I just wanted to say thank you for this. Andrew was my best friend, and he would have loved knowing he had this kind of impact. We used to watch your videos, and he always spoke highly of you. This meant a lot to his family to see the people he reached.
He used to talk about you a lot, even would call us Andrew by accident thinking he was talking to you. He was such a knowledgeable and passionate individual and he'll be missed by all.
See this right here. This warms my heart. Getting to see people who have come together around this fandom about some chunks of plastic that flip around from robots to whatever else. The fact that these little things can be a catalyst for such strong friendships and inspiration is just amazing
As an older collector, G1 as in was the first generation of kids in the 80's to experience this amazing phenomenon, it warms my heart seeing younger fans like yourself take the franchise forward while being a part of the original community of fans also forming lasting friendships. He will live on with us through his art and all that knew him. Every time you look at a G1 toy you'll remember him and that's timeless. His designs are amazing and maybe some insane toy maker that saw your vid will take up that offer... Til all are one, brother.
I never knew Andrew Sorohan, but I did enjoy looking at the concept art he made and I do hope his memory is honored in some way. I honestly have nothing to give but my condolences to his family.
My father recently passed away also in an unexpected way. He also loved Transformers and really liked Andrew's art so to get this news... damn, it really hits you. But to end on a positive note, I believe that a good way to honor their memory is by carrying on with their hobbies and to cherish all the good memories you had with them. May they rest in peace, all finally as one. Awesome video mate!
Never knew Andrew, but having a friend to actually go one on with about childhood hobbies is one of the most precious attributes a person can attribute to this world. Everyone should have a friend like him. Not big into G1 collecting but I appreciate the chrome/rubber wheels on a lot of the early era toys. The Mircrobots are awesome. I have that Warpath, Brawn, Gears, and a G2 era Bumblebee.
I never knew Andrew but I’ve always respected and admired his work, he was a legitimately creative guy, it seemed he could make anything work, it’s legitimately admirable, I don’t think anyone in the TF community will ever replicate the creativity he had
I gonna miss Andrew, he was always drawing interesting and creative concepts for toys and those background chars. from the g1 cartoon, he was 1 on a million :(
I can't say i knew him well or was close to him, but from the few conversations I've had with him he seemed like a great guy, he will be missed by many and my best wishes to his friends and family
We have a tribute to Andrew in this review and Perspective End's review today. I don't know anything about the guy, but seems like he had quite an impact on the community. RIP.
Now in my 40's I find the original Season 1 and 2 toys to be classic and something to appreciate as display pieces on the shelf, post movie toys not as much. As toys to play with due to a lack of articulation they weren't great. However despite the vast improvement with modern Transformers Hasbro's distribution sucks. If you're a UK Collector then most of your collection is going to be imports.
Warpath was always my favourite Mini Autobot when I was a kid. I love that you can transform him in about 2 seconds. Had to get him again when I saw him at a convention...
I actually think that G1 Blitzwing is still the best version of that character. Also, I loved the G1 Ratchet and Ironhide toys back in the day, and I still do, no matter the weirdness.
I remember hanging out with Andrew a few times, the first time was for several hours while he drew different Optimus decos. What a guy, that man. I had no idea he passed because I haven't been around the discord that much but oh my God will I miss him and his gorgeous art. Til all are one, homie. Til all are one
Hey if you got that blitzwing off of eBay There are reissues of the g1 design but it could be a knock off and the hands could be hard to get out and the right leg
learnt about andrew's passing yesterday, and was deeply saddened. I also happened to of gotten my first g1 fig today, which is quite a sad, but memorable coincidence.
I'd honestly recommend getting either some of the new Dianauts, or the ones that Vecma released, if you have a few of the properly scaled Diaclone remakes. It's kinda fun adding the figures into the vehicles and base modes. (And the articulation on those newer, little dudes is INSANE.)
4:30 A third generation “C3” Corvette to be precise, it was made from I want to say the early 70s through the early 80s, While I agree on the aesthetics of the C3 (they are beautiful cars) they have a mixed reputation amongst gear heads and huge corvette buffs as the C3 stuck around much longer than it really should’ve and was a poster child for the ill-remembered late 70s era of American Cars which were choked of power and were not (generally speaking) made the best. I have quite a few Tracks myself (being a bit of a corvette buff) but I actually prefer the Road Rage Repaints!
I grew up with G1 in the 80s and I'm just now starting to collect them again. I lost all of my originals 2003 in a house fire. I just got a reissue Soundwave that I absolutely love and some more on the way
He always had the most interesting art, I got all the wfc trilogy Micromasters because he inspired me to. I would've never known about some characters without him. And I finally found someone else who loved hearts of steel as much as I did. He was so damn creative.
If you want a version of the medsled that is better than earthrise or masterpiece then get energon towline. Sure he's got the energon gimmick of being able to power link but it's thanks to that that his sled thrives because of it and so does his robot. Legitly best-looking robot in all of energon
I have a similar story to that tracks breaking on you right out of the box because I got a smoke screen reissue and almost immediately his arm broke off luckily I was able to glue the arm on in such a way where it doesn't affect transformation at all but I feel the pain
I started collecting G1 figures a few months ago and they feel high quality compared to the newer toys, at least the figures I bought feel really good with the diecast on them. Just bought a G1 Metroplex with the rubber wheels, out of box, complete with box, plastic isn't yellowing, but no stickers. So far it's my crown jewel. Trying to find a G1 Trypticon, but that thing is even more expensive than what I paid for Metroplex.
