There were House reps carrying fake elector ballots to Congress on Jan 6 when Biden was being certified hoping that somehow Pence will throw out the official elector ballots from swing states and accept the fake ones. Most states (besides Maine and Nebraska) award their electors based on a winner take all system, meaning whoever wins the popular vote in a state gets all that states electors.
When it’s time to elect the president, let's say most people in your state vote for the Republican candidate. That means the Republican Party’s electors will now vote for President and vice president on behalf of your entire state.
Thus, when you vote in a presidential election, you indirectly cast your state’s vote for president by choosing a slate of electors who vote on behalf of the state for the candidate that won your state.

I'm sitting here in Canada, and while we are nowhere near perfect people with our own issues, I can't help but be amazed at the things I take for granted. Voting, being the main. The election for the president of the United States of America is conducted through the electoral college. This means that when you cast your vote via ballot, you are not voting for a candidate, but rather a set of electors sworn to choose that candidate.
In Michigan, there is a winner takes all policy, meaning whichever candidate wins the popular vote has their electors cast their vote for the chosen candidate.
The GOP did not win the popular vote in Michigan, therefor, these people are not electors. The electors for the Democratic Party, per Article 1 Section 2 of the US constitution, are the ones entrusted to assign Michigan’s electoral votes, as they won the popular vote.
The ONLY other time electors of different parties have been allowed to contribute their votes, or even have them taken in, is in case of recount, where there is a chance that the current majority is not the party decided by the popular vote.
Tl:Dr, these people are not electors due to the fact they were not chosen by the state of Michigan.

These fake electors are committing several federal crimes and will likely be answering some very serious charges soon- preparing fake documents, signing their names to them, submitting them to the federal government as legit.

The states have the right to choose their electors, and the people outside were NOT CHOSEN. They had to restrict access to the chamber because of literal death threats against the actual electors. Republican Electors have the Constitutional right to Cast there Votes. There is Precedent in history. It has been done before. It is then up to Congress to ratify the situation.

If Republicans wanted to play dirty and put loyalists in their electoral colleges that would vote Trump no matter what they should have done it right off the bat. If they wanted Trump loyalists and not electors who pledge to represent their state and it's votes they needed to open with that move not try to close with it.
