What a fabulous voice , Scott is my favourite singer of all time , My favourite song is Joanna ,but then again he could do no wrong , Fly High With The Angel's Scott xxxx
The girl @1.41 is in love with Scott, do not blame her his voice is amazingly beautiful, he is gorgeous as well. unlike anyone now they all sound the same.
Wow, how wonderful to see this. It's so rare to find footage from Scott from this period. Majestic, other-wordly voice, mastered to perfection. This clip makes me cringe a little, though; knowing how reclusive he was, he must have felt terribly uncomfortable. Love the shy smile at the end; it just screams 'let me outta here'!
guidofski, hi, are you still kicking? We miss you. Much appreciation for your stint as the unofficial-but-competent curator of all-things-Scott Walker for a while. I just came across this rare guidofski comment on another's post and i wondered how you are.
I soooo wish he firstly would still be with us - and secondly would had continued to recored similar songs like this and NOT be releasing recluse songs like the songs from his prev LP Tilt, SIMPLY ADORE his 60s songs. WHY can't his record company release his prev only LP's on CDs!
UNBELIEVABLE. Thank you SO much. I have to wonder: did Sinatra ever sound so beautifully perfect and magical? This stops me cold when I see it. Pure sublimity. xoxoxoxo
This man and his so beautifull voice...inspired so many bigs artists, musicians and singers...as David BOWIE, Brian ENO, David SYLVIAN - ex JAPAN -, Jarvis Coker - PULP -, Bono - U2...etc...etc But '' unfortunately ''...unknown from a big...BIG MAJORITY of people everywhere in the world !!! In the sixties, in did a big carreer in England with his band '' the Walkers brothers '' and in solo but he' s american - for those who don' t know him at all !!!- SUCH A HUGE AND BIG INJUSTICE !!! jyf
That looks like John (Maus) Walker, between those two girls. I'm surprised nobody else has noticed. I don't know when Scott stopped making live appearances, but I saw him in Liverpool in 1974. The audience wanted more, and he demanded a standing ovation... ...which he didn't get! For donkey's years I thought I was the only person who liked him. I've still got all his LP's.
+Philip Mayer I was there that night. The sound seemed to be too low and he choose to sing "undemanding" easy to sing songs that he had never recorded himself.
How can I forget this song... and the movie, "SUNFLOWER". Its been 36 years ago when I first watched this on t.v. I was only 15 then. I taught it was just an ordinary movie but in the end, it made me cry. Oh! such a sad love story.
Now, I'm 51 still thinking of watching this movie again, but I could not find the material. Thanks for uploading this video. Now, I had Scott Walker, Henry & Monica Mancini in my music collections... but the SUNFLOWER movie is hard to find. Starring Sofia Loren w Marcello Mastroianni. I hope someday I will...
Bish Bosch is testament to someone close to the edge. Maybe at 70, he has some existential angst. I'm not far behind him agewise but I cope with it by screaming when I wake up in the morning.
After one of those invigorating morning screams dial up the RUclips video for the studio version of "Prostitute" by Guns n' Roses. It won't be what you expect.
I have gotten copies of most of these DVDs you speak of for free, and that's why I have tried to share what is not out on youtube, hopefully to dissuade folks from buying from "bootleggers". I doubt an official compilation of such footage would ever become available, so if it can be shared freely, so much the better. Rant over: wow! this is great footage that I have never seen! I wonder if there is more out there? Surely SOMEBODY in the world has video of the Scott Walker Show from the BBC!!
From what he says in the documentary about him, he was quite out of it during this era of his career (late 70 until 76. lot's of drinking and whatnot). Wasn't until Nite Flights that he was inspired to write songs again (even though the Walker Brothers did make 2 albums prior to that one.). Amazing talent and i am super excited that he is releasing a new album this year.
Nice to see this appearance from long ago. And what a difference with his later music. People who like to be shocked should listen to later albums like Tilt :-). Thanks for this upload
Last comment, for an official dvd...on 10th September the dvd Scott Walker 30th Century Man is released this one is official, has interviews with Scott on it, and was partly filmed when he was in the studio making The Drift, it has Scott's full approval and royalties go to all the right people!
Netflix has it. I watched it last night. It is astounding. Everything Is Illuminated with Elijia Wood lifted just about everything from Sunflowers. There are also some hints of Sunflowers in Harold and Maude that Ashby used with the gravesites and daisy flower scenes.
