  • This is the legendary Beartooth Highway. Ride with us the 35 awe inspiring miles from historic Cooke City, Montana to the 10,947' summit of Beartooth Pass, Wyoming. Starting in Cooke City the highway winds through the forest offering occasional views of the Absaroka Mountains before beginning its steep climb to the picturesque Long Lake. From Long Lake the fun really begins as the highway zigzags madly through the rock strewn alpine scenery to the summit of Beartooth Pass. Beartooth Highway is on every Motorcycle ride top ten list in North America for good reason, and after this ride, you will know why.

      Hello Lily. I want to tell you how much I like your comment, it really means a lot to me. When I build my videos both the motorcycle and the vintage videos, I try to create an experience that people can just sit back and lose themselves in the ride, the highway, the scenery. I strive to create a 10 minute or so escape for the viewer, in our fast paced world we all need to take 10 minutes once and awhile.
      Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment, it is very much appreciated, reading the great comments I get help calm my anxiety! I will probably be using your comment on my Facebook page Dry Rock Studios.

    Thank you, Robert. I've been incredibly lucky to have done the Beartooth twice over the past 3 years, and it remains one of the most memorable rides in my journey through CO, ID, WY, MT, SD, AZ, and NM. And there is no question that riding through those remarkable states is best done on a motorcycle - no better way to see the US! Thanks very much for your ride guides.

    I planted My Momma at 10,955 ft ON/IN Beartooth on July 25, 2009... She would have enjoyed the scenery and certainly would have pee'd her brritches on several of them turns going up...

      August temps are really comfy. Lows in the morning are just above freezing but highs into the mid 60's. Remember by mid September this highway usually gets closed because of winter conditions so don't plan the ride to late in the year.

      If heights really bother you you could still do the Cooke City to the Summit portion of this highway. Just don't continue on to Red Lodge from the Summit.

    I just went across the Bear tooth from top end of Yellowstone to Red Lodge. I did not enjoy it. Had I realized what it was I would not have. I'm 65 and a bagger is not easy to hold up in those turns going slow. Same opinion I had of 129. I'm glad some people enjoy it. I did not.

    I have driven it over 20 times in my 50 years. Don't camp at the TOP OF THE WORLD CAMP SITE..... nose bleeds too high.... barley any O2 to make a campfire.....froze my ass at night fingerling fish....keep going to Cooke City......

    Don't know what your SPEED was...BUT...I've enjoyed this same ride (watching both ROAD and SCENERY) at a slightly SLOWER speed.
    BTPass is pretty spectacular...and for me to say that (I'm from Colorado)...says a lot.
    A ride you shouldn't miss.

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 лет назад +1

      Wow, beauty! I really admire the Indians, they really have done a great job of being retro which means it will fit right in with your T's but unlike them it will keep up with traffic no problem. Someday when I replace the liner it might be with the Indian Roadmaster, but that is quite a ways off.
      Happy riding and stay safe!

    Robert, great videos! How is your camera mounted so stable?

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 лет назад +1

      It's a trade secret!
      But seriously, the camera is hard mounted to a counterweight that is bolted through the center of a piece of fairly rigid rubber. The rubber is bolted around it's perimeter to a metal mount located on my left mirror stalk. It took a bit of experimenting to make it work well but the results are satisfactory. It gives vibration dampening and inertia dampening. It will cost you a visit to my Facebook page to see a picture at: facebook.com/dryrockstudios/photos/a.453336891456077.1073741828.451931728263260/872346102888485/?type=3&theater
