Disagree. Bosses take too many hits, and the gameplay spams enemies at some point which is more frustrating than fun. It is a game that has so much quantity that quality is lost to a degree. In my opinion the best overall experience is the first Metal Slug
The Xbox 360 version only gives you five credits by default, which makes virtually impossible to beat it on the hardest difficulty, unless you're a meta human like Turkish Bullet 19.
1 and 2 are the hardest because of the Nazca A.I. they were madmen, x was like the beginning of how Metal Slug 3 would be, and 3 is just the best MS in all aspects: Missions & Difficulty.

MS games are the most rewarding when you get to learn how to do a deathless run, I can play through 1 and 3 without spending a single continue, I was trying to learn 2 as well but my PS2 fried amidst the process lmao. I loved this game when I was a kid. I only ever played the first level because I kept dying, but part of the reason why I love monster video games and movies is because of this game. That’s why I love playing games like Helldivers, Deep Rock Galactic, Dead Space, and watching movies like the Aliens, The Thing, Godzilla, Starship Troopers and many more
In all the dozens of runs I've probably done of this game, only completed it with one quarter a few times, maybe only once with no death. You make it look so casually easy!
I played Metal Slug series for a long time, it's my favorite game. I noticed that the heroes are using different handguns: Marco and Tarma are using a semi-automatic pistol possibly M1911 as for Fio and Eri they're using revolver like the Colt Single Action Army

There's so many different routes on that mission, it's easy to miss them. Plus if you play several times and are trying to beat it with as few continues as possible, it's easy to tend towards the routes you already know. The Japanese one is super tough compared to some of the others!
I'm in awe with how you aced those Sol de Roca yellow attacks. Is there any secret to reliably not die on those aside from insanely fast reflexes? I noted that you have it easier being on the center below the jewel as less bullets come after you there compared to the sides.

@Simple15ish I absolutely didn't use any cheats, save states or tools while making this Longplay / Walkthrough video. It sure took a lot of time to practice and study the whole game before making this Walkthrough / Longplay video. I also had to be very patient. Countless runs were ruined while making a No Death/No Slug Damage run Longplay.

Does this not work in retroarch? x, 2, 4, 5 all work fine. 3 loads, then black screen and I can hear the coins enter, or it says "calander error". I've tried every available bios and setting as well as about 20 different versions of the game. Nothing works.

I have played and recorded the Arcade version of "Metal Slug 3" on my Personal Computer through an Arcade Emulator called "MAME" (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator). Never played a Metal Slug game in my life, but are the player hitboxes really that generous? Mission 4 boss' wolf spirit attacks and the giant robot boss attack patterns when you had a vehicle with you looked like they should have hit you, even with the enter/exit invincibility frames. The clone Fios that were meleeing couldn't hurt you while you were in the vehicle, but I had to guess the hurtbox was Marco's sprite. If that's really how the game is, you have bigger balls than I do my friend.

I played Metal Slug series for a long time, it's my favorite game. I noticed that the heroes are using different handguns: Marco and Tarma are using a semi-automatic pistol possibly M1911 as for Fio and Eri they're using revolver like the Colt Single Action Army
I remember playing this on the Anthology collection for Wii I love doing the zombie alien level

Holy cow that japanese route looks ridiculous I've never seen that before! I thought I knew this game well! Looked like a nightmare!
There's so many different routes on that mission, it's easy to miss them. Plus if you play several times and are trying to beat it with as few continues as possible, it's easy to tend towards the routes you already know. The Japanese one is super tough compared to some of the others!

I'm in awe with how you aced those Sol de Roca yellow attacks. Is there any secret to reliably not die on those aside from insanely fast reflexes? I noted that you have it easier being on the center below the jewel as less bullets come after you there compared to the sides.

Unfortunately, there are no secrets, hints or tips when "Sol Dae Rokker" is attacking with his yellow spikes. I had to watch out, observe carefully and do my best to dodge the yellow spikes since these will fire always at random.

I enjoy the longplay with all paths & secrets shown (along with highest scoring to boost) on the hardest difficulty !

