I played and finished this game on Mame Plus+ with a keyboard on my PC. The main achievement here is not finishing the game the fastest and breaking a world record; the main goal is showing you the details overlooked for years, the location of secret prisoners and bonus points by the fastest way.

MSX is hardened and remixed official version of MS2... Same maps are edited with different enemies and many different secrets are included in the game. Such that I got many comments from the viewers that confused these 2 games regarding that I skipped some of the secrets in my MS2 video. I prepared this video so that I can resolve the confusion and also put an end to the series.

In the 2nd level if you don't kill bats, at the end in the chest you'll find the golden one
In 1:28 a 30,000 pts yellow jewel appears on that wooden path at the right of the flag.

To be honest, this game is so good, that I think it was actually created in the future, but the creators decided to pixelate it no one would be suspicious of the insanely high details.
Respect to the kamikaze soldier who stopped the invasion.

25:04 even here you can appreciate how much effort has been put into Metal Slug X. There's a jet fighter engaging in combat with a flying saucer and they both get destroyed after they collide with each other. Such little details are amazing.

At 11:46 you can actually hear the glass of the martian space craft breaking from the Stone! What an insane attention to detail, this is something they could've easily just ignored because its just a bomb but they went an extra mile to put that detail in.. just cus!

My late father and I defeated the original Metal Slugs more than once. Wish he was here to play this one. He would have loved it.

MS 1, X, and 3 have official ports on Android. The rest of the series are not available, only through emulation (MAME, FBA, FBNeo, PPSSPP, Aethersx2, Dolphin)
The soundtrack is absolutely amazing.

So much action, so many weapons, so many characters, a bunch of secrets, all topped off with giant screen sized bosses! What is there not to like 😃
I even remember that with my uncle we always went to the machinists to play and he could spend everything I didn't and you reminded me of those times and how hard it was you have my respects
No one comment about 1:13 when alien was killed after you shoot down the building?
I noticed too. Probably foreshadowing about aliens being involved later on in the game and the next games

TARMA R; always the best when handling a shotgun, and if you're descent enough to keep the slugs, he gets double damage using them.
ERI K; always the best when handling a laser gun, and if you're a heavy bomb user, her bombs are stronger than others.
FIO G; always the best when handling a rocket launcher, and if the fact that most guns have a small amount of ammo bothers you, Fio is the one with the most ammo. (In some games she does more damage with all guns but without the ammo boost)

I remember this game so fondly. One time, when I was 9, my mom took me to the bank. She convinced me to empty my college savings and we headed to the arcade. Her and I got ice cream while she emptied her purse full of quarters into the metal slug arcade game. She beat the game that day. I even got to watch the whole time! Every now and again while I’m on break from the handee-mart, I’ll stop by and check out her high scores. That ice cream was so good!

I remember this game from childhood, playing it on an arcade machine at the reception of a French caravan/camping holiday resort. I spent 90% of the family holiday in that reception area, throwing Francs (before the Euro) into the machine only to lose at the helicopter levels. A simpler time..