Tão linda!!! adoro essa música e a voz desse Scott Walker então...ele se não me engano foi um dos componentes do The Walkers da musica Theres no More Corn on the Brasos.
An other last and very important thing about him - FOR ONLY those who don' t have the chance to know his very strong and powerfull work until now...- He ' s major contribution was to let know to the whole english' s word the very famous belgian singer - in french linguage - '' Jacques BREL ''...
Great song from his underrated period. Nice wee smile from Scott at the end there. I hope he hooked up with that lovely east asian lady behind him later! Funny if he did.... where is she now i wonder?
I HAD NO IDEA HE IS 68. IN FACT UNTIL THIS SONG, I HAD NEVER HEARD OF HIM. IT'S NOIT TRHAT I WAS OUT OF TIOUCH EITHER. I SAW EVERY BIG BAND IN PERSON WE PLAY HERE, AND A FEW MORE--LOL
@boonehawks i agree - it reminds a litte on Frank Sinatra's "september of my years" songs - classic good but today is another time. " my death" by Walker and Bowie is well ageless good and Walker voice is great .
check out the film about him "30th century man". there is a great 5 disk cd comp called "5 easy pieces". check him out, you'll soon be lost in a strange new world!
Thank you. In what year the movie was? I had seen chi version of sunflower, a diff story emphasized family ties and love. And also a preview of korean series (if not mistaken) of the same title. A story of ex-con who went back to his hometown where sunflowers were around. Pls. elaborate more about Neflix I dont know it. I might find the version I was looking for. Thanks again.
Thank you. In what year the movie was? I had seen a diff version of sunflower, a chi movie and the other one was a chi series. Would you pls. elaborate more about neflix, might find what Im looking for. Thanks again.
Anyone looking for Scott dvd's should be aware that there are no official dvds they are all bootleg ,despite what anyone might tell you. There are a lot of people out there selling poor quality videos and dvd's with compilations of Scott and the Walker Brothers. A lot of these are interesting, but it really annoys me that people make money from them, they own no copyright and no royalties go to the artists or the filmmakers at the time.
Perhaps you're a captive of popular culture. While this music doesn't have the mass audience it once did. Streisand, Tony Bennett, and others have done well contiinuing in this style over the succeeding 40 years. Not to mention the royalties flowing into the Sinatra estate. Newcomers Michael Buble and Diana Krall likely weren't even born when Walker performed this. I don't follow "gives me the creeps". It's not The Twilight Zone theme. BTW...Henry Mancini is never out of style
How interesting, a personal friend of SW. Well, you must be to make such a BOLD statement ("AND HE IS NOT GAY!!"). As you're so pally, could you tell us his reactions to criticism of his current work. Criticism such as... Engel's "MUSICAL GENIUS" is stranded in time; somewhere in a 1970 Bayswater loft. The pompous tedium of 'The Drift' may work "in a room full of tone deaf cretins" but devotees of his perfectly formed 60's masterworks may weep... or giggle. Did he react badly or... agree?
Another RUclips comment you made with a similar ring... samephantomxr: Scott Walker, A MUSICAL GENIUS ,in a room, full of tone deaf cretins.AND HE IS NOT GAY!!
Scott Walker had a fantastic voice. I do not think it could ever be duplicated. Went with the times.
We have lost an incomparable genius... may he rest in peace.
How I love this man ... wish he was still with us ... NO-ONE can ever compare !
A voice in a million !
So shocked at the news still. He disappeared for so long! An unforgettable voice
.RIP Noel Scott Engel. Your music lives on!
This man move me to tears...
I grew up listening to Noel Scott Engel nobody will ever compare his voice and music is outstanding
Brings back the hubristic exuberance of the joys of yore when being in love was everything.
What a fabulous voice , Scott is my favourite singer of all time ,
My favourite song is Joanna ,but then again he could do no wrong ,
Fly High With The Angel's Scott xxxx
My favourite as well Kathleen. No-one can ever match Scott such a unique voice and oh so handsome!
That looks incredible - he looks great - the people around him look great - he SOUNDS great. Geez!
I'm 70, first heard him when I was 12 yrs old. Literally stopped me in my tracks. No other voice to compare. 🖤
Underrated one of the greatest talents of the 20th century
Disagree. He certainly wasn't underrated, nor undervalued.
The girl @1.41 is in love with Scott, do not blame her his voice is amazingly beautiful, he is gorgeous as well. unlike anyone now they all sound the same.
I reckon the guy at 1:50 felt the same!
Wow, how wonderful to see this. It's so rare to find footage from Scott from this period. Majestic, other-wordly voice, mastered to perfection.

