.4 litre motor.
