Technically I think he meant lower than the average proportion of deaths per cases for the whole world, i.e. the US is better on average than the world is in general at keeping people from dying ONCE they actually catch Covid... he's got a point. But then he completely ignores the fact that there are so many deaths as a proportion of the population, which itself is really THE issue. In order to stop those many deaths, you need to stop so many people actually catching it in the first place, something the US is very bad at, and as a result, more people are dying.

Trump makes these kind of grammatical errors all the time. His English is literally below the standard of an average grade schooler. Every time he refers to something his administration has donde he refers to it as the “best of the best”, “the most important thing for the past 10 years” , blah blah blah. It actually doesn’t surprise me the way he compared his accomplishments to those of Jhon Lewis’. Is it really that hard to be a bit humble for once in a lifetime? such a sad and disappointing interview -as many others.
