I played and finished this game on Mame Plus+ with a keyboard on my PC. The main achievement here is not finishing the game the fastest and breaking a world record; the main goal is showing you the details overlooked for years, the location of secret prisoners and bonus points by the fastest way.

HEY!.. * You gain invisibility for 2 seconds when you enter a vehicle or exit. (also when you get fat, when you get diet and lose weight and also when you're gliding with the parachute). You don't die in these 2 seconds even though you've been hit by bullets or a bomb. This feature applies all Metal Slug games. After all, they want you to use this power in the game. Otherwise it's impossible to get pass the Final Bosses from MS2 and MS3.
** Boss prisoners are not secret. They help the ones who are having trouble passing the level, by providing them weapons and bombs (sometimes extra points). If I stop and wait for them while playing at Speedrun pace, it may cause dissatisfaction and extend the video's length.
*** The slow motion feature that can be seen in the 3rd game can also be seen in the original MS2. It was like this when I was playing the game on the arcade, and it's still like this when I'm playing on my computer...
Ever since I was 7 years old, I dreamt of doing a perfect run of Metal Slug.
Tonight, I finally succeeded. It was HARD as hell, took hundreds of runs, but I f**king did it!

The Shotgun is my favorite weapon of the bunch just blasting the shit out of everything for 10 seconds then dying is so satisfying

He probably ment secrets in hostages only, but skipped the part where the hostages bonus were calculated, very weird to leave that out 🤔
There's something? Cuz when i was shooting up at the beginning of mission don't reveals a stuff, perhaps is depending the versions or something like that

The sphinx's secret is from Metal slug 2 and its need shoot the one of the eyes of the sphinx its from the second level of metal slug 2

I like that you can bounce off missiles with the brief invincibility from hopping out of a Metal Slug or a turret. I think this should be an actual thing in future MS games or similar games, minus the requirement of having to get out of a vehicle first.

when i was a kid a somehow mess up and put a credit limiter. So down the sccreen it said 4, and for metal slug i somehow left 3 trying to fix it. So I did 4 mision with 1 credit and final misoin with 4. I had to play Tarma as the end.. and did not likt that lol

Damn I used to play this when I was something like 10 years old, actually managed to complete it with very hard grinding. Brings back memories, loved to try this again sometime. Brilliant run btw.
Here's something you don't know: At 3:03 this boss won't start taking damage until after it shoots its first shot.
Can't believe how fast he dealt with Mr T. I usually lose life after life after life at that point.

aww man, this bring back so many memories. i used to play this game with my uncle back in the days, we spent weekends trying to beat this game.
actually in stage 3 boss there's like at least 4 prisoners dropping and gives bomb and ammos. you could have waited before killing the boss
in stage 4 boss there is also 2 prisoners if you could stop the one on the top and bomb him with grenades at the very start of its spawn

I wish I could buy an arcade machines to play at home that would be super awesome. Physical style of playing game is the best thing ever, you need to press buttons and control the joystick in order to play the game not just tapping on the screen like nowadays.
You should get one.
Grab an original cabinet before it's too late. Most of the new cabinets I've seen for sale look like trash.
I remember playing the Anthology on my PS2 and dying A LOT (this game is challenging as hell for me 'cause I have an anxiety problem, can't stay calm with too many enemies on the screen at once)

What is the maximum score in MS without cheating (Mission 5 bug)? my personal best record was 1.5 million but doing the math I estimate is possible at least reach 1.7 million legit... Sorry for my bad english.

what about dark souls
There ought to be a Metal Slug movie.
dark souls has it's craft down to a science but it's style in slow and clunky with a lot of technicality like rings and elements. Metal slug is much simpler and is to be played with lightning reflexes and a keen eye. Both are uniquely difficult.
I wish Metal Slug still got games like this.

In the 3rd stage challenge, if you waited for a while, 2 more hostages would appear. In the 4th stage challenge there were 4 more hostages.

There was 4 hidden prisoners in boss on Mission 3,2 hidden ones in boss on Mission 4 and I think was more 1 in boss on Final Mission.

You know you there's a way to enable the blood on because its an arcade press start and select or coins of you don't have select and the a menu will show and stroll through out the menus until you see the blood select and after wards exit the menus and restart the game over and you should have the blood activated.

Turn on auto fire somewhere in settings
They do if you know what you're doing. The main trick to quick-killing bosses in Metal Slug is to abuse grenades by mashing or autofiring C when crouching in the tank. In human form you can only throw out two grenades on the screen at once (though you can increase your grenade DPS by point blanking). In tank form you can have an arbitrary grenades on the screen, so your grenade DPS goes up massively.