I absolutely didn't use any cheats, save states or tools while making this Longplay / Walkthrough video.
It sure took a lot of time to practice and study the whole game before making this Walkthrough / Longplay video. I also had to be very patient. Countless runs were ruined while making a No Death/No Slug Damage run Longplay.

Also maybe you should consider putting it in the title (no damage / hit) too, since i was searching for Metal Slug games for "no death run" and your video didn't show up, so i ended up watching 3 others people played before i found yours xD (Reason i searched for no death run was because i was watching some Mega mans earlier on the no damage run).
But after that i've been watching all your Metal Slug from 1-5 now, and continuing on to the 6th !

Yes, Metal Slug 7 (Nintendo DS), Metal Slug XX (PlayStation Portable) and Metal Slug Advance (Game Boy Advance) are already included on my "Longplays to do" list but it will take some time because I'm doing a lot of Longplays of different video games at the moment and many of them are work in progress.
I'm currently busy with Metal Gear Solid (Sony PlayStation) and Cold Fear (Sony PlayStation 2). When it's done, I will be busy with Devil May Cry (Sony PlayStation 2), Viewtiful Joe (Sony PlayStation 2), Silent Hill (Sony PlayStation), Resident Evil 4 (Nintendo GameCube), Dino Crisis 2 (Sony PlayStation), ObScure (Sony PlayStation 2) and Virtua Cop (Sega Saturn).
When it's all done, I will create a Poll again about "Which Longplay shall I do next?" and add more different video games (which were requested by my Subscribers) back into that Poll. I will let the voting and decision to my Subscribers again. 😊👍🏻

Oh yes, I have watched the video (titled: Metal Slug 2 World Record live on Arcade 08/12/19) which you posted on my "Metal Slug 2: Super Vehicle-001/II (Arcade) - (Longplay - Tarma | Level 8 Difficulty | All Secrets)" video.
He missed or forgot to save a few Prisoners of War but he surely knows how to play Metal Slug. 😊👍 Although, he was not able to complete the game by getting a Game Over in the end, he definitely showed a lot of effort, determination, dedication and perseverance. 😊👍

En la misión 3 cuando elijo la ruta de los submarinos mínimo llegan de 3 x lado lado de la pantalla disparando más de 2 torpedos. Aquí solo llegan uno o 2 y no llegan ni siquiera atacando al jugador

Does this not work in retroarch? x, 2, 4, 5 all work fine. 3 loads, then black screen and I can hear the coins enter, or it says "calander error". I've tried every available bios and setting as well as about 20 different versions of the game. Nothing works.

Oh, I have never tried to play the Arcade version of Metal Slug 3 on RetroArch so I really have no clue about that.
I have played and recorded the Arcade version of "Metal Slug 3" on my Personal Computer through an Arcade Emulator called "MAME" (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator).

This is a "Longplay" and not a "Speedrun" video.
A longplay is a play-through of a video game, created with the intent of completing it as fully as possible, mainly for the purposes of nostalgia, preservation, and possibly as a walkthrough. Also, for people who are unable or unwilling to play a certain game, yet wish to know and experience its story, a longplay can be viewed simply as a long digitally animated movie.
Unlike speedruns, there is no time constraint aside from those imposed by bandwidth/filesize concerns. Likewise, a longplay is distinct from a Let's Play, in that there tends to be little to no commentary on the game from the player.
When I was doing this Longplay / Walkthrough my goals were:
-Killing All Enemies in the entire game
-Showing All Secrets
-Collecting All Items
-Saving All Prisoners of War
-No Death
-No Slug Damage

What a stupid game!
Never played a Metal Slug game in my life, but are the player hitboxes really that generous? Mission 4 boss' wolf spirit attacks and the giant robot boss attack patterns when you had a vehicle with you looked like they should have hit you, even with the enter/exit invincibility frames. The clone Fios that were meleeing couldn't hurt you while you were in the vehicle, but I had to guess the hurtbox was Marco's sprite. If that's really how the game is, you have bigger balls than I do my friend.
