Toby Smith and his unique chord progressions was even more important. Zender brought the craziness and groove, and is more talented than Toby. But Toby Smith was the co-writer and composer with Jay, and brought that unique sound that the band had on the first 4 albums (and some tracks of "A Funk Odyssey"). You can feel on the album Dynamite, that Jamiroquai was not Jamiroquai anymore but a great classic funk band, that has lost its sound, because Toby was not there anymore.
I would hate the same thing. He probably has social anxiety disorder like I do. Lol one of the biggest things to freak people out who have that is being made the center of attention ; freaks me out and makes me self conscious. 😖
@Vegetta 777speedc; I think we can all agree that we cast a shadow but for some unfortunate among us... They can feel it. Unpleasant doesn't even begin to describe what they may not be able to control unless the practice of cognitive behavioral therapy is always improvised and adapted to every different scenario. Otherwise what used to work doesn't and what you allude to becomes very very real. Don't joke man. There's nothing worse than feeling helpless to help someone suffering.
One of the travesties of the last few decades has to be why these guys couldn’t put aside their differences and continue to play together for the good of the music and the band, they went to light/disco/pop after Zender left. They really had it and yes the bass led the entire band. But no doubt when they got huge egos must’ve got in the way.
I will admit, RDLS was kinda asscheeks lowkey 🥶 But Automaton was good, especially for its time - I think Jami was hoping on the synthwave / funk rock sound that was quite popular during the late ‘10s, and they made it work. And don’t forget about Dynamite, I think that’s their best record since Zender left the band. But I miss him just as much as the rest of the Jamily does, it would be nice to see them all reunite and let bygones be bygones. 🙏
have to say paul turner is doing a great job ...he pays respect to stuart...when a band member leaves you can stop or go on...they carried on...they fly the flag for funk music...even to this day they are a very tight band...❤ from ireland..
Stuart Zender thumb plucking is reminiscent of the great bassman LARRY GRAHAM of Sly and the Family Stone and then Bootsy Collins of James Brown Band, the P Funk of George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. Probably was influenced by them. PROPS.
The question is not who is recorded... the question is about the composer of these mazing baselines... And each time it's Stuart Zender... I am a Pro Stuart... just look at my name !
@Davie504 Stuart Zender is the best Bass Player and Bass Composer in the World. Davie504 will never beat Stuart Zender because Davie504 does not play Jamiroquai bass covers because of copyright claims.
I cannot believe he started playing bass at 16 & here he is at 19 playing with Jamiroquai?? wtf🤯
Pure talent and lots of practice!
I cannot believe he stopped playing at 29 . And it is more concerning
Jamiroquai will never be the same without Stuart... Believe me
One of the funkiest bass players ever. Salute sir!
Stuart Zender I always said he was one of the best bassist of all time,he is the man and the sound of Jamiroquai.
@Smokey McBongington Who cares what you think.

@@alexandrostype-2211 They were a very underrated band.
@@rio8555 Yes especially in the US, in Europe/Japan they were huge in the second half of the 90's, first years of the 2000's

In all my years of listening to music I’ve never heard anyone play like Stuart Zender! Wow!
try Les Claypool of Primus
really? Marcus, Victor, Larry, Stanley, Louis among others.
The earliest band was the best. I miss the horn section!

I wish I went to one of their live concerts, just to see my Stuart play! ❤️❤️❤️
It's quite funny seeing this now cuz I just read an interview where he talked about how he hated being put on the spot by Jay having to play solos 😂😂
Heartbeatzofficial do you have the link of the interview ?
I would hate the same thing. He probably has social anxiety disorder like I do. Lol one of the biggest things to freak people out who have that is being made the center of attention ; freaks me out and makes me self conscious. 😖
All introverted people feel this...

Well if Jay didn't do that...maybe today people wouldn't regard him so high...if Jay did that is because he knew zender was a one of a kind.

0:25 - 0:44 ---> the way he change the atmosphere with that bass is amazing
He is not Zender, is Nick Fyfee
@pogviuemper ok my fault 😅😅
50% the sound of Jamiro
or more...
Most drums are 50 percent of a band imo.
du feeling plutôt! du groove !
exactly
Not really he only played on their first three albums. Arguably their best albums. I’d say toby and Derek had equal an influence on the sound overall.

Stuart zender un maestrazo en el bajo
Uno de los mejores bajistas de la historia. Una pena que se haya tenido que ir de Jamiroquai.
Hes the driving force as is any bass player. I'm a biased bass player
He's sooooo cute
