Consider that G1 Jetfire’s base mold, Takatoku Toy’s VF-1 Valkyrie, was released in its first deco to coincide with the release of the Super Dimensional Fortress Macross anime in 1983…at the same time as most of the Diaclone cars/Waruder bugs and Microchange toys were released pre-Transformers. This thing was a god damn *sledgehammer* of engineering for its day. No(real) partsforming? Little undercarriage (that even then IS screen accurate to its source material)? A fully humanoid robot form? Non-essential articulation? Damn, Shoji Kawamori and co, this thing went hard by early 80s toy standards. You know it’s a good design when nearly 40 years later, most modern Valks use more or less the same transformation as the original toy.

Not sure if someone mentioned this, but Metroplex and the 86 Combiner teams were all originally partvof a cancelled Jizai Gattai ("freely combine") Diaclone subline and the torsos of the 86 Combiners are all designed to combine with Metroplex's city mode. Silverbot's fold out stabilising foot and the back of Onslaughts head both plug into slots on Metroplex's kneepads, while the 2 tabs on Hotspot's butt and the purple tab on Motormaster's butt, are acutally designed to plug into the loops on the insides of Metroplex's legs in robot mode. Btw, and you're really going to hate me for this. That isn't the grail version of Motormaster. The original Japanese releases of Onslaught, Silverbolt and Motormaster, all featured spring loaded launchers in base mode. That black strip on the base of Motormaster's base mode is where the launcher goes and its why there's that weird grey post that's springy and appears to do nothing on the Hasbro version. The Encore Bruticus release included the launcher version of Onslaught, however the Takara versions of Silverbolt and Motormaster are still rare as hens teeth. Funnily enough the Containercar and Fighterplnce KO sets, do feature the launcher versions of Motormaster and Silverbolt respectively.

The die cast content on this is the same (feet and hood of the jeep). Your memory is playing tricks on you. What you thought was metal, like on the legs and front wheel struts, was actually vacuum-metalised chromed plastic. These releases are meant to be animation accurate (so everything that used to be chromed is now that dull grey colour), however there were toy accurate deco reissues from over a decade ago though. Long story sbort; clothes pin springs. I had a g1 Jetfire back in '99 careful took the shoulder apart and cut the spring to fit.
Did the same thing for the red and green lions of the Voltron i had gotten around the same time.
And they held up, in place, and had a nice click where there had been nothing.

It is good to see the younger people appreciating the g1 figures, however because they are approaching 40 years old, finding ones complete and or non broken "" original figures" are hard to find. Reissues are the the way to go. Some people do gravitate towards KO for the originals that will never be reissued which I am not greatly opposed to as long as they are marketed as KOs and not originals and have something on the figure indicating as such. 3D printing is a great way to help replace parts that were missing over the years as well.
The Siege Jetfire was in my opinion better than the Masterpiece, unfortunately in the aftermarket you are now paying Masterpiece prices for him.

I'm giving you a like because I like your channel, but I don't like that you call out that these toys are older than you cause it makes me feel old. I don't like feeling old, but I love the young blood coming into the fandom. You're what keeps it goes and keeps it improving!
Also, my first statement is meant in jest. I'm just teasing. I know that doesn't always come across in text. :)

I have a handful of original G1 toys in my collection and I'd love to get more. But some of the prices I've seen are just ridiculous. I can usually justify spending $70-80 on a brand new studio series, but how can I justify $120 for a used, unboxed Sunstreaker? Plus another $135 if I want Sideswipe to go with him. Had some steals though. Got a G1 Prowl, Smokescreen & Mirage for $110 including shipping. No boxes or instructions for any of them. I also have 2 of the original G1 Constructicons, and as much as I'd love to complete that set, there's no way in all the hells that I can justify $298 for a chance of getting maybe decent ones.

Didn’t buy any Hound renditions yet - I like Siege Hound, though. I ended up getting Thrilling 30 Jetfire and TR Galvatron as G1 stand-ins, though I have an original Jetfire. The Revell Macross models were even more fragile I have an original G1 Motormaster… I think G1 Onslaught is the only semi bot, I don’t…no, wait, Octane, too. I’ve seen a 3D-printed prototype G1 Arcee - Hasbro could do it. Thrilling 30 Arcee is my current G1 Arcee, and she’s OK, but her ankles are very loose. I’m a “G0”-fan, because I came from Micronauts (need reissue?). Loved the Powerdasher reissues - I have them all. G1 has been fun, but I think reissues have bothered other-generation fans. Also, Blockmen reissue? We need those…