I have an original g1 hotrod and he's a blast to transform, super fun. I wish a third party or Hasbro came up with g1 transformers who look like the original figures but with more articulation. Mine even has the leg stickers, suck it nerd. If you're careful with the stickers and don't slide the legs like a maniac, the stickers stay on perfectly.
I'm really sorry you've lost your friend buddy. It's a very deep pain, and it'll come and go in intensity. It'll hurt less over time, but then you'll one day randomly see something and be like "I wonder if >>> knows about thi... oh... damn." and it'll hurt again. Growing up means, you lose people more and more, and it always sucks. It hurts, and I'm sorry. We ALL have experienced loss, and can all relate, and hopefully comfort each other. It's good for me, to think about the times we laughed together, or when I was made fun of by, or I made fun of whoever I'm missing that particular day. Just have a laugh for them, and say a quick "miss you my guy" and go on with your day. They don't want us sitting around having a bad day at their expense ya know? Much love man, so sorry.
One of the feet snapped on the Tracks I have. Then one of the hands getting it out and the back of the car broke apart. And it was also a Hasbro reissue.
“Do not grieve. Soon... I will be one with the Matrix.”-Optimus Andrew will always be remembered for his enthusiasm for Transformers and his amazing art.
I have been collecting reissues and knockoffs of G1 Transformers. And there is something charming about their simplicity and I like the cbrome and die cast metal parts. I actually prefer the G1 dinobot toys to the modern ones that try to make them cartoon accurate. Dinobots, Optimus Prime, Shockwave, Soundwave, Blitzwing are G1 toys that I own that I really like.
G1 sideswipe is an amazing G1 my personal favourite. To an untrained eye his countach mode could pass for a hot wheels. He also has an almost perfect robot mode and an extremely detailed head for the time. Extremely satisfying transformation too it is almost like a fidget toy going back and forth.
4:26 maybe because he has some specific memories ,that he hates, with the particular model? I mean its why I can’t stand specific songs that I actually think sounds really good.
I have all the original G1 toys and some reissues. I stopped getting reissues because they break in places that are supposed to be reinforced by die cast metal like Tracks and they are made with cheaper plastics to cut costs. The leg sliders are die cast metal covered with blue plastic.
What are you talking about with Hot Rod stopping time? I feel like the only G1 toys I want are Optimus and Astrotrain. Everything else just looks bad to me. Ratchet case in point. Hot Rod doesn't look too bad though.
I love seeing the original look of Ratchet, despite how weird he looks. I had Ironhide as a kid and I was disappointed when I transformed him. But seeing him like that again brings all the nostalgia back!
May that honorable Andrew R.I.P. I have a few G1 figures, but most of them aren't in the best of shape: some I got at yardsales, and others from like eBay and Amazon, so yeah, when I mean eBay I mean I'm talking about like a used figure of G1 Blitzwing or rare in package Scattershot, from G1 S6 or even a first edition of G1 GoldBug, very rare, with no weapons no nothin, but I recently got a Perfectly New In Package G1 Hot Rod at Walmart for like 10$ and it was on clearance, so go figure that out, which many Walmarts are doing that "Put things on Clearance, to waste Shelf space and take your money!" Gig. But that's not why I bought it, I bought it for my collection of Antique Toys, and my collection is somewhat growing, one would say that, if you will but not the way I would hope some of you would be thinking that I would be, bc I'm just a collector of many things, and plus I have a day/night job wrapped on my paws, and it's called saving the world; with my team of Pups. I'm Ella and I've Gotta Think BIG!!!!!!!!!
G1 toys for me have always been fun desk bots, while they do show their age for me the fun has always been transforming them although I will admit some have some impressive bot modes for their time. Even though I was born in the early 2000s G1 always had my favorite look and the show while simplistic was good fun (Well until the 86 movie LOL). While I don't know much about your friend I do wish him a peaceful rest and happy he influenced you to enjoy some of these figures. Cheers!
My girlfriend bagged me a G1 Menasor, and it’s so fun to see how they compare to the modern ones. Also, Since images of the toys were sent through a fax machine to Sunbow, the art for the Stunticons’ faces on both the box and the cartoon are practically nothing like the toys
So that explains why the 2nd batch of bots looked so ugly in their animation models, and all this time I thought Floro Dery was drunk or lazy when he designed those. 😅
@@COMBOY like the difference is uncanny. Breakdown has a wide visor, Wildrider is supposed to have a face mask instead of Dead End, whom he and Dragstrip just have kinda normal faces, with the latter’s being blue for some reason
Tracks to me looks like more of a 77 or 78 Corvette but he's supposed to be an 82 Corvette. The early 80s Corvettes had steeper curves over on the fenders going over the wheels.
Actually, the G1 transformers toys are genuinely great toys, and it's a shame we don't see the commemorative series on the shelves much these days. Maybe not the most fiction accurate representations of the characters, sure, but solid, chunky, robust and fun.

Indeed my friends, he is now one with the all spark.
I never knew Andrew Sorohan, but I did enjoy looking at the concept art he made and I do hope his memory is honored in some way. I honestly have nothing to give but my condolences to his family.
Rest in peace Andrew. The time I chatted with him on the server will forever be cherished.
Blitzwing cockpit being up front was a mistake by the cartoon animators. The cockpit was always meant to be hidden.
They also mistransformed him. The jet cockpit is supposed to be at the rear of the tank.
Very nice! It's cool to see a video like this by someone who appreciates the G1 line for what it is: fun toys!
My father recently passed away also in an unexpected way. He also loved Transformers and really liked Andrew's art so to get this news... damn, it really hits you.

I will def get my hands on some g1 reissues
I had a teacher that had that Corvette along time ago and it blew up but I also like it
Seaspray is dope. Beachcomber was my fav as a kid
Even as a 7 year old kid, when I got Ratchet, I was thinking “WTF!?!” because I was so disappointed that he looked nothing like the cartoon.

We've lost a walking Transformers encyclopaedia who'll surely be missed.

With Warpath and Blitzwing you can have major tank battles.