When Scott came to Japan in 1970, I was very young but I persuaded my parents and went to live. I long for it.
Thanks for sharing that, how nice :) I’m sure you cherish that memory
UNBELIEVABLE. Thank you SO much. I have to wonder: did Sinatra ever sound so beautifully perfect and magical? This stops me cold when I see it. Pure sublimity. xoxoxoxo
What a voice!🤩
I look back after loss of love, and sunlight blinds my mind
"Now the words of haunted songs ring as clear as they did then..."
What a voice!
Thank you for posting this amazing footage - RIP Scott, you were my first love and first love never dies❤️
Diese Stimme WOW....👑
He's the man
his HAIR was the man in this era. why doesn't mine do that??
I could listen to this song over and over.Great voice.Thank you...
Interesting beautiful voice unlike, not anyone that can match this.
i love this song! i love this voice and i just love the message this song brings to romantic lovers
Thank you for sharing this wonderful song. It brings me back to my schooldays.

great singer in a beautiful song!
Thanks for sherring this!

+Philip Mayer i think its a scott look a like...not John
+Artemisiainspain I'm sure it's John.
Apart from the fact he's about the only man in the audience, the camera keeps focusing on him.
Definitely, it is not John Maus in the background. John was so much more good looking than that and more so than any of the Walker Brothers.
+Philip Mayer I was there that night. The sound seemed to be too low and he choose to sing "undemanding" easy to sing songs that he had never recorded himself.
+Wally Toynbee He certainly recorded this one.
Scott Engel can sing anything the same as he sang 'Joanna' in Tokyo so long ago.
I don´t believe it!! It´s amazing, perfect, sublime. Thank you for posting!
How can I forget this song... and the movie,

I remember when I saw this video in 2007 (14 years old me), it changed my music taste forever... thank you mr. thecatkeaton
He hasn't gone anywhere. He still makes albums.
Canção lindíssima - coisa de gênio - Henry Mancini. Voz belíssima - interpretação sensível - Scott Walker.
Now, I'm 51 still thinking of watching this movie again, but I could not find the material. Thanks for uploading this video. One of the best voices in the business, unmistakable.
Wasnt John (who also had a great voice) the original lead singer of The Walker Brothers? ❤️
I have gotten copies of most of these DVDs you speak of for free, and that's why I have tried to share what is not out on youtube, hopefully to dissuade folks from buying from "bootleggers". Goodness how could someone put sinartra in the same sentence as Scott nope my mind boggles x
🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎼 welch Stimme 💓
wow! brilliant, I didn't even know this existed
Thank you Scott.
Quelle belle voix de crooner servie par une musique fantastique merci Mancini
Nice to see this appearance from long ago. And what a difference with his later music. People who like to be shocked should listen to later albums like Tilt :-). Thanks for this upload
'Tilt' seems quite approachable compared with the music he's done since then.

Scott was about 26 then-Great talent but never came to the states to make it. He stayed in the UK
He had a couple of big hits with the Walker Brothers in his native America.
Netflix has it. I watched it last night. It is astounding. Everything Is Illuminated with Elijia Wood lifted just about everything from Sunflowers. There are also some hints of Sunflowers in Harold and Maude that Ashby used with the gravesites and daisy flower scenes.
I shiver all over...
R.I.P Scott

So painful to listen to cuz of my lost years.
@CANARVONKID i think her name was wei wei wong, or wai wai wong .i seem to remember her being a dancer in this type of group set in the 70s 80s

i agree - it reminds a litte on Frank Sinatra's "september of my years" songs - classic good but today is another time.
" my death" by Walker and Bowie is well ageless good and Walker voice is great .
This version is faster than the album (The Moviegoer) one. But it's stil marvellous.
I much prefer this version!
Happy Birthday Scott - I believe he is 68 today, January 9.
check out the film about him "30th century man". there is a great 5 disk cd comp called "5 easy pieces". check him out, you'll soon be lost in a strange new world!

1972- I remember that year well. I was 19 years old and guys hair looked better than the females
haha, good description!
That Asian girl behind Scott is a stunner!
I wonder which beauty he plucked from the audience and went home with.
He was dating his future wife at the time...
wow
@Syntox Syntox, you have such a way with words!
I'm sure you are going to go places, and the sooner the better!

There was another song from this episode that used to be on RUclips. Where did it go?
@markie65 I didn't notice actually, the guy next to her got my undivided attention!

ack! gonna have to listen to clara to wash that out of my brain. thx for getting weird, scotty.
where's the "we could be flying" clip from the same show? put it back please.
Please Explain?
The men's hairstyles look better than the females
Precisely
I truly truly Love this song...but the clip - its like this guy just showed up to the party and bummed the fuck out of everybody!
What album was this on?
Sunflower 1970 de Sica Marcello Mastroianni Sofia Loren
Then please stop pealing onions while watching the video clip!
I think this audience was hand picked?
There is not one ugly bastard in the pack!
