I produced this video in the 1990's and updated it in 2004. I am happy to see that it is still working. Even after many trips, the highway always reveals something new. Now I get to show it to my grandchildren.
I drove the Beartooth Highway in 1978 with my bride to be. I still often reflect of its awesome beauty and the wonderful time we had there. It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful example of nature I have ever seen. We will return there.
Have made this trip twice. In June of 1978 with my folks when I was 15 and then again in July of 2014 with my wife. The words breathtaking do not do this drive justice. I would encourage everyone to take it in at least once in their lifetime.
Rode Beartooth Pass by motorcycle along with 2 others in June 2014 overnight stay at Soda Butte Lodge in Cook City .Beautiful scenic ride with snow cap mountains . will travel Beartooth Pass again via travel trailer to camp along the National Park to see more of it's beauty .
I was on Beartooth Highway on 8 6 15 traveling from Billings to Cooke City. As long as I have lived in Montana ( 60 years ) Im still amazed and appreciative of the beauty. We passed by a grizzly on the way and I got pictures of him. Then a couple hours later we came back the same way and Ill be danged if he was not still there. If you have not driven here, you seriously should consider it.
We did the Beartooth Highway in June 2014. Great for sure! So much enjoyed the ride that Sunday afternoon. Great video here that makes us want to go back someday!
This is probably my favorite place in the world. Grew up in Cody and we used to go camping near the plateau every summer. We even spent a week in the sunlight basin on the way to there for school one year.
just finished the same trip on August 30, 2015. What a ride! Too bad we saw no grizzlies but were surprised to still see ice on the mountain top at the end of August. It was the highlight of a 4000 mile trip.
I try to drive it every summer. Sometimes its still closed in June and start of July. Its a totally amazing drive... spectacular!! If you drive it, heed the speed limits....
Drove this road from Yellowstone to Red Lodge and beyond June of 2017. Incredible. My Vette hugged those switchbacks without skipping a beat. Honestly, I have not had this much fun driving in over 30 years. Thought I had it all on my GoPro only to find it had shut off. Did the whole pass (60+ miles) in under an hour. Got some snaps along the way but have to go back to stop and smell the roses.... get more photos. I was so impressed I am thinking of moving out there. Absolutely gorgeous.
Stumbled thru this highway on the way back from YellowStone to Minneapolis on 4th July this year. The views are amazing, indeed it surpasses everything. The Beauty of YellowStone National Park is nothing compared to the beauty of this scenic drive. However the drive was very scary
sounds like there's alotta grizzlies up there. iffin' I ever get up there and see a grizzly, I'm gonna take a selfie with him for my facebook page! or even better: a picture of me with a grizzly cub. bears are so cuddly!
They just repaved this road as of August last year (2017) Nice and thick. While it might be great fun again for motorcycles, while half the pavement was 10" lower and grooved with one lane still oozing oil making the surface awful for traction, it was not for the feint of heart.
We are going to spend several days, maybe a week, boondocking in our fifth wheel somewhere along the Beartooth Highway in July of 2017. We are 71 and 75 respectively but love hiking up to several miles depending on elevation gain. Any thoughts or warnings on this plan would be appreciated.

I always stay in Cooke City, then hit Beartooth area, then go into Yellowstone Park, making Cooke City my base during my stay.
I drove this with a 5th wheel, it was pretty intense! Awesome road to drive!
FifthWheelFeel we did the same thing, except it was 12am and storming like hell
Concerning the credits music "It's beautiful, what do you mean it's horrible, what's wrong with you? Listen to it." - 4 yo kid.

Beartooth is one heck of a drive, but sooo beautiful. Returning this fall to once again explore what WY and MT has to offer.
It's a shame big rigs are not allowed on this highway but I can see why beautiful country
Such a special place! I'm doing a small educational project, may I use a few seconds of this clip?

If your wondering who's narrating with the familiar voice, It's John Forsythe.
Actually, the narrator is Henry Strozier.
Looked more like, packing horses 🐎 what kind of man makes a horse carry him and his supply 😢
Much better if you don't have to be the driver.
22 New York City dumbasses hit the dislike LOL
It is pronounced AB-SA-ROKA not Ab zorka.
Everybody in Wyoming says Abzorka. Care to pronounce Dubois, Wyoming?
Why not mention Silver Gate?????? Also don't camp at the top of the World, Nose bleeds.........
Nosebleeds keep idiot California tourists away. As does no permit open and concealed carry in Wyoming.
Typical "old school" documentary, talk-talk-talk, click after cliche.Put on some good music and watch without the sound track.
You're either a millennial or an idiot. Your brain is full of music soundtracks and no information.
@@larrysmith6797 I agree. Milton Roberts is an idiot.
It's nothing but Rock! Great Smokey Mountains are better. I've been to Yellowstone not impressed.
agree completely
Please stay away. It's shitty. Don't come up here. Dollywood is better!
